Completely agree, there's a lot of armchair b*tching in social media comments etc these days. Personally I'm grateful for all the YT content creators - I've learned so much and also just enjoyed time watching lots of photography content. BTW was wondering how you came up with the name the street thief? The name suggests to someone who doesn't know you that you use ninja style surreptitious shooting style but actually you are usually the opposite and openly interact with your subjects in a fantastic way - with your London accent I see you more as the street geezer :-)

I personally find threads worse than Instagram 😂 I only post part time on Instagram as I have other commitments that take priority but I try my best whenever I do have photos to share. My reach is always quite low but some posts do better than others.

I stopped reading comments for 2 reasons, most don't have the common sense god gave them and I am good enough to know when I take a good image and when I dont, dont need validation, unless I know you are better than me and and can help me improve

I agree with the comments above. Why do you post your images? What do you expect to get out of it? I know, more of less, what is good. Why do I care about comments from people I don’t know? Why would I care about comments from people I don’t know if they are qualified to make comments about my work? This is different if I select someone l know and respect. Sad to say, we frequently value the advice we receive based upon how much we paid for it. In order to improve I need feedback on my work. That feedback should be specific. That feedback needs to come from a respected source. One line feedback isn’t the best resource for feedback on my work. Mask On Nurse Marty (Ret)

Good question. I post because i want to surprise and move people and also to take risks. Other than that I don’t think about why or feel the need to think about why. Also you said you don’t care about comments from people. I’m the same but there are people who do care. You can’t tell someone not to take it to heart because they do.

I have found that some hobbies are pretty bitchy and unfortunately photography can be one of them. I have met some decent people over the years but many of the others have to have their say on everything, you can bet nine times out of ten if they do nothing but bitch about other photographers, they are probably pretty limited in their own ability. Most of the great photographers I've met don't really waste too much time complaining about what other people are doing, they just get on with it.

GR3 ; lens is superb but due to distortion ,not suitable for portraits. On the other hand GR3X ;lens is not superb but good enough for portraits....

You can use it for portraits. Distortion in street portraits is invited. I make a living from shooting portraits. There are lenses I wouldn’t shoot with with fashion models and even musicians but street is different you can push it

I feel like I’m a black sheep in the community because I don’t mind when someone is critical of my photos, but when it comes to others work I tend to comment if someone posts or responds in a negative way. I don’t take photos for others, it’s not my job but it is a passion so I hope people like what I share, but engagement only matters for the algorithm. The people who like us and our work will support regardless, the people who complain or antagonize usually aren’t happy.
