Also dishwasher disinfects (higher temperature and detergent used for washing)

This is true! If you got your faucet water to the same temperature as your dishwasher water you'd likely have third degree burns.

That’s cool how you’re showing how much you take it seriously, because this isn’t just some forgotten practice

I had an ancient Hobart and it was the best dishwasher I've ever owned - and my current one is a Bosch 800 series. It was well over 30 years old. I wouldn't trade it for the new Bosch.

Thank you for sharing this. I'm guilty of this. My husband keeps telling me to run the dish washer.😂

Great video. I usually put eating dishes/utensils in dishwasher and hand wash cooking dishes/utensils. I will definitely try putting all dishes used for that day in dishwasher and run dishwasher daily instead of once a week. Probably will save a lot of water and time. Thank you for great video.

To save even more water I'd recommend that you also only run your dishwasher when it's full, so no need to run it everyday unless you fill it everyday! Thanks for watching!

Don't forget the time it takes to load and unload the dishwasher.

@PedramPourmand: I run my dishwasher at night and unload it the next day.

@@albertcarello619Which doesn't reduce the time it takes to load and unload. But running it at night often can mean lower energy prices!

@@zweigackroyd7301 I agree! My dishwasher is a 2002 KitchenAid. Very little repairs. Only the hinges supporting the door at the bottom had to be replaced twice. And a rubber gasket on the inside of the machine had to be replaced and earlier a thermal fuse.

True! But for the most part that shouldn't add too much time unless you're prewashing your dishes before loading them.

@@BoulevardHome I always unload the dishwasher the next morning after I run it the night before.

I do think on average people use a lot of water when hand-washing. I don't believe one really needs 12 gallons to do the dishes you showed, I totally agree you can't use less than the dishwasher! Although it will have occurred to you that the machine uses the dirty water that you felt compelled to drain to wash the dishes, right? 🙂

So that particular dishwasher actually has what's called a particulate sensor in it, so while it's in its cycle it will essentially detect how dirty the water is and filter it while it's running! So for the most part the water should have been fairly clean. And the 12 gallons will definitely vary depending on how dirty your dishes are, that's true. In our case we had them pretty dirty haha. Thanks for watching!

For me I always do a dry wash, meaning that I don’t fill the bowl with water and make soapy water to clean your dirty dishes. I don’t think it’s particularly effective and efficient

The dishwasher is not suitable for those who live with few items and it only sprays water and does not clean enough. It just brightens bad skin, like covering it with make-up.

When used right, your dishes will actually come out of a dishwasher cleaner than if you hand washed them. Your point about only having a few items is valid, though. Although I'll add, dishwashers that are particularly efficient could still be a cleaner and greener option for washing even just a few dishes.

Certain dishwashers have a mode to clean one rack if there's not much that needs cleaning. Odds are, it'll still use less water than handwashing. Sponges can also harbor a lot of microbes, while a dishwasher kills most of them because of how hot the rinse water can be.
