it's so important to be able to give ourselves a pat on the back because very often we don't have anyone to be the cheerleader that we might need to reinforce the efforts made towards our own self development, healing and growth🤗🙏
It IS very important to reward ourselves in some sort of form for us being diligent in our personal growth to better ourselves. My hat is off to those who have just made the first steps in wanting self improvement all the way to those leading by example and showing support and proving that sticking with it does pay off. Buy yourselves a present or do something you love. I did. 🤟
Dr. Snipes, you are just awesome. The energy in your presentations is fantastic. Consider an alternate route as a motivational speaker. p.s. You had me at: I am what I do. I am not my thoughts.
Oh my…you nailed it. This is already helping me so much. I used to be on top of everything and experienced trauma and spiraled. For years I have been stuck in my head. If I am stressed I can’t even focus at all. Overthinking has damaged me in many of ways you mentioned and now I have secluded myself. I could not pin point the reason for my behavior and thought it was depression (for years?). So now I can work on improving myself and think I will feel a lot better.
Thank you. I have been working hard for years and I am finally able to keep a good job for over 3 years now and support myself 100%. I have changed many of my poor characteristic traits and made progress in my mental stability nearly every year. I will watch all your Extremely Helpful often and share with friends. Thank you for responding.
@@leannehansen5478 so many of us have experienced trauma in some form but sometimes it is overwhelming and we feel we are stuck in a slippery pit. I am fortunate enough to have had an excellent counselor who truly understood. That is key. I went through intensive counseling for seven months 3x a week and 3 hour sessions. Some in group and some one on one. I would not be where I am today without counseling and putting action to what my counselor (Carol) taught me. I did the right thing even when others around me were not. Life is so much better. I was even able to get off anti depressants after 15 years. I will keep you in my thoughts and wish you blessings and the best life possible.
I am suffering with anxiety at the moment. Seems to have come out of nowhere and it's absolutely horrible. I feel paralysed and unable to attend to even simple tasks with my work. I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy. Very helpful video. Thank you.
You’re most welcome. I am sorry you are struggling with anxiety and I appreciate you watching. Other videos you might be interested in can be found at: ru-vid.comsearch?query=anxiety
Nice video and information. One posiible solution--- Reduce negative thoughts with a simple practice. Your breath is directly related to your mind [brain] causing negative thoughts-anxiety. For a relaxed life sit on a chair, back straight, eyes closed and observe the sensations of your incoming--outgoing breath at the entrance of the nostrils for around 5-10-15 minutes or more. Don’t fight your thoughts. Slowly the mind will relax. No deep breathing needed. Day or night, when taking a walk, when reading, on the phone, before sleep etc sit or lie down and observe your breath. Like me, make this a lifetime daily habit to have a good life. Avoid constipation as it affects the mind instantly. Best wishes Shyaaam Sir. -Counsellor.
I love in my head and it's very crowded in there. I'm being held captive in my head and can't break free. I moved into my head around age 4 and never moved out

I’m going through overthinking right now that’s why I’m watching this video and It’s tough, and it causes me procrastination and depression, I don’t do much I’m not productive, I barely do things I have to do. I’m going to school and thank God I still do my homework but I’m not focused. I would do better if I’m focused. I’m 34 years old, I left my job because I took the decision to start school, I worked in jobs and I don’t stay because of the load of studying. I also feel that I want to have my own family and I’m looking for a partner and someone who I talked to before came back and said that he is interested in me for a serious relationship, I thought about the past and what happened that things didn’t work out in the beginning, his sister refused me and now he said she passed away, he said he was not thinking about himself and letting his family deciding for his own life. Things I like in him, he’s educated he has a good job he’ll provide for his family, but I asked him that I want to continue my education and he seems reluctant…he thought he would pay for my education I told him he won’t. I’m just lost I don’t like myself in this situation
Thank you for sharing! Overthinking has been my bad habits for years due to my depression and anxiety, and I'm struggling to get better. It's not easy, but your informative videos and tips really help me through my hard times.
Thanks for your channel.. it helps me but I have a question in the case of you being In a situation where you don't have a friend or partner that can motivate you in your goal. When you feel lonely on your journey to achieve a goal how do you stay motivated

@@DocSnipes honetstly, I feel the hardest part for me is being aware. It seems to difficult to become aware when i am in a deep rumination that can last hours. I feel that if I can just learn to recognize the thoughts, it willl allow me to apply the skills,
What do you do when someone doesn’t show you as in hug you , hold you In their arms , any emotions , sympathy, empathy, or to let you know that they care and they want to be there for you but don’t do it because they don’t know what to do ?? Or know what to say, So they don’t do or say anything???? And you’re left feeling like they just don’t care ????
