The title of this should been SDCC pops. There are multiple conventions each year and you didn’t touch on any other con, such as ECCC.

This isn't a 2020 convention issue only. Funko has been selling con sticker packs for 3 conventions now.

Nycc 2020 for kaguya atleast there's a different sku stamped on the bottom. A shared kaguya has fm200811 while the convention sticker is fm200804. There's no faking a pressure stamps But I'm also aware that not all pops have pressure stamps on the bottom

All this fake Pops, fake stickers, re-releases etc we need to know about! Idiots are out there trying to *actively and intentionally scam Pop collectors* and the only way to stop them is to learn all we can about what they're doing! If there is no way to prove that a convention stickered funko was actually from the convention, then how is Whatnot able to say that a bunch are fake or sticker swaps? Is there sticker residue or something since the stickers are generally different sizes.

Wanna know how I got my con goku this year? Got lucky and got the con astronaut bird from funkoshop, bought a shared goku and did the sticker swap myself. I took the hot topic upc sticker off and boom done deal. If I wouldnt be honest and say I did my own swap nobody would know..i can't account for any cons I've bought previously but I can say for 2020 goku I did it myself for the reason being i didn't wanna get screwed on ebay. I wouldn't sell it without letting it be known so all safe here!

Thank you for this video. I was only able to get flocked mewtwo from SDCC and luckily it was a Con sticker (the ONLY con sticker I have). BUT... my sticker looks like the one that was on the Brian Fantana... so people are calling me a fake or scam because it looks faded and not as vibrant as other con stickers... funko really dropped the bag this year. There is so much confusion and miscommunication.

Have you heard about the Danny Phantom funko pop?

If it’s impossible to tell if a sticker was swapped or not, then how is WhatNot able to differentiate to the point that sellers who attempt to sell these SDCC pops get their listing rejected? How can we trust them to know what they are doing when authenticating?

I get it 1000% it sucks as a collector it just adds to the frustration that we deal with to stay in the game wanting to collect. But I feel like the conversation shouldn’t be focused on the swappers that’s just a part of innovation the community evolving and giving opportunities to those who seek that small detail. The conversation should be about how Funko does not care about quality control. They have the opportunity to make small variations or make a distinct change that identifies con exclusives, just the fact that it’s a roulette for something that is a Funko shop exclusive just makes it even worse. Idk just wanted to give a different perspective, at the end of the day we set them up for success by buying consistently.

Hey I don't know if you noticed but even the consequences have different colors I have a video on me unboxing them and I noticed them two days when I look at the box I noticed the different colors is a different blue for certain pops

a combo of the sticker variation and a poor camera phone had a lot of people thinking the Vex pop I got from the funko shop called fake in the funko group so yea, the variation issue is big.

There a group on discord I won't name but they brought con stickers and the regular editions and swap the stickers for profits .... this is why I'm passing on con pops on ebay and mercari

Funko has never sent me a convention sticker on my pops from 2020, but I refuse to take a chance for one out in the wild, I will keep my shared sticker pop. It's the same pop. I don't understand how a pop for a convention that didn't happen can have more value, besides the fact that funko is shipping pops from their site with 2 different stickers when their was no convention. I got 3 sdcc pops from the event, from the Funko website and everything, harry toucan astronaut and Ron with baxter, they all came with shared exclusive stickers no idea why.

Next thing you know, the shared sticker Bakugo becomes the expensive grail in the future because of the lack of the shared stickers due to the swaps

Great theme. Its very important the give a warning about funko Convention 2020 stickers. The big problem its Funko its not perfect making stickers!! Great video!!

Window swaps are what needs to be done people!! No one checks to see if the window was swapped. Dont mess up the sticker or risk leaving residue behind. Just plop that window out and glue in the new one! But in all seriousness, I think Funko needs to add something the the code on the bottom of the boxes to confirm its an official con piece. Like maybe just having "CON" stamped in front of the date stamp.

