Can we just stop and speak about how kind and warm hearted this gentleman is? The fact that he keep assuring us to make the decision and try whatever we want to, is just wonderful ‼️
Thank you for your comment. I was just thinking the exact same thing. Can people please stop criticizing. Please focus on the positive and stop looking at negative things and spreading your thoughts. This man is trying to help us and all I read is criticism. If you do not like his advice, I have a solution for you. Simply do not watch his videos. As for me, I like and definitely considers his advice. There’s enough negativity in the world right now, keep it positive when someone is trying to help you out. I am not at all interested in reading your negative comments. I’m sorry if I sound abrupt, but I simply don’t understand people continuing to watch videos if they do not like the content. Sounds very simple and reasonable to me..
I'm really hoping the youtuber/ influencer trend dies down. Ive noticed ppl are following advice from actual mua's, aestheticians and dermatologists a lot more now.
As a licensed esthetician it is like nails on a chalk board listening to influencers talk skin and product. They don’t know the integumentary system. They know nothing about professional product because they can’t get it, as they aren’t licensed. I wish people would seek out trained, currently licensed professionals and take their advice over this new generation of “gurus.”
Girl you’re not alone... as soon as Wayne said “if you’re one of these people, you may want to rethink your life decisions.” I was like oh shite he’s totally talking to me lmao!😂😂💀💀🤣🤣
I never understood the baking thing but whatever makes you happy ;) I'm not, personally, big on that "china doll" porcelain look. Skin has flaws, freckles; show them off!! You are beautiful..
I've heard it tends to look really good with stage lights. From what I know a lot of these things were started by drag queens and it looks great on stage, where they perform but terrible in natural light
@@sarraahjaanee Ummm it was actually a rhetorical question. Obviously people can wear whatever makeup they want. The point is, the makeup techniques mentioned above rarely look good or natural in everyday life. But go for it if a glowing nose or caked on powder makes one happy😂
I want to scream “stop applying makeup like a YT/IGer” at half the girls at Sephora/Ulta. Ugh. Those girls don’t look like that IRL, and their makeup looks different IRL too. There’s a difference btw stage, print & daily makeup.
So true... im by no means a model... but i’ve worked as one enough to know for makeup to show up on camera there needs to be a LOT of it! The camera has a way of washing things out... so makeup for camera or stage looks CRAZY IRL! 😂 lol ... Natural makeup that looks beautiful IRL looks like basically nothing/no makeup on camera/in photos... that’s as it should be... especially for daytime... the only time more glam really looks good in-person OR on-film, is at night... because there is less light & we actually need more darkness & definition to bring out our features, & highlight pops with a flash. But for daytime, do what you want! Im all for creative freedom! I love something fun like a neon graphic liner - there are no real rules but... there is objectively bad makeup when it just misses the mark of what it was obviously trying to do. Cake never looks good. Stripes never look good. And generally, darker smokey doesn’t look good during the brighter daylight. I just think less really is more, & natural/no-makeup makeup, and soft matte glam (no smoke/glitter/shimmer, just soft/matte open/bare/neutral lids, at most a deepened crease & a soft smudged out liner or little wing) are best for daytime. Generally I’m just tired of trends. I prefer classics. There are a handful of classic makeup looks that are universally flattering, and they’re really all you need. Most of the trends are variations on the classics anyway, some more extreme than others. The Fox Eye trend is basically just a hybrid or mix of soft, natural glam (little wings) with an arabic inspiration (inner corner waterliner) & no-makeup makeup (subtle/natural).
You’re the type of woman that no one else likes. Just let them do what they want to do. They work in a beauty store. Sheesh. Of course they are going to love and adore makeup. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder
Ngl, when I first started contouring and watching RU-vidrs do tutorials, thought it was SUPPOSED to look grey! I hated that on my skin so I just used bronzer and no highlighter. 8 years later, still trying to figure out how to use highlighter in a flattering way.