QUESTION>>>. How do I get started with a challenged daughter home 24/7?? Since COVID...i have my office, my desk, my printer...and my laptop. The only time I can write uninterrupted is when she and my dogs are sleeping. So, about 10pm...it's time. My problem is I'm exhausted..I need to center n regroup and get ready to work. I just can't get started...but once I finally drag myself in there and start writing, I can't stop. I try to limit, 1-2 chapters max or 1-2 short stories or edit 1-2 I've already written . My biggest omg is .I write in journals .not directly on laptop. I can't because it hinders my flow. So writing is easy, transferring to laptop is tedious and time consuming and I dread it. I also write in a few genres..YA..Mystery..Thriller . Horror.. Contemp Fiction. I also have a blog and a site..for writing about being a mom with a challenged child/teen..advice, tips, info...and I try to keep up but it's supposed to be 1x week. 8 sometimes feel unmotivated and don't keep up, other times I'm on it. I do have pain most days and depression. BIPOLAR DEPRESSION which is so hard to get thru and it does hold me back alot. If pain is low and depression not too bad im on it. Crohns is unpredictable and migraines have been so bad, but I really do my best.
I would like to see a world without people overthinking. What determines when you are overthinking? To me this idea is an fofshoot of a corprate mindset- here are the procedures, follow them. Yes, I get how how people overthink but you could say the same thing about artists. Only then we call them artists/comics etc. Think of George Carlin. This guy was spewing hatred and rage on the scene yet people laughed and loved him. What you are proposing is to "conform" to the reality- in a way.
So what you do you do if you have 3 traditional medicine nature healers like my Master Navigator Carolinian Chief, then there is my Grandma a real natural healer who heal a lot of families in taking in orphans as her own like Mother Teresa, my Grandma raised me as a premature 50-50 to live or die, my own Mother seek my Grandma help to make live today to tell my deadly culture & custom life story, then there's my Dad, a master Navigator healer himself so? Do you really think I can overcome their high standard they set in my beliefs natives spirits. Please make me understand.? Please.

Love hearing these messages. As somebody who has only been sober 100 days I'm stuck in my head a lot overthinking every social situation I have right now
Thank you for helping me to understand myself better and also for making so many important concepts easy to understand with the use of examples or anecdotes from your own personal experience.🤗🙏
love this channel ! love how u bullet point and structure it every time that takes work but it helps your watchers so much ! i wish i could get a print out of them all instead of taking notes lol
I agree. Her structured (particularly well structured at that) presentation style is very commendable as it must take quite a lot of time and effort, and it is VERY helpful. Makes a marked difference. Yet another great aspect about Dr Snipes and her presentations 😊. I feel so lucky to have found her.
Thank you so much for making these educational videos. I am a borderline and I've found the best treatment for a borderline is cognitive behavioral therapy. But it's almost impossible to find a cognitive behavioral therapist. So these videos help in the best way while I continue to search and find a therapist near me
In my opinion, the clinicians who overprescribed medicine to treat people like human Guinea Pigs is kinda strange. Although, for me dealing with my father’s narcissistic toxic behavior via phone calls lead me to do a family cut off. Mentally emotionally abusive family members are not going to keep me in the scapegoat role for eternity or for their amusement.
Thanks for the presentation. What is your recommendation for recharging the energy when you feel emotionally drained from work and family commitments??
I can't thank you enough for these videos, Doc Snipes. I know they are intended for professionals. However, as a messed up individual who hasn't always had access to professional therapy, they have been a LIFELINE. Understanding what's going on in my head gives me the ability to stop my maladaptive behaviors (at least usually) before I make bad situations even worse. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for making this vital information available to folks like me!

Also I always over explain in text bc I stress I'm not accurately saying what I need to say and have been accused of being "guilty of hiding something " or "manipulative " and I can say this constant picking apart has me just beside myself in shambles. I try so hard doc. Every single day. And it's never enough. I'm always at fault always to blame and always the bad guy. No matter what the situation is.
It's true what you say about getting started,, when I've been cleaning my home, it really wasn't so bad, whereas carrying that weight of outstanding housework. It's rarely as bad as I believed.. still got 10 rooms to do though. Haha. Have a great day.
