the biggest thing to improve my snooker game is if i've ran out of position rather than hammer the black in for position on the next red I'll just pot the black with a power i'm comfortable with and try to get on the next red and if it doesn't happen just play safe
I like your videos good entertainment and help I am a good player and find lots of good help in your videos to remind me when i drift from good practices. Best online coach very good explanations excellent.
Thanks for this, I have been watching lots of videos on how to improve, but never know what shot to play. The trouble is they do not tell you where to hit the ball like you do in this one, thanks again for this now I know where I am going wrong. I have lost it a bit after not playing for two years because of the dreaded bug. Chris
Another great insight Steve. I love that you are making videos about situations that occur in real games. Being undecided between two ways of playing a shot, or trying to 'force' angles that aren't there, are problems that we all face yet there aren't many videos about these. Your guidance is very good advice for intermediate players. Another issue that intermediate players face is how and when to try to develop balls that are stuck on the cushion. There is nothing online about this subject, so a vid from you would be fantastic. Cheers!
I played pool for the last 6 or 7 years and i was quite good, so I wanted to start playing snooker since it is much harder than the pool. I found it difficult to adjust to the huge table and potting the balls as well as playing my shots straight and consistent. I found videos of this guy and I can guarantee to everyone who just started playing snooker that this guy is amazing and his tips improved my game so so much. Listen to everything that this man is saying and you will enjoy this incredible game much much more. Regard to everyone!!!
Please answer this question of mine... IS IT MANDATORY TO WEAR BLACK DRESS FOR SNOOKER PLAYERS,REFEREE, TABLE FITTERS,COACHES(including you sir) when they are on TELEVISION...🤔🤔🤔
We enjoy your videos. I watch them like a million times but the problem is the actual execution during the friendly games. Needless to say that during the tournaments the game completely goes haywire. During the regular practice alone I get quite close to what you teach. Though immensely helpful that your videos are. Unable to incorporate them in the actual games. Why?
1st video I've seen of yours. Main reason players miss shots is due to unintentional side thus 'poor cueing & pressure' ie Michael White a pro just look at his final striking of the ball his elbow plays the shot, other players are similar. Then look at top pros, their follow thru is straight as an arrow ie ronnie selby john higgins. I used to play with Matthew couch many years ago a top player top cuiest in the late 80's......
Thanks for the videos, i always find something to help in them. At a tangent what has caused the crescent shaped wear patterns on the side rail where you are standing? Cheers
Hi Steve please can you help I play snooker not to a high standard one very bad habit I've got is my cue tip is to far away from the cue ball how can I alter that many thanks from julian
Great as always, if I’m off I always go back to the basic and build up again. I’m a pool player but fundamentals are the same. I would Love to see you applying your thoughts techniques to English pool thanks again
Hi Dear How Are you? I watch your videos repeatedly and learn a lot and daily practice on Snooker table with the Tips you provide in Training Videos and Finally i become from almost single ball poter to 50 break player and now i don't pay much to snooker clubs because loser pay the frame charges,
Nice video. I noticed your feet were quite far apart. Is thisfor balance and to stop sidewards movement? The reason I ask is that I seem to pot better as a right hander by keeping my left foot close to the shotline...the only problem is I dont seem to play so well in matches like this?
Just the best balance for me, yeah. Slightly wider than shoulder width apart. The left foot is the one that isn't by the shot line, it will always been to the left side of it, it's the right foot that must be on the shot line.
Hi Steve could you do a video on a simple (very simple) practice routine and gradually getting more difficult so it highlights what you be doing wrong, Example blue into top pocket ok from 6 to 12 ins but then missing. Hope you get what I am asking. Thanks
Can I suggest a video? Since I'm in an area of local lock down, I'm only able to play on my own and in a club I normally don't go to so it's a bit more expensive than usual. Can you a suggest a a 1 hour practice routine than I can work on by myself, something that allows me to work on a bit of everything? Otherwise I end up playing a frame or two then do the T or a line up.
Make video from behind the shot..i think most of us make mistakes related while cueing not properly..so please make a video on potting black from various angles from behind the ball
Hey Steve. I play alot of pool . I've always put my chin on cue. But recently I've let my head of the cue quiet the distance. I seem to play a lot better this way. Should I stick to it or back to head on cue. I also wear glasses. Any advice will be appreciated. Thank you
I only get to play snooker casually once a week if I’m lucky and even then it’s doubles so it’s hard to improve but after watching lots of these vids I’ve noticed an improvement. If only I could play 3 or 4 times a week 😫
Exactly my mistake ... now I know. I am a beginner and I have this problem of making decisions on the shot rather than pre-planning it. I'm excited to practice this on the snooker table today. Thank you for making this great video, Barton.
Great video (again)! I have a question to anyone who knows the answer... I'm having difficulties with those power-follow-through shots, every time I try to follow through with the cue, aim differently or elevate the cue differently, the cue ball jumps and doesn't follow-through as much as I wanted. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong and can improve?
Mikael Doust you’re not getting through the cue ball. Power alone doesn’t achieve the outcome needed unless your cue is pushing through the ball and the cue hand is finishing at the chest. Make sure your bridge hand is near enough to the cue ball and you have enough cue and backswing available to generate the action required. It’s timing, solid, straight cueing and follow through that delivers the result, not power alone.
That's right! A good pre-shot-routine and planning is key to overcoming a lot of these problems. But don't overlook mistakes 4 & 5 ☝️ Mistake 4: Set up an angle that's too straight in your mind and get used to potting the balls and what height you need on the white. You'll amaze yourself as to how much you can move the white even when the pot is just off straight. Mistake 5: Get the fundamentals as good as can be. Once you have a solid base to work from, everything else follows from there.
Then keep practicing and then practice some more this is exactly what I am doing ... I need to keep my focus on the black perhaps I will go away and pot 1000 more blacks then realise I need another 5000 to get the pot consistent
An excellent video Steve! These really are the fundamental points to improve our game (beginner/average club players😊). Keep up the good work coach! Sadly we had a letter today, saying our club is closing, fortunately there are a couple of options here in the city, but...☹️
Oh no! Sorry to hear that. Hopefully you find one of the other clubs is nice once you get to know it. I think so many places have struggled since Covid hit us 😕
I'm in the States and play rotation, 9-ball mainly, and I love your videos! I've spent many years trial-and-error-fumbling over the lessons you cover perfectly here. Thank you.
REALLY Thank you Barton. You give us very good snooker advices for free. I'm sure plyers who learn snooker one-one and on the same table you coach them, will learn soon and very well! Kian from IRAN!🙂👍👍👍
@@BartonSnooker when its possible Steve, I have already planned on travelling to the Midlands for a hour or 2 coaching session with you. I know at the moment covid 19 is proving to be a major problem, but when its possible Steve, I'll be there and I'll book a session with you!😊😊thank you, Ian
@@ianwatkins6202 hi Ian. I am coaching full time on the table again now. I have been since August. I have private access to my table at the moment, so it's only ever me and my client in the room 👍
Excellent. Nicely explained. Would have been great if the psychological side of missing was also explained as sometimes, off the table events may also be a huge factor behind easy missing
