Using a Variable Polarizing Moon and Planets Filter to watch the Moon without hurting the eyes with its extreme brightness. Although it doesn't damage the eyes, watching the Moon without any filter it's cumbersome and make us loose vision for a moment. With this variable polarizing filter from SVBONY you can watch the Moon with all the comfort. In this video i test the filter visually and with a ZWO 294 camera with surprising results.

Did you know that looking at the side of a white house when the sun is out is actually much brighter than looking at the full moon through a large aperture telescope? It seems so much brighter because when your eyes are dark adapted, they are about 1 million times more sensitive than during the day.
@DobsonianPower
@DobsonianPower 3 месяца назад
Yep. Actually we should do the opposite, to come from light to the telescope to watch the moon. It's interesting
@brianhayward8240

@@DobsonianPower Some people who are seriously into the moon swear by what you are saying here. Use a large aperture and let the eyes adjust to the moonlight. (de-dark-adapt) They claim details are better than putting another piece of glass in between the light and their eyes. And in fact blocking light.

I don't understand this polarizing instrument. Because this polarizing instrument capacity such as ND Filter. Is it possible the polarizing instrument do that? Or this polarizing instrument synergistically combine with ND filter include it? .

Is it bad to look at a full moon without a filter
@DobsonianPower
@DobsonianPower Год назад
No. It's uncomfortable but will not damage your eyes. The sun is the one that damage without a filter but not the moon.

A bright white house in direct sunlight is actually brighter than the full moon through a large aperture telescope. The shock to your eyes is that they are dark adapted when you look through a telescope. Your eyes are about 1 million times more sensitive when they are dark adapted. Our eyes are so amazing!

Someone said that if you get a variable polarizing filter that has two parts that can be separated, then you can put one part on your diagonal and the other on your eyepiece, which you can then simply rotate (the eyepiece) to adjust the polarization. This way you do not need to get the adapter that you suggest. Is this a good idea?
