You should put the bill in on 1/3/2023 because that's the vendors bill date. You then need to accrue the expense in 2022 and reverse the accrual in 2023.

Yes you are 100% correct however this treatment is way over the head of the majority of QuickBooks users and would just complicate matters for the everyday user

Hi. I was looking to renew my Quickbooks Desktop Pro for 2023. Amazon and Costco don’t sell it. Has Intuit discontinued selling the desktop version? Is everything moving to the cloud? If so, I really despise that they’re doing this…

They are moving desktop to a subscription basis where they make you upgrade to the new version every year.

No. You want to follow this process regardless

@@QbuniversityOrg specifically the part about the bill date. If you’re reporting on cash basis. If you only recognize expenses when cash is paid wouldn’t it be okay to leave the bill date the same as when the bill is paid?

@@cecesca7310 I wouldn’t. The reason is because if you toggle between cash and accrual Qb will recognize the date paid as the expense for cash basis but if you want to ever look at accrual entering the bill date as the date paid will throw it off
