He's saying that the benefit for upgrading in this order is that when you run out of bronze to upgrade, having these pieces prioritized will leave you with better dps for grinding more bronze. It's like saying you're dps is 14000 over 13890 for a proc. Is it a huge difference? No, but when you can have 9 different potential procs with a difference like that, it adds up and that gives a noticeable benefit. If your tinker gems get a benefit from the gear level, and you run out after upgrading your movement gear and a passive shield, you won't see ANY difference in ease of slaughter... just better survivability outside of the stamina boost. But if you put those upgrades in your proc-ing tinker gear and weapon, your damage goes up faster for a similarly leveled character. That means easier, faster, kills and less time for the npcs to hit you, mitigating things like shields and self-heals. That translates to more kills and thus faster bronze/thread accumulation. Think of it like a car. You can up its top speed, but if the acceleration sucks, you don't go as fast when you have to make turns or stop frequently. Top speed is good, but if you can't get there often, you might as well stay out of a race. So, say top speed is 100, but you only average 45 because of turns/stops, you're wasting more time getting there than actually being at high speed. If you take acceleration, you'll at least hit your top speed quickly, and be able to respond to turns/stops faster. So your top speed will be more like your 'normal' speed. If your top speed is only 80, but you average 65 because you can go from 0-80 in 10 seconds, you're going to be at your max speed more often than not, and able to eat up the difference that a 'faster' car will have on anything but straightaways. Both are good traits, but if you can't actually use all of your potential, it's lost advantage. It's optimization in the shortest terms.
well put, kimudo! The later upgrades is where it is really going to matter since it gets crazy expensive. Also, the double bronze buff that just came out is helping a lot with this grind too