I’ve tried to tell people how ridiculous they look with the tip of their nose lit up like Rudolph, how the way their highlighting doesn’t do them any favors, etc. & I’ve been dragged to hell every damn time.
When someone highlights the tip of their nose like you did (excessively) it’s so distracting to me. My brain just says - Rudolph the shiny nosed reindeer ...
Hi Wayne. Do you think you might be able to do a tutorial or show some photos of three or for basic face shapes and how to best highlight/contour if one chooses to? I think it would be quite helpful! xx
I think is just a matter of looking carefully at your face and decide WHAT IS GOOD FOR YOU. What works on your face shape and what makes you more attractive and gives you more personality
thank goodness we were reminded gently but firmly what highlighting does- bring attention to that area and make it stand out. It’s easy to mindlessly do what you see influencers do on models, but bearing in mind your best features and face shape is so crucial in getting a highlighted look that’s actually flattering. The way it was demonstrated here is perfect 🙏🏼🙌🏼
@peachyvibezz : thank you ❣ You said it much better as I could do (I'm German). You find exactly the Words I'm searching for...you get it 👌💞👏 Wayne is a real "Sweetheart" and a gorgeous Teacher and a Psychologist 😂😉😍🤗 ❣✌
I usually just sit in front of a window when I do my make up, it's really helpful in making one see how crazy some minor imperfections in technique can make one look
This is awesome info! Could never figure out why my eyes looked like I just ran into a pillar!!! 😵 Pls do a makeover for matured women w/ baggy lower lids🙏
Thank you so much for this video! I’m of the “wise” age of 68 & try to just highlight spots that naturally get sunlight bouncing off. I could not figure out how to make the cheeks look good due to puffs under eyes. Thank you for teaching me where to highlight! You are a gem and so very appreciated! I am looking forward to your new eye palette as well. Your formulas are amazing. ❤️
I went to a restaurant which had a long line outside to get in. A guy in front of me was waiting for his date. When she walked up he looked shocked and ask what happened to her. She said nothing, but her face was strangely highlighted. She looked like a cartoon. He then said "Your face!
Ive been watching you and Lisa Eldridge for years. Yesterday, I asked my children (who are brutally honest, btw), if my makeup looked okay. They said I always "just looked pretty", and they could not tell when I was or wasn't wearing. The youngest said he was so glad I didn't look like "the rest of the moms." Mind you, Ive been trying to perfect the "invisible makeup" routine for a while. You absolutely rock! My kids have given you four thumbs up!😍
You always speak the truth!! I’m going to say it. - that nose tip highlighting thing just looks ridiculous. It looks like a bird has pooped on their nose. 🤣
I was think the same thing today. The highlights that look good on camera doesn't necessarily look fresh and dewy in real life. They can look overly shiny and oily too. So we need Wayne in our lives to guide us all the time 😊❤👍thank you Wayne darling.
@@indiangirl001 My main is the HOURGLASS AMBIENT LIGHTING TRIO PALETTE and my highlighter is the middle (incandescent light) shade in the palette. It's very natural not glittery and that's how I prefer it :)
Thank you Wanye, I love how you bring a real discerning artist's eye to RU-vid. When I watch your videos I feel like I just walked into grownup land, complete with brain cells and everything. I Love your work!
I specifically remember when I was going through professional makeup school, every instructor I had said to stop your nose highlight short, so that you weren’t bringing the tip of your nose forward even more. I mean, if you’re trying to look like latter day Michael Jackson, go on ahead, but damn, Rudolph.
