absolutely great video thank you for these tests i was using 1080p because i thought it would use less power and have less lag but now i switched to 4k after watching thank you!!! 🔥
Also wanted you thank you for making these videos. There is no one else doing these types of tests even though so many people could benefit from it. Looking forward to your next video ❤
pls make the same for Fortnite I think it is one of the only games that you can play competitively with PC games and have good results, in addition to being the most popular game. It will definitely be a very watched video or perhaps a video to know how to get the most out of our console to obtain less fps drops along with a good input lag either of these two videos would be great, keep up your good work
Great idea , a general settings will help a lot, maybe for ex desactivate this options and it will help with performance like HDCP for example or turn off bluetooth and other things that he will discover. Hope to see this . I playe competitive fortnite also and ps5 sometimes is imposible to play in lobbys that are too stacked
Thanks for the idea, as most of this channel's audiences are general I try to focus on general topics and COD has given good results so far, however, I may try a full video for Fortnite in the future and see if it works. because it requires a lot of time.
I like your idea about the settings for fps increase. Maybe we can get a “best consistent fps graphic/interface settings” type of video, regardless I’m staying tuned to find out. Your videos are really well made 🎉
The input lag difference in the resolution test is because you didnt test on a 1440p or 1080p native display, you just changed that on your 4K display. The maximum speed of a display is achiev on it native resolution.
The rest wasn't done on a monitor or TV, but on a capture card by considering the native input delay and the results aren't based on the connected display
It would be great if you could figure out how to make the edge feel the same as dualsense. I've played with dualsense on 7/7 .85 ADS Dynamic for years and now I. Play with the edge and my aim just feels off, like jumpy and inconsistent. Ugh
Btw, peeps. Don't buy a DS Edge until we know, for sure, that Sony has addressed a weakness with the back buttons/paddles. The molded sockets inside the controller, that the paddles and half-domes fit into, have tiny little hinge pins on them that will break in time. I got my Edge on day one, and the first pin broke on the left one within a week while using the paddles. Switching to the half-domes somehow allowed me to keep using it, though. And then, a pin on the right one broke in October (MWIII beta) and made that one totally unreliable. Someone here on RU-vid did a workaround by shoving little pieces of plastic between the sockets and the metal brackets that hold them in place. Since I went ahead and let the warranty expire, I'm going to see if I can drill holes in the sockets for metal hinge pins, someday... Just a heads up for you guys until Sony comes up with a revision that fixes this.
I play on Xbox SX with ps5 controllers. Without question…the analogs on dualsense just feel better than the dual sense edge. I thought I was crazy at first, but hearing from you that there are others out there that feel the same, validates my findings
So im confused ...im using regular dual sense controller with Bluetooth with samsung odessy g7 monitor ...should i use 1440p or 2160?i have vrr and alm and using hdmi 2.1 with lan cable
Btw if you make a video talking in depth about the input lag difference between using fidelity cas with different types of resolution, I'll be the first to watch it
Hey Danial, I have an LG GP950 monitor, its a 4k monitor. I run it at 1440p because I thought it would have more stable 120 fps than running it at 4k (I don’t know if this is true, maybe you can test it), but should I change it back to 4k for lower input lag? I play wired, so I don’t know if it matters.
If i overclocked the controller for bluetooth it doesn’t matter anymore for imput lag im using the monitor on 1080p for better imput lag hdr turned off
The reason polling rate is so low on USB is that PlayStation has always had their USB ports locked at that refresh rate. I believe it was the same on PS3 & PS4.
@@DanielZH really? Interesting, I guess I misunderstood you. Does the tool you are using display whether it is the USB port being polled? That makes me thing DS Edge is just always connecting via Bluetooth (or via “PlayStation Link.”)