Do your certification help students achieve their BS in Psychology or MS in Psychology and what is the area of concentration in Psychology? Or are these studies self betterment classes only. Please comment can these courses meet the requirement for university requirements? if so how which Universities on line accept your program? Thank I am planning to complete my BS degree in Psychology? Thanks
This is the second video of hers that I have liked and saved. Very concise and easy for me to digest. Especially as a chronic overthinker. I've subscribed. Thank you!
I’ve been listening to a lot of meditations that help me when I’m over thinking refocus my thoughts and other than that really helps me get into action set timer sleep to help me clean or get ready for work because sometimes I’ll just sit and Daydream.
Thank you Dr. Snipes. You have been extremely helpful. My monkey mind at times runs a thousand miles a minute. In my thoughts, I'm constantly second guessing my actions was what I did right or wrong. I feel that most of the time my actions are wrong but this is a cognitive distortion. Excellent see suggestions to see stop and check the facts, breathing before acting, and set plans before acting. Mindfulness skills and distress tolerance skills are excellent skills to help me stay in the moment and to be aware of how I am feeling and what I am thinking in the moment and to improve the moment. Thank you once again Dr. Snipes for your help.
What advice would you give to people like me who just cant seem to take that first step in regards to learning to accept uncertainty, getting out of your comfort zone, engaging instead of avoiding? It seems that there are iron gates in my mind. I get so excited and motivated to work on these things and do them because I know they will help, but I can never seem to make that first step. Just to frightened.
Taking the first step towards accepting uncertainty, getting out of your comfort zone, and engaging instead of avoiding can indeed feel daunting, especially when fear seems to create mental barriers. Here are some strategies to help you overcome these challenges: 1. Acknowledge and Accept Your Fear Recognize that fear is a natural response to stepping into the unknown. Instead of fighting it, try to accept it as part of the process. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) emphasizes the importance of accepting your reactions and being present. 2. Start Small and Gradual Begin with small, manageable steps. For example, if engaging in social activities feels overwhelming, start by participating in a small group or even just saying hello to someone new. Gradual exposure helps build confidence and reduces anxiety over time. 3. Use Fact-Based Reasoning Challenge catastrophic thoughts by focusing on facts rather than emotions. Ask yourself, "What are the actual facts in this situation?" This helps to ground your fears in reality and reduces the tendency to overestimate risks. 4. Develop a Resilient Support Circle Surround yourself with supportive people who can provide encouragement and wisdom. Having a resilient circle can cushion you during periods of uncertainty and provide a sense of safety. 5. Practice Mindfulness and Relaxation Techniques Engage in mindfulness practices such as deep breathing, guided imagery, or meditation. These techniques help calm the mind and reduce the physiological symptoms of anxiety, making it easier to face your fears. 6. Visualize Success Envision yourself successfully taking the first step and achieving your goals. Visualization can help reduce fear by mentally preparing you for the experience. 7. Reflect on Past Successes Think about times when you successfully handled uncertainty or stepped out of your comfort zone. Reflecting on past successes can boost your confidence and remind you of your capability to manage new challenges. 8. Embrace Tragic Optimism Adopt a mindset of tragic optimism, which involves finding meaning and growth in difficult situations. This perspective helps you to see challenges as opportunities for personal development. 9. Set Clear, Value-Driven Goals Identify your core values and set goals that align with them. When your actions are guided by your values, it becomes easier to take steps towards them, even in the face of fear. 10. Reward Yourself Celebrate small victories along the way. Positive reinforcement can help create new, positive associations with stepping out of your comfort zone. By implementing these strategies, you can gradually build the courage to take that first step and continue progressing towards a life that embraces uncertainty and growth. Remember, it's okay to take things one step at a time and seek support when needed.
And other limits When you work with all MEN boys clubs - Or your a female boss Who has condescending rebellious workers Jumps on defense when you explain mistakes? How u deal with these persons? And in their mind they work so hard ? 4 outta 8 hrs I’m ready too find new job - So tired of babysitting employee - a ?
What about overthinking Major purchases? Especially economy way is? Worse case major purchase If goes south Can grab 401k - Not much in there. How about the employee - Do you Fire them or not?
I like this format better than the one with the red background. It’s nice to see you closer up, but it is easier for me to focus on these slides on the white background and questions at the end. I’m sure there are many constraints on your time and covering the questions while running the presentation simultaneously is perhaps quicker - I miss bits while I’m writing a question though. Perhaps I can find out how to access the community tab. Not sure how to do that, if anyone can point me in the right direction, I’d be grateful.
So true, very intuitive. I hate uncertainty as well. Psych grad works out for me online. I considered this concerning my new job recently. it's not forever will be going into psychology after the master's and Doc are completed.
