5 seconds is a perfect max. I typically take 3-4 second hits. Any longer and the wick dries out. 10 seconds or more between hits is best. Also, preheating will melt new oil into the wick giving you a cleaner and fatter hit.

Thank you! I'm 71 yo and really love flower but vaping is supposed to be easier on my lungs so when I first tried it, my youngest daughter told me to wait til it blinks!!! I can't thank you enough. Turned down the heat (I have not been blinking since I restarted using a vape about 3 weeks ago but I had the heat up and coughed a lot) pulling for 2-3 seconds. Voila! Perfect. Much gratitude to you.

I just recently learned how important low voltage is!! I’m a new smoker and I recently switched from disposables to Cart&Battery. I just randomly assumed higher is better with voltage so I kept my battery at 4.2v 24/7. I was wondering why I was only able to take tiny ass hits and why I was never getting high. I even bought a few more batteries thinking that 4.2v wasn’t high enough lol. Until a week ago, when my battery accidentally got put back in the lowest setting 3.2v, my life changed. I was able to rip a nice sized cloud for once.. and I got torched. I hope one day a new stoner with the same issues stumbles upon this comment.

For anybody picking up carts I’d recommend a battery like the yocan uni pro (or something similar). they’ve got variable wattage and can go down a lot lower than most other batteries which has really upped my cart experience. My range is usually 2.4w-2.8w and taking a few rips at that level is way nicer than getting one or two huge puffs at once. I’ve also noticed I go through carts slower with it, so that’s an added bonus btw, not affiliated w yocan or anything i just love the battery lol

Love these videos man. Us stoners really need to care more about our health and the things we're doing to our bodies with some of these products. I don't smoke carts but I never knew blinkers were so bad so thank you for the wisdom lol I will be passing on to friends who smoke carts.

Only recently started vape pens and the comment about blinkers actually helped clear up something i was noticing where the pens i did blinkers on would leak after a couple days.

Years ago, the girl at the dispensary told me to hit it until it blinked. But that was before these electronic ones came out and it was the ones that you just drew on, there wasn't a button, you just sucked on it until the light blinked... Thank you. My daughter always wants them on the highest setting.. I just turned mine down and damn... what a difference!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️

I lost my leg a year ago in a motorcycle accident. I was already a smoker but now it’s the only thing that works for nerve pain. So from the moment I wake up I take lil 2 second hits throughout the day and each time that erases my pain for a bit. Just goes to show that 2 seconds is sufficient. I’ve never taken a blinker actually, I would just dab.

Aside from being 19 and fresh out of HS I hit blinkers regularly and had a feeling something bad happens within but didn't bother searching up. Coming across this I think I'll limit my blinkies from now on lmao I've had carts go from good to bad that may explain why.

I’d like to add that burning your coils at high temperatures creates carcinogens that you wouldn’t get at lower temps whether it’s thc or nic salts

The blinking mainly just for the battery’s sake, and most coils are made of kanthal which is rated for over 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit. No ones hitting that from a few blinkers

Just now looking at your vids . I love them and you are right about the blinkers except you can also try 1 thing . Ever blinker you take , after you hit it , take it out and feel how hot it is . I usually take 1 stizzy blinker sometimes 2 back to back with the big battery , I can tell you that my pods are not hot at all . Who ever reads this might think I’m lying but I have both kinds of stizzy batteries and I always check my pods to see if they’ve been overheated. So far no overheating. After I take my 1 or 2 blinkers I let my pos rest for 2-6 mins depending on when I want to take another . But I’m not saying you are wrong . Love all of your videos man!! Much love!❤️

Definitely agree with you when it comes to cheaper batteries and carts but some of the more expensive products are designed with people that hit blinkers in mind so they don't get nearly as hot as the cheaper alternatives.

I’m not saying your wrong, your completely right- well more like partially right. Higher end pens have a temp control on it and won’t get hot enough to where it’s burning off the metal into the oil. But most 10-20$ pens u shouldn’t hit for more than 4 secs

man I realized something was wrong when I pulled a cart out and it was still bubbling disconnected from the battery... Googled if the blinker time is too hot and found your vid right away, thanks man. woulda wasted this cart, thankfully only 20% through so far.