@@AG-ur1lj yes it does and I turned off BT when testing USB, there was no way it would use BT, but yes Edge has 1000Hz polling rate on USB and BT, USB is more stable though
@@DanielZH btw your content is amazing, you are the only channel making stuff like this. I’ve probably spent nearly as much time experimenting with audio as you, and at the moment I’m rocking “Soundbar” audio mix, with 3D audio _on_ , Bass and High cranked up, Low way down, Mid down 1 or 2 and Treble left at 0. I find footsteps to be very audible, and with 3D off I hear them well enough for it to be confusing and difficult to determine where they are coming from (hence 3D on)
Hey I tried your tip to use usb for dual sense and it didn’t feel right. I can’t tell if it’s placebo or not but it just felt slower for some reason and I went back to Bluetooth
I am so conflicted, CAS off the game doesn’t look as crisp. But I feel like I move is much better with it off. Am I tripping? I often have it set to 70. But it’s always in the back of my mind if it actually effect it that much.
this option isn't that effective for FPS when it's off, 50 was the most stable one in a few tests I did but I have to make more tests, FOV has the most affection.
Last but not least and I’m asking this question because I see that you like to dig in new territories why in 10 years no one and repeat no one as ever talk about the bufferbloat that I really think is the value, the most interfere in your game and now to solve it thank you my man and keep up the good work
Sure man we want more video like this specially, in the footstep and audio sections cause everybody is talking about the setting on the headphones or the dac…… but is never been clear on the PS five side, if we should set the audio to PCM to Dolby, audio or turn on the 3-D Sony effect and all this is messing up with (in casa you use it) dac amp and even more with the Dolby 5.1 or 7.1 virtual of your headset, causing at the end a huge m mess
Yes, I really think we have to support this guy to press like to the video and to subscribe because the approach game the mechanics is completely new and the he does a really deep but easily explained solution to all this problem. I’ve been watching those kind of videos for long time now what is the first time the summer strikes me with so many so I really think this guy needs a chance and we should support him a little bit more and see if he improves.
I was waiting for this video thank you so much!! Looks like I'm going to buy a new monitor. Mine is 14 years old and I wondered why I often lose when I chall an opponent. Every Ms counts in this game. Thank you again 🎉
between 60FPS and 120FPS mode there's a huge difference in controller and picture smoothness of the game, if you can, getting a monitor that supports 120Hz would be great for PS5 and FPS games.
Btw I got a question for you, in another video you say that voice chat adds +1.5ms delay to the PS controller but what if I use my headset through USB cable instead of using the 3.5m of the controller, will still cause the extra delay?
What monitor did you used to measure input lag from controller at (120hz) 1080p, 1440p and 4K at 1:44 ? Deviating from your monitor's native resolution will add lag. I don’t get how higher resolution results in less input lag. You must have measured them with a 4k monitor to get these results. It would be great to see more diving about this
Hi, I should mention in future videos that I don't use a monitor to measure the input lag, instead, I use a capture card that natively supports all resolutions, and the input delay is measured on the capture card + the RAW input delay is considered and taken away from final results, for example, it has 31ms delay in 4K 120FPS and I take that away from final result which was 40ms (eg) and we have 9ms as the actual input lag.
I’m interested in knowing how you’re getting your fps on ps5, I know it can’t be your monitor setting due to when you connect it to a monitor and turn on fps counter it sticks at “120” so I am really curious to know how you’re doing that.
so it still depends on which native resolution your monitor supports... It is difficult to say that in all scenarios the input lag is disadvantaged as soon as you lower your resolution. maybe you played on a 4k native monitor? what I mean to say by this; it might be interesting to see how it would affect input lag and frames per second once you play at native 1080p, native 1440p and native 4k
I think there has been a misunderstanding, the Input lag I showed here was from the Native Resolution test from the controller, and later I showed the monitor and TVs. so the controller input lag stays the same regardless of the monitor or TV, but the picture input lag changes based on the TV. so if the controller has a 30ms input lag and the TV has 10ms, you'll get a 20ms delay from when the picture is shown to the moment the action is done, and each frame = 8.33ms in 120Hz mode. so 20ms can be about 2 frames delay.
So for LESS input lag on the EDGE is it better plugged in the FRONT or the BACK of the PS5 ? And what setting with bluetooth ON or OFF? And how much input lag is the difference? To see if is worth it one way over the other . Thank you for your hard work
about the ports, they all give you the same result (all are capable of 1000Hz with Edge after the latest test I made) I'd prefer Cable, not BT for Edge. the difference might be up to 2 frames.
