I got mechanic's gloves for $4 and water shoes for $10. Both very comfortable and work great for sim racing. But, I would keep my sim gear for racing only, I would not walk around with water shoes and gloves doing outdoor work and then use it on expensive wheels and pedals.

I had to as before I used them for racing I'd used them for biking for a good 5/6 years already, so when racing got introduced they wore out a little faster and the tips of the fingers started sticking through holes xD

I was using a pair of fingerless spandex compression gloves. But, while I was away for work, I found 2 pairs of mountain bike gloves on sale at a sporting store. A pair of fingerless Decathlon with padded palms and a pair of full finger RockRiders with a reinforced leather palm and a thin, breathable back. I have been using the RockRiders for over a year and a half. They also have the phone touch finger tip.

Mechanix Specialty Gloves with extra grip (finger tips cut off). Head tennis racket over wrap tape on my steering wheels. Dragon Grip grip stickers on my shifter paddles. Exercise socks with grip. I've been thinking about trying the Sim Hounds shoes. I've tried karting gloves in the past, but they keep heat in and they are generally more expensive and haven't lasted as long as my Mechanix gloves.

I used my work gloves for sim racing for a while, they did work well but did not breath well so my hands got very sweaty which I did not enjoy. I got dedicated sparco hypergrip sim racing gloves for fairly reasonable price on amazon, took some research to determine my correct size, they fit great and work well, I love that they work with my laptop touchpad and phone screen. After one year they are showing some wear but no problems yet, I can tell they are doing the job to protect the materials on my wheel. For shoes I just wear my house slippers, no problems there

I have some cozy house slippers that have rubber soles for my racing shoes, for gloves I bought some Alpine Stars karting gloves from Ebay. They a have a very nice rubber pattern on the palms which grips my wheels really nicely, making me grip the wheel far less, definitely wont buy any other gloves unless they have rubber grips.

Recently bought the Sim Hound shoes. I previously used slippers with a reasonably substantial sole. The Sim Hound shoes are very nice indeed. They are a good fit & very comfortable, and not over priced. I’m very pleased with my purchase. Would definitely recommend. I have the Alcantara Club Sport Formula 2.5x rim, so I use Sparco Meca gloves which do the job well.

I would argue that, even ignoring price, water shoes are (subectively) a better option than karting shoes. I tried the Sparco K-Pole and the sole is a bit too thick for me. I lost some sensation from the brake. Water shoes normally have the perfect sole thickness - again, for me.

i made the mistake in thinking the GSI aerogloves would be superb, 5 months in and the stitching is allready coming loose on 3 or 4 spots, oh and there's 2 holes in the palms near the thumb, i have fairly strong hands as a mechanic so i run quite heavy FFB, seems like these gloves were made to work with starter logitech's or something. i think my next pair will be a karting glove, probably sparco or some other well known brand and preferably the higher tier in build quality. i spent over 100 dollars on the GSI's and they state on their website that they're sold without warranty... now i know why.

Alcantara or suede like materials will be washed out about once a year from fats and oils in your hands. If you want to protect that then go for some gloves. Shoes definitely make using something like 100-200kg of brake force manageable, but I use some slippers I got for free from a hotel.

I don’t like short gloves. I prefer the longer version just for the looks. After some 3 years of trying different ones I’m still hooked to the Alpinestars Tech-1 Race V2. Snug, touch control, good grip, light, affordable. I also own a pair signed by yourself and the Weasel. 😍 they sit in my pitbox shelf. I do prefer shoes as well. As you said, when putting some weight on the brake pedal, you want that sole support. I’m going with worn out adidas sneakers that have a super thin sole by now. Gives me some good feel towards the pedal face but also stability. Thanks for your video. 🫡 …and have a good week.
@SN_Seebass01
@SN_Seebass01 2 месяца назад
I understand the need for shoes, because certain shoes can be too thick or unwieldy or even rough for the pedal set you might use, but honestly, gloves are hit or miss. You can get the same performance without them, and it doesn’t damage your wheel unless you are literally digging your nails into everything
@randomcallsign

gloves help with chaffing after prolonged times of use, each leads to blisters, cuts etc. Also they help protect alcantara wheels. with gloves, the alcantara lasts longer before being washed.

Hi there, after trying a lot gloves and shoes I have settle with the new model of F33L gloves, they have better finishing and fit than the Jimmy's version and I like the grip of the palm rubber, no problem for me. I've tried other ones for fitness and biking and the cushioning on the palm was even painful when gripping the wheel firmly. I've also tried freem (confortable but not grippy enough for me), minus 273 (very good but also very hot ones), different models of sparco ones, etc... A lot of money spent, to end up with F33L, the new model, better than the old one. For shoes, after trying from socks, socks with insole, racing shoes... I finally have settle with water shoes, the same exact model as Simhound ones, but without the elastic, they are sold in Amazon quite a bit cheaper, but maybe the elastic is worth it. I've spent a lot of money trying different things and I end up with almost the same conclusions @randomcallsign. Just my two cents.
