People, please buy chairs that you would want to sit in. If they pass the "would I watch a movie in this?" Then buy it. If not, why would you spend money on it? You want your friends stuck on the uncomfortable chair?

LOL so true. I'm a large lady, and when I see those little modern chairs with clear plastic and two thin curtain rods holding them up, I just sort of say "Oh, look at this beautiful (picture, artifact, view)! and sidle away. While nobody needs to accommodate my wide load, chairs should support a normal-sized person sitting down with graceful enthusiasm. If you have to perch instead of sit, that's not a chair, it's a decoration.

The purpose of an accent chair isn’t really to sit in though. It’s more of an accent to your room to give the appearance of more space.

I have an “ugly” chair in my living room. It is literally the most comfortable place in the world to sit and relax. My 8 year old son lives in it after school. Yes, it’s ugly, but it’s the best!!

Most of these are what we used to call "occasional" chairs. You wouldn't want to sit in them for any longer than it takes to drink a cup of tea. Not designed to be comfortable chairs for the evening.

I would say try to figure out your favorite stores or brands. Try to narrow it down to TWO favorites and that will help inform your style

The most important thing for me is that a chair is comfortable to sit in. Some of the chairs you show are pretty, but I doubt if they are comfortable.

that doesn't mean you have to fill it with antiques and make it look old, lots of hotels in Italy with very old architecture fill the interiors with clean modern furniture and it looks amazing

Nobody asked but Seniors often need better support then some of those chairs offer !! Although Beautiful, an elder cannot get in or out of those without injury if they have physical issues.. Just something to be made aware of... Thank God You did show many options... Hopefully some will suit the elders who also watch your Designer choices...

Honestly, I think you should stop promoting Valyou. I purchased a couch from them based on your 'good word' I have been waiting for months I asked for a refund, but no answer! I have several others complaining on their website some have been waiting for a year! this is not ok! Especially for a reputable influencer like yourself, people trust that your association with these merchants is genuine and won't rip off people.

We just bought an antique accent chair that is like a Bergere chair, and it is SO comfortable- filled with down-but we are doing a more modern upholstery. It's bulky, but we have a very large floor plan and there's lots of negative space. We are modernizing it with sculptural/modern end table & Italian lighting.

Ahh much boucle and teddy bear. Why are we not recognizing any of the impressive chair designers? There are so many beautiful chairs out there! Eames, Saarinen, etc and even their nock-offs! I do appreciate seeing chairs at all price points, but was hoping to see a nod to the original accent chair designers!

I’ve been obsessed with the Matador chair from CB2 as well so I was so happy to see it on your list. I know it is very expensive BUT I found a dupe at Valyou furniture for half the prize! It doesn’t have the same shearling upholstery but the structure and shape is very very similar

Hate 🤬 hate 🤬 hate 🤬 accent chairs with no armrests. I know people who have them in their living spaces. No one ever, AND I MEAN EVER, sits in them unless absolutely necessary. Would work in a funeral home though.

Arvin, if your tree has fungus gnats they must be treated. Bonide mosquito beaters is the product you need, contains BTi, a naturally occurring organism. You mix it in to your water for the plant and water with it.

I’m embarrassed to admit that I’ve had to order a recliner 🙁 OR did I mean to say puffer jacket chair ??? I walked into every store within driving distance and asked for a recliner that does NOT look like a puffer jacket! I’ve been putting it off for around five years because I just hate the look of them. Omg, I hunted high and low for something that looks a little bit like a normal armchair. Nobody in my life understands the struggle.

Try lazyboy. They have a lot of recliners that look like regular chairs! Edit - I just went to their website and they've gotten rid of all the great high leg modern recliners. Breaks my heart! Glad I bought mine when I did. Looks like they're reverting back to crap now. 🥺

You’re adorable, however, like fashion anyone with classic style who likes elegance, functionality, and quality is going to be sticking with these “dated” pieces you’re referring to. Personally, I’m not interested in a chair that looks like an uncomfortable fold out chair, or one that looks like a cat tower. 😂. To each his own.

I love this Arvin! I'm actually selling my house and downsizing. I have sold and donated so much stuff but there are a few pieces that l will not part with. My leather and walnut mid century modern style chair is one of them. My favorite chair in this video has to be the round wood and boucle chair. I love it. They're are beautiful.

20 years ago bouclé fabric could maybe have been described as a non perfomance fabric on a chair. But as of today, when the martindale rating is 30'000 plus on a bouclé fabric, it's ok for everyday use.

Comfort and function before form .always.designer here.I don't buy junk....trendy is last stop before tacky.I want refined swivel and glide..ahhhhhhhhhhh..the tired man kinda looks overweight and bulky..and is not for everyone's taste or budget. Eames Lounge chair kicks that to the curb

If I am not 'in love' with something, then it belongs to another customer. Sadly, sadly, life and family determine a lot about your space but it's worth it. It gives you lots of time to imagine what would make you happy. Try to integrate practicality with joy which comes from seeing a piece of furniture each day. It will give you strength to manage the family or career challenges.

Arvin - your videos are always so interesting and full of great info. However, I have to disagree with your comment about the Wayne chair from Castlery being a great reading chair. As someone who loves to curl up with a book, I would find this chair very uncomfortable. Hard arms or any hard bits at all are never acceptable for a cozy reading chair.

These are cute styles but they are in NO way timeless pieces. In a year or 2 they will out dated and most likely broken. Leather club chairs will always look good in a modern or old style home.

I loved all of those chairs. I am partial to more upholstery but the rattan weave was very beautifully done. The tired man chair looks like something I would have to sit in if I saw it. Excellent choices.

Well I got a great sofa/chair but last summer they had a SKETCHY /uncontrollable stateside delivery service via UPS -- (Valyou is based in Honolulu) they later changed to their OWN delivery service and that service means LOCAL guys - MUCH BETTER!