Recently, I got a Samsung Odyssey Neo G7 monitor LS32BG750NPXXU, and I have been looking at the settings whether to play in 1440p or 4K. I noticed that to play in 1440p, I have to have an option called VRR control on. However, I have seen somewhere that said having this option on causes input lag, something like 15.3 ms, I think it said. Does that mean I would be better off playing in 4K instead of 1440p?
Have a Question....is it better to play CoD MW3 on PS5 with static 120FPS (without VRR) or with VRR an dynamic FPS. In second case i have drops between 110-120.....so, whats u say ?
Hi, you have drops when VRR is off too, it just doesn't sync anymore, we've done a new test for FPS you can check here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Xnl0v1TAMLA.html
i was hoping this video would bring light to how i can tune the Standard, Linear or Dynamic Slope ingame so that i can match it with the default response curve of dualsense edge but i guess i was expected to much 😂 Still a great video nonetheless
Thank you! testing the curve section is a huge work, over 10 hours for each controller with a slope scale of 1, but if I want to test even 5 steps (0-25-50-75-100) I have to take much more time and maybe weeks for both controllers, but I will cover that in future videos, I'd start with 0 Vs. 100 and will test the rest slowly.
I have a Samsung Odyssey G7 and playing on 1440p 120 HZ is the greatest thing they ever did for console. I play on the ps5 and I can for the most part keep up against pc players. All you really need is a 1440p monitor with a high refresh rate and a custom controller 👍🏼
Hello ,great video! For you , for better fps , does : "texture demande / fidelity fx cas / hdr / fov " affect the fps ?? All on off or on for better fps in games on ps5 ? (Like warzone etc . ) thanks a lot for your content ,amazing work !
Hi thanks, I haven't tested them in-depth yet so I can't provide false information, I only tested FidelityFX and 50 seems more optimized than the rest (0 was worse in my 5 tests.)
Hi excellent videos congratulations, I wanted to know if I have a 60hz to have the minimum delay on the dualsense edge, which resolution is the best 1080p or 4k? unfortunately I don't have the 120hz but I will buy it in the future
Hi, based on the tests the higher resolutions have lower input lag, but I haven't tested 60Hz in 1080p, however I'd guess it's the same for 60Hz, try 4K and that's probably faster.
Love ur content ❤ i wanna see more curves videos :P thank you :D i would rly like to know if its posivle to make linear curve in WZ by manipulate with slope scale and pairing it with edge curves that should be fun
You might be the smartest, I appreciate this info, Danial, for slope scale dynamic is .90 or .80 better? Why do you prefer it is there more advantage or not really I’m confused to what lowering it does and I’d like to know your knowledge on this
That's kind of you, there are a lot I don't know and mistakes I make in videos, about the Dynamic I chose it because the start of linear and Standard is way too slow and ease in causes low response overall, making sensitivity higher makes it hard to control in long ranges, but I'ma test slop scale curve for the next video to see which becomes a linear one, I currently play with 0.90.
Hi, I use an app called DSX and DS4 and Gamepad Viewer with a custom-made USB repeater to duplicate the signal from the controller and get the details on the screen as I press buttons. Still, the final input lag is measured differently not with PC. as the PC is idle input delay not in-game.
Hi Daniel, you know, however, that in certain games I prefer to play more without HDR, so that the graphics are more refined and darker. I like them more that way. Maybe with an OLED the HDR is better and less foggy
One more question please. I have ps5 and lg c2 77"... to have more fps i have to put vrr on ps5 on off and on the tv off too. Or i have to keep both on? Tx
I think some games have fix frames of 60 or 120 while others can be an option of both. You just need to check on some guides particular to the games you are playing and your particular tv model with the vrr implementation. If your tv has frame counters and notice some drops while gaming, then turn on vrr and check the differences.
Hi, VRR syncs screen refresh rate with the game output to provide a smooth picture with no tearing, I'd suggest keeping it on, having it off didn't help with lower input delay on controller based on the tests I recently made.
can i use a usb-c to usb-c for this to work the same way in my ps5? I cant use usb-c to usb-a since my ps5 headset is connected through the usb-a port. Thank you, ur amazing!
