this has got to be one of the best channels on youtube. I never looked at the ingredients or caloric values on food until some health issues but this channel takes that awareness to a whole new level. Thanks flavcity!

@operacody12 I try to buy the bags at Costco or Sam's club. They sometimes put it on sale. And due to the high price, I portion it out and don't eat it (seafood in general) too often.
Indonesia as shown on the label, as a country that mostly islam i didn't think that they would make their shrimp feed on pig feces as pig farms are rare in the country and avoided because it's considered "haram"..

I get certified organic aquaculture raised shrimp, certified antibiotic free and it’s from South America usually. I don’t know how much better it is, but it sure must be a bit better. I eat them rarely anyway, once a month or so.
Hey man at the local fishmarket told me a few years ago that tiger shrimp is the only one that is not farm raised so that’s what I’ve been buying ever cents for holidays and special occasions.

I read that the Queen never ate shrimp because they are bottom feeders. In our polluted oceans that's not a good thing. We have to stop dumping trash in the Oceans and seas. Other countries are doing it too.

Let’s get one thing straight though, wild caught shrimp are poop fed as well. That’s what shrimp do, they eat poop and detritus from other organisms. Lobster, crawfish, etc… all the same

Great point, Bobby! This is the only type of shrimp I buy. Years ago I watched a video of farm-raised fish in SE Asia (can't remember the exact country). The fish were literally around the house. The family was feeding them human feces🤢 I never bought farm-raised from outside of the US again!
Unfortunately It was found that the label “certified sustainably caught” can be a gimmick in a sense that we can’t police this process. Is the way I understood it.
As someone from the ASEAN nation, it's partly true. Those pens are called fish pond here. Maybe it's true that they used antibiotics on commercial frozen shrimps but I've never bought one. We bought shrimp fresh from fish market caught wild in the open sea.
i feel like it’s alright with shrimp because they are pretty lean, the heavy metals, pesticides and waste really does finally reside in the fat. farmed Salmon i feel is definitely way worse because of its higher fat contents, especially the farmed atlantic salmon
There are some extensive shrimp farms (e.g. in Vietnam) where they only stock the fingerlings but do not add feed or anything else until they are ready for harvest. This comes closer to wild caught. But this makes up max 1% of the total volume of farmed shrimp.
Fun fact: indonesia is majority religions is muslim so its impossible that they feed with pigs poo becasue it's gonna make the shrimps isn't halal so they feed using a pellets maybe it's gmo and the import grade shrimps is more expensive in indonesia because its like more premium grade and the lower grade is expensive enough in indonesia so shrimp is not daily food for us the cheapest shrimp is the fresh water shrimp maybe for american frozen shrimp is cheap enough but here its still expensive and yes i'm indonesian
I wish I could afford better shrimp, but right now at the restaurant supply store I get broken shrimp pieces (fully cooked, deveined, tail off) for $7. Did I mention it was 2 lbs? I have to eat what I can afford.
When I was in north central FLorida on vaca, we couldn’t get ANY Gulf shrimp at nice seafood restaurants!! What is that about? We definitely voiced our opinion that we couldn’t come back. Hope more places start getting USA wild shrimp and other wild fish.
I'll only stop if I'm allergic to shrimp like my dad and husband. I love shrimp and will keep eating it unless I become allergic to it. I've had no problem eating
My father had farm lands in India near the sea which is very expensive as you can draw sea water directly for raising fishes and shrimp etc Expect my father rest of land lords removed the coconut tress and made them into shirmp farms . You don't want to eat shrimp if you saw what they put to these fishes and shrimps 😅. They even export to USA in tons and tons .don't believe what they write on walmart packets

Yeah thank god for the Gulf of Mexico where American companies just spill clean oil into that body of water and none of the countries that share that water pollute at all either 😅
Anything from Asia is a problem, in america it's just one of many things like glyphosate, natural and artificial flavors, inflammatory oils, petroleum based preservatives etc, nothing happens.
When you go out to eat or grocery shopping, you need to start asking where your seafood is coming from. Please stop eating imported shrimp and fish. It’s not healthy for you.
You have to eat farm raised. Check the ingredients of wild caught: Sodium bisulfate, sodium tripolyphosphate. There’s a healthy farm raised at Walmart with no antibiotics or chemicals and the taste difference is evident.
There are no wild caught shrimp varieties at major grocery stores without these chemicals ingredients. Coupled with this, there are some ethically sourced farm raised products.