There are people who are very active in the Funko Pop community that get together before every convention and have the fake stickers ready. The fake stickers are sent out before the convention even starts. These fake stickers get a little better every year. It’s amazing how much money these individuals are making from doing the sticker swap. It’s really sad. I know one of the individuals who do this. I asked this person don’t you feel bad about taking these individuals. The person commented that if these people are not going to cover all their bases and really make sure it’s legit then it’s not his problem. With the pop that you gave the example of I would not be surprised if later on down the road the shared sticker eventually becomes more valuable than the convention sticker. The reason I say this is that the market is becoming flooded with that pop having a fake convention sticker. Eventually there becomes so many of these with fake stickers that people start turning away from them. It becomes more likely you will get one that has a fake convention sticker on it instead of the real sticker. Funko needs to do something else that signifies that this is from the convention other than just the sticker. They need something like putting some kind of design inside the actual Funko box on the cardboard. A special design that is on the cardboard, not a sticker, would be so hard to duplicate. This design would be printed on the box where they are being made. You now have a convention sticker on the front but inside the box on the cardboard would be a printed on design. That would take away this problem. People printing out fake stickers is one thing. If they then have to actually print an entire Funko box to match the box of a convention Funko pop and print a fake sticker that’s going to be so much more difficult and time-consuming and too expensive. Right now there are so many people out there who think they purchased this pop with the actual convention sticker. Later on down the road when they try to trade or decide to sell they will find out they were taken.

someone mentioned something on a board I'm on and it made me wonder - is this more of a US/north america issue? Do international buyers have the same interest in getting a con sticker? I don't and being Canadian we are in a weird spot as international but sort of not...

When I received my toucan from the funko shop, the sdcc sticker was damaged because when it was put into the sorter, the sticker had folded back and the sorter pushed it back down. So when I took it out and tried to straighten it, there was a bunch of creases on the sticker...

So basically just know what you are buying and you wont get scammed?

Thank you for clarifying that this only applies to 2020. The Aku Samurai Jack 2 pack is from 2019 nycc. It has the nycc sticker and the other stcker has the statue of liberty on it.

Why does Funko even send the shared sticker when you're buying from the "virtual con" I've bought pops from ever virtual cons and they all had the shared stickers

They should really put a printed on sticker somewhere on the box, for all con stickered pops. Kind of like Funko sodas, just on the back of the box, something printed on that you can’t tamper with.

What are your thoughts on vaulted pops releasing in Popcultcha website, example, Bride of chucky stitched face vaulted and freddy Krueger hatless #224 vaulted both hot topic exclusives. I’ve read on forums that people who ordered sailor moon from chalice , the vaulted ones , got burned! Any input on this? I honestly was thinking of ordering since horror is one of my favorite pops.

You've probably seen my Facebook comments, but I still think it's hilarious that the one convention sticker that gets massively overvalued is the sticker that was for a con that never even happened. It is so damaging to the Funko collecting community. It never used to be like this. Con stickers would have a smallish premium for the reasons you mentioned. It was just much harder to actually get from the cons themselves, due to the booth lottery, expensive ticket prices, etc.

I bought one on ebay from sdcc and then decided to sell it on Whatnot and within a day they took the ad down and told me it was fake. Mine was a fake sticker, it was missing the "TM" logo that was soooo tiny that I didn't notice it was even missing!! I got my money back from ebay but it was a process. I have pictures of it if you need it for a future episode.

Yo GREAT VID, if only I had came across your channel sooner....lol I recently went to Toy Tokyo this past Sunday in NYC. They had a Super Tales and Super Silver with the Con Sticker behind the glass case with the other grail type pops. I was so hyped I scooped that up ASAP. Got home, took a look and it's been sticker swapped. You can see the glue from the special edition sticker under the con sticker. Now I know why the lighting was so different than upstairs. Toy Tokyo supposed to be that store if you're looking for authentic pops. The thing about it is, I would've paid the same thing for the special edition sticker, they didn't have to slap on a con sticker. Now I have a high value tainted pop in my collection. 2020 THE SCAMS ARE DEFINITELY REAL, WATCH OUT!!!