Never forget in high school when I saw a kid use 12v batteries with a wire to hit a cart, safe to say it worked but that cart was done (Edit) didn’t expect this to get that much likes lol i actually have the video if any one wants to see lol

Thats why i use a few batteries and a smoke on extra carts instead of smoking on one. Got smart on that one, then would let it cool down and hit the other pen and keep switching them

I’ve done this for a while now and noticed my carts holding onto their original flavor longer versus when I try my friends who takes much longer hits and usually has some burned taste to it

I had a pen with a digital timer to let you know how many seconds you hit it. I've found that between 2-3.2 seconds is perfect for me depending on the cart and what I need it for. But there's always someone who wants to out-smoke you 😆

A lot of people I know do blinkers, and it's wild. I don't even like carts. Distilled gives me just a fuzzy high with a headache sometimes. I way prefer flower or dabs.

That’s why you get a smart battery that has a blinker setting but it’s a variable voltage pen that tapers off the power for the cartridge making sure you don’t burn the oil and get any of that metal.

I did a video at an extraction lab recently and they told me that ideally you don’t even want to be smoking out of a metal cart for a lot of reasons. They said quartz carts are the best and ceramic carts are also nice but what you said in this video aligns with exactly what you said. Great video brother!!

There's a new cannabis influencer that I just recently found and he did like 20 videos in a row "blinkers in the mall" "blinkers on the beach" "blinkers in my car" yeah you get the point lol

I just recently found out that "Connected" on of the companies making these batteries has addressed the issue a bit. Rather than allowing a ten second pull it blinks after 4-5 seconds and makes you wait a couple seconds before allowing another hit

I thought the blink meant to stop - which I guess it does, but I didn't realize I should stop before then. It's really hard to figure out how to use a vape pen if you're a non-smoker, which I am. It feels weird to inhale. I've been told to pretend it's a straw and I'm taking a drink, only that's not really the same at all. Taking a drink and sucking in are two completely different things to my brain. Thanks for the info, from now on it's short little hits for me.

Ya know, this explains a lot. My mom and I are just now in an area where rec is available and thus, these concentrates are available. She loves carts but can't figure out why she burns through them so fast and I don't. But this explains it, she does blinkers all the time. She's an old stoner from the 70s where they were told to take the biggest hit and hold it as long as possible. And I've been trying to break her of those habits. Maybe this video will finally convince her. A cart lasts me 2x as long because I take "baby hits" aka small hits but consistently for about 20-30 minutes until I'm nice and baked. She tries to get blitzed off of 5 hits or whatever.

I've got a Vuber Pulse that automatically steps down the voltage to prevent burnout, but I still won't hit blinkers with it. That's just never sounded right.

I agree i always avoid blinkers, most batteries are 10 seconds or more, its fine for the first few hits but then it starts to get super burnt tasting, distalit carts are much better for big blinker hits, then live resin carts or rosin those i have to hit on a super low temp or the oil just gets super burnt. Also lots of batteries are just at super high voltages and burn the oil too fast my max is 3.0 for distalit oil anything over that it way too hot, live resin carts or rosin ones i try to hit on the lowwest possible temp my battery goes down to 1.8 which gives a nice flavorful hit

I think stiizy uses a ceramic heating element in its pods? Correct me if I'm wrong. They hit way bigger and wick faster for big seshes all without leaking metals into your oil. That's the best if you do not want to change your ways. Otherwise take care of your pods like this guy says

I used to hit blinkers couple years ago constantly cause I had that same mentality you mentioned but it was always painful af so I always had that little thought in the back of my head like does it hurt this much for everybody? am i just a pussy? lmao but slowly overtime i gradually went down to hitting it only 3-4 seconds at a time and then waiting like 30 seconds before hitting it another 3-4 seconds and then im chill for a while.

When you say the metal will "break down" I can only assume you mean oxidize. Vape coils are generally made of NiChrome wire, which contain Nickel, Chromium, and sometimes Iron. None of these compounds oxide forms are going to be soluble in vape oil, and even if they were, their boiling points are all well above 5000 degrees F so there is a zero percent chance that you will be inhaling any metal oxides. Now I still don't think you should be hitting "blinkers" but only because longer hits are going to be hotter and cause more damage to your throat and lungs. However weed is bad and you shouldn't smoke it unless you have cancer or cerebral palsy.
