Edit: 08:20 ahhhh I could not agree more! I really dislike those mass produced knickknacks. There's no life in it or story behind it.. Trust me Paige, you do not want to see the terrible concrete on my patio. The builders did a terrible job. It’s cracking, it has drops of paint, and who knows what else. But it’s a small area, so a nice outdoor rug hides most of it. There may come a time when I have the 💵 to fix the concrete patio and expand it. Till then, I’m happy to have “wasted” $60 on a nice neutral cream indoor/outdoor rug that can be easily vacuumed AND hosed, and hides the mess underneath.

Marie Kondo is cool. Her advice is great, even though people misrepresent her words. Her folding techniques are also super helpful. I feel like I've seen Home Edit on RU-vid, but I couldn't get through an episode. I thought they were obnoxious and a little disrespectful. They talked so much about nothing, it didn't seem like they included the homeowner in anything, which made it feel impersonal and unsustainable. In the episode I saw, as soon as the girl left, they called her stuff "crap", then they ate cupcakes-she was a baker- in her room and got crumbs everywhere. And in one of the drawers, the lady had an adult toy. When they were cleaning, one of the girls found it and her assistant tried to tell her to put it down. She finally figured out what it was and put it back, but it felt so rude. Like they didn't even cut that footage. I know she probably consented or something, but I know I would not have been ok with that footage.

I say buy and display what you’re drawn to whether it’s trendy or vintage. That vintage stuff you like, was once a trend and is no more authentic than something new IMO. Just because it’s old doesn’t mean it wasn’t mass produced at one time. If you love something and it has a special meaning or memory attached to it, put it out where you can see it often. Other accessories might be purely aesthetic…things that make your heart sing every time you look at them. This is not an either/ or proposition. Btw, I love cowhides and furry things and large natural gemstones…on or off a stick. I’m drawn to natural materials and handcrafted items from around the world.

I’m a farmer from OK. And I can’t stand country decor. I’m talking about those plastic western figurines and crosses! I get that for a farmer I have elevated style. But when I walk into a friends house and I see that picture of boots hanging on the wall, I wanna leave immediately.

I have a cat that peed on my bed while wrapped in "her" blanket. Turns out she had a bladder infection. But also some dogs and cats just get incontinent. Have a care though that she doesn't chew up the diaper.

highly disagree with sheepskin rug. they serve a purpose for winters and cold climates. during winter.. i would put it as a rug under my computer desk to keep my feet warm so i don't have to wear uggs. i don't like using uggs. uggs are made of the same thing. sheepskin. i put it as a rug under my computer desk and it keeps my feet warm during colder days and winter. for me.. i have them because they aren't just a decorative piece. they serve a purpose.

The only appropriate and acceptable use I have ever seen for those hideous IKEA faux fur rugs is when the costume designers for Game of Thrones bought them and dyed them to look like wolf pelts.

I'm completely the opposite when it comes to fur & animal print. I love a good quality, soft faux fur throw, but I hate animal print on furnishings! Absolutely not a fan of actual cow hides though. They freak me out :(

100%! When an accent color is overused it's no longer an "accent" but becomes the main color. The whole point of an accent is to bring in a 3rd color (or more) so it doesn't look flat and boring, or one dimensional.

I dislike animal print. Animal print is for animals. I already have 3 cats, ain't gonna buy a crappy rug that looks like or it's a dead animal skin. Ew.

when she says you should have your own style and not follow trends that is the "why" to take a picture from a magazine and have it in your home that's not you own unique style and i agree... like her arvin and keva says have your own style if you need help arranging that's one thing but following trends is just blah

Uh bad taste, no interest in decor, no money, just learning… 15 years ago I thought grommet curtains were hip. As someone older, wiser and most importantly, a little more money, now I’m thoroughly disgusted by them.

A lot of times on the bottom of the curtains with grommets they have an opening that you can slide a rod through and hang them upside down. Cut the section with the grommets off and either sew the hem or use hem tape

@carliemichelle19 3 года назад
@@susanma4899 you just buy them longer than you need, the curtains I got from Amazon were only an extra $2 to get them 11 inches longer, but still were cheaper than a lot of other curtains I was looking at

That’s exactly what I did some time ago. I needed 4 panels, but they were too short.So I bought five. I cut off the grommet strip off each. I cut the fifth panel in four equal pieces. I stitched one piece to each of the 4 panels on the end that I had cut off and hemmed them to length. Whala!

yes! don't like one accent colour everywhere, don't like these trendy knick knacks that everyone buys as if they had no ideas of their own! No to benches, I do like eating comfortably too! One of my own pet peeves is the artwork placed too high on the walls and too far apart and/or too tiny and I see that constantly!!! drives me crazy!

Finally some things that I strongly agree with you on. I HATE mass produced decor. I do, however, have an outdoor rug, because the wood floor of my apartment balcony was HORRIBLY and unfixably stained when we moved in. That rug absolutely saved the space.