Hello Wayne! 🌠 Great video! I was always wondering why people are doing the same thing like they came from the same factory. 🤔 We have different age, skin texture (if you have acne for example you really don't want to highlight that 🙄), face shapes, wrinkles and so on. My advice would be to put some moisturizer on your skin, stand in front on the window and turn your face in many angles like you are going to take a selfie ( or even do that) and check where your face is catching light, which features you like the most in your face and highlight them. 👸 People who have a hollow or bags under eyes and smile wrinkles to put highlighter on you cheek bone might not be flattering at all. Same with the forehead, if you have wrinkles there or between your eyes, so called 11s then these places are not for highlighting. 🤓 Everyone has different shapes of noses and unfortunately not many people like their nose ( we can see that from the amount of nose jobs being done...). If you think that your nose is too wide, too long, bumpy, not straight or you have acne on it, you probably don't want to highlight these issues. Its better to play with the contouring in that case and correct what you don't like. Good luck everyone and Happy Holidays from Lithuania! 💖🎉
I don't Highlight. The Highlights emphasises my wrinkles when i smile and my cheek skin looks very struktured. I don't know if this is the proper word but it doesnt look good
I haven’t found any foundation or concealer that truly conceals wrinkles/crepey skin. Some just aren’t as bad as the others, even the ones formulated for older skin. I’ve found that dabbing a tiny bit of silicone-based primer on crows feet after foundation takes the edge off the enhanced wrinkle effect from foundation
I'm surprised there were no say about how they highlight their T-zone, with the space between the eyebrows specifically, while it's usually the very space that gets oily first and actually you don't want it shiny.
I’ve been watching you on RU-vid for over a decade now and I love that you, as a person, are still the same guy I knew when I first started watching you years ago. Much love, Wayne! ♥️
You've confirmed what I've always thought about cheek highlighter on my face; it just emphasizes the bags. When I do use it, I apply it up high like you suggested. Thanks Wayne!🤗
I literally touch an old pan of shimmer highlight to the tip of my nose, then wipe the back of my hand over to smudge it. I like the little tiny bit of shine on my mature (52) complexion.
I love highlighter, and I did realize that, on my cheek area, I was emphasizing my eye lines (I'm 57), so, thank you for showing me how to apply my beloved highlighter so as NOT to draw attention to my eye lines!
I used to love highlighter when I was in my early/mid twenties but now that I’m 31 I like a softer glow. I agree with what you said about the hollows of the eye so I put the highlighter right next to it, sort of going upwards just into my temple area. Love your videos.
I like blending up to my temples and even midway towards my eyes, bc that is where light naturally hits my face. I also like a sparkly blush or a touch of highlighter on my cheeks.
I think this happened to all of us when we were in our 20s just following trends. Now I think we realize softer more subtle makeup makes us look our age/younger and dramatic makeup ages us. I’ve realized this in many areas simple + subtle= sophistication whereas dramatic+flashy=immature
@@camcat26 I do this too. Also, Milani Soft Glow (I use the lighter one because I have light skin) under foundation also looks lovely. Gives your face a "glow from within" look without looking like a disco ball 👍
OMG, THANK YOU! I can't stand the cookie-cutter Instagram highlighted noses and mass-produced eyebrow look. James Charles is beautiful, but I don't want to look like him. I want to look like myself.
For baby hair try Twinkle razors, they have packets of them for cheap on Amazon, and RU-vid has a lot of videos on how to shave your face safely- and your hair doesn't grow back thicker or darker
I don't use make up. Lazy, is all. But you make it all so interesting. I just wanna go get a set of fancy makeup brushes and some tints and see what I can make of it.
OMG the Rudolf nose highlighting makes me 😤😤😤😤..... Why why why do you want to look like a light bulb? Worst is brides.... Oh in years to come they're going to look at those photos and cry
Personally, and this is only my opinion.... the Rudolph nose.... just say no.... when people see my face I would rather their attention is either on my eyes, or my lips, or just nice skin.... having someone stare at the tip of my nose?? Nooo whyyyy?? Thanks for another fab video Wayne! ❤️
Thank you for these tips & for acknowledging that everyone has their own idea of beauty! I used to be highlight crazy in high school, but now I’m in my mid-20s and don’t want to have IG model makeup 24/7. I highlight my cheeks, subtly highlight my eyebrow bone & just a little bit on the tip of my nose bc I think it’s pretty if done *very* lightly. I also LOVE highlighting the inner corner of the eyes 😍 That’s personally a must!