I personally use Dynamic now as the start part isn't as slow as others, even linear is a bit slow at the start, but I'd test the slope scale to see when it's on 0 which one is the fastest.
La verdad, es que me interesan todos los vídeos que has propuesto, me parecen muy interesantes, muchísimas gracias por tu ayuda, me encantó tu contenido, saludos!
Yes, VRR doesn't add Controller input delay in MW3, I tested that over 6 times and it was almost the same. but it may add a slight delay to the picture which I haven't tested that. nice Idea I'll work on that one.
On the C2 when it came out, people suggested to change input to PC and not console. Can you test input delay or picture quality between those 2 inputs.
@@DanielZH The reason why I'm asking. People said that a firmware changed things and no longer needed to be in PC mode when connected to a PS5. Before I was on PC input now on console but I can't really tell the difference
For me the dualsense edge analogs also feels slower. Is it possible that the edge have different analogs. I mean they plugged with usb maybe thst causes analog delay. Hoe are the normal dualsense analogs connected to the controller?
What happened video you tested input delays while the dualsense and dualsense edge had audio devices plugged directly into the controller input delays while muted via controller, etc? I can't find it anywhere
Very informative as always i hope one day u do a video on fortnite and how much is a difference between pc and ps5 in term of input delay and how aim assist is different on both and thanks for your work you are the best🔥🔥
Hey can you do a video on azeron n mouse on the ps5? I feel like there is alot of delay n my friends are constantly telling me console isn't meant for mouse so I should just switch to controller. I can't find any vids on latency or anything on the ps5 for azeron n mouse. Thanks
@@DanielZH azeron isn't a game. Its a gaming device. Azeron replaces the keyboard for gaming. It has a joy stick n like 20 keys n it works with your mouse
One issue.... the consoles cant do 4k 120 FPS.... Well technically speaking they cant do 4k 60 FPS either, or 1440p 60 or 120 FPS, all of them are upscaled from much lower resolutions, and why would latency decrease when your putting more strain on the system... how are you measuring the delay? with a stop watch... what what is the delay on your TV
Hi, You can check the last video for the method of testing: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-smRW5VfpPbE.html But in short: The method is currently done by connecting the PS5 to a capture card with an input lag of 31ms in the capture (tested with Input delay testing hardware and taking the monitor delay off the results to match the RAW input), then using a custom USB tool to connect the Controller to the PS5 and monitor the button presses simultaneously on the PC (with a delay of 1-3ms), recording on OBS (while there's no drop frames in either of hardwares) and checking how many frames it takes from the moment the button is pressed to the moment the game reacts to that action, doing many calculations regarding Idle input delay, real-time Polling rate tests, monitoring FPS with the VRR data for a reliable test and sometimes using trdrop with RAW ProRes recorded Videos (handereds of GB data for a single video) and the final input lag is based on the capture card delay, so there's no affection of the connected screen to the input lag readings, these are not RAW data from the hardware on console though but the difference between modes are reliable, I used to explain and show how it's done in every single video, but since no one would like to see that much of nerdy info pepople wouldn't watch my videos and there were low viewes, so I removed the testing parts for good reasons and I share the resutls instead. Everything I shared here is the basic part of it, there are a lot more in the process of testing and that's the reason why it takes weeks to do a few tests.
Hi, is the game mode on and playing at 120Hz with game optimizer mode? Can't be sure if that's due to the TV settings the game or the network settings such as NAT Type.
Yes 120Hz,game mode optimizer on, tested true motion as well, even tried fov 80 as well. But no luck....wifi speed is also good...not sure what causing this issue. Though thanks for replying 👍
The PS5 settings in that section reflects some games settings, but in some other it's what you choose in the game, so as long as the game is set to 120FPS mode (for example) those settings in COD won't affect.
Hmm are you sure thats higher Resolution gives lover inputlag? With VRR on 4K i noticed a higher Input Delay cpmpared to 1080p without VRR. I play with MnK
So according to your results the ideal configuration would be the following: 2160p resolution, VRR activated. Is this configuration the one that would give you the least input lag? The doubt is with the VRR
