In which I explain not only why Jonathan Demme’s Stop Making Sense (1984), starring the band Talking Heads, is the greatest concert film of all time, but also why that particular label - ‘concert film’ - undersells the movie and how we’re better off thinking of as a ‘experimental existential film noir musical’.