Wayne, thanks a lot for this video! ❤️😘 I also have this pocket under the eye and since i saw so many youtubers highlighting that area i was wondering why it wouldn't work for me! 🤔😄 I could see the difference but until today i didn't know what exactly to change
A lot of how I learned to do makeup was in Theatre (where it is a lot more "exaggerated" because you're on stage under stage lighting ect.) and watching your videos has really helped me learn to do my makeup in a way that actually looks good in person 😂 thanks so much for this.
The centre nose tip highlighting never made sense after you slim the nose down with contouring. Nose always ends up looking bigger than it was initially.
I’m in my mid to late 40’s and I only highlight places that can actually be seen with a mask . I find it kind of weird to see the tip of the nose highlighted , to me that looks like a very bright “ candle watt “ light bulb . Just doesn’t look professional, quite honestly. When I go into a fancy “ retailer “ the girls behind the cosmetic counter try to “ nab “ me when they see my skin. Even though I am wearing makeup, they are trying to “ sell “ it, by saying “ wow , your skin is so perfect... “ ( but that’s a minuscule amount of makeup, no kidding. ) It’s kind of annoying, to be honest. I highlight to raise my features, ( mainly my high cheekbones. )
When you had that highlighter on the tip of your nose it was so hard for me to take what you were saying seriously. I was laughing on the inside because SO MANY people highlight their nose like that and the song " Rudolph the red nose reindeer had a very shiny nose" comes straight to my head. Your the best and I'm glad people can learn how to do their makeup the non RU-vid way.
I actually like the Rudolph look. 😂😂😂 I have a very slender nose, and I just like the extra cinched, barely can breath, Egyptian goddess look it gives me.
I for one very much appreciate your advise and love the way you explain the little tricks that make big results. That and you have such a great vibe ❤️
🌼I highlight just like you mentioned in the video 😂 but I’ve found that it suits my face shape. However, I’ve noticed that using a finely milled good quality highlighter and the correct make up tools. Can make a huge difference from looking like a disco ball, to looking dewy and healthy. 🌼 🦋I wish there were more beauty gurus, who taught people about the difference between beauty tools. Synthetic and real hair brushes, different methods of application. The importance of proper lighting e.t.c🦋
I do my cheek bones but do it far back from my eyes because I don't like how it makes my eye bags stand out. I never do the tip of my nose. I don't want to look like Rudolph the red nosed reindeer. I do my forehead above my eye brows. I haven't done the cupid's bow but have thought about it. I love your makeup tips, they help me so much. I'm 62 and I am trying to look my best with my ever changing skin.
Dermatica has completely changed my skin!!! My skin is so smooth, no acne flare ups & is sooo much less red & I've only been using it 3 months. Fine lines are disappearing and I'm saving so much money compared to my old routine. Thank you soo much for the recommendation, I've got my sister & friends on it too!
I am totally with you on this...i believe strongly in "to each his (hers/their) own", and i also truly do not "get" some of the current trends. In my admittedly irrelevant opinion, the blinding tip-of-the-nose highlight is soooo distracting. It's all i see when people do it. The other makeup trend that i really REALLY don't understand is applying blush to the very tip of the nose. It reminds me of the Sneezes from the 1970s movie Puff The Magic Dragon. Across the bridge of the nose is so lovely---like a little bit sunkissed , but on the tip of the nose...it just looks...unwell. Thoughts? PS...not judging anyone who likes/uses those looks. I'm an imperfect person with opinions and preferences...and no desire to offend anyone. ❤
Glasses make a huge difference. My sister in law who has warm brown skin loves very cool and bright silver eyeshadow because it shows through her glasses.
I’m 2 months late but I buy a lot of makeup because I fall for the trap LOL. But I sometimes have to step back and remember makeup is suppose to be fun and I won’t look just like the tutorial
