Elder abuse happens when an older person is harmed by someone they know and trust. Sadly, many instances of elder abuse occur within family relationships.
Older people can experience abuse in various forms - including financial, emotional, physical or sexual abuse. It can also result from neglect. Anyone can be affected by elder abuse, regardless of their background, culture or lifestyle.
If you are experiencing abuse, or are concerned about an older person in your life, call the Elder Abuse Helpline on 1300 651 192 for confidential advice, support and referrals.
