Dude, its none of your business what people do with their guitars. I re-decaled a fender guitar to say "dick" in a fender font. Did i disrespect fender fans? Maybe, but do i care? No. Its my guitar and I'll do whatever. If someone tries to pass off a squier as a fender, then screw em. But most people who print fender on their squiers just do it because squiers are stereotyped as shit guitars, even though some squier series like VM, CV, and contemp are really good. Let people to their own devices and mind your own business, i dont get why you're so mad about this. I broke the neck of my tele and bought a custom neck with no decal on it. Didnt hesitate to put a fender decal on it. Sure its a fender guitar with a non fender neck, but who gives a shit? The new neck was arguably better than the fender neck, and even if not, its MY guitar and ill sharpen it and use it as a battle axe if i want to. You just have to know how to differentiate between squiers and fenders when buying used guitars. I personally report fake fenders being sold on ebay when i see them. But most people dont do it for a profit, they do it because they like having a fender logo on their guitar. Lets be real, a lot of people buy fenders over squiers just because of the headstock logo. I own a classic vibe squier and a fender MIM counterpart, and i can confidently say that the squier is a better guitar. If decals weren't a thing, some squiers would easily outrank fenders.

I know right?, this guys forgetting about chibsons you'd see on dhgate online. I have a vintage squier bullet strat neck with a rosewood fretboard on my made in mexico strat, i love partscasters sometimes squier necks end up on them but who cares cuz they get modified. I only want to wipe the logo off because its not a bullet strat lmao. I want my strat to be like a Frankenstein partscaster with different mods to the body n pickups etc.
@Alan-su5bg

Its funny how this old sap is just using the word counterfeit on squier logos being replaced as if these are vintage fenders😂 i literally bought a 90s Mexican strat couple months ago. The owner told me that it was modified n i noticed the tuners and the necks serial number was wiped out, did i care? Not really but i thought it was super cool that it came with a toggle switch and the original tremolo bridge. Now i agree squiers are good, i had a classic vibe 60s telecaster and it was just my only axe i could afford the time, later on i upgraded it by adding a strat pickup and humhucker like a Nashville deluxe tele. I feel like this squier karen should realize getting rid of squier logos arent intended just to be shitted on but they can be turned into partscasters which are really cool fenders you dont see around that much unless you spot someone with a odd looking fender guitar

LoL, dude... Where to even start... Let's just start here; YOU ARE THE PROBLEM... Just because YOU don't care about a VERY REAL PROBLEM (that YOU admitted WAS legitimate) doesn't mean it doesn't MATTER... It simply means that it doesn't matter to YOU, LoL... I've very CLEARLY explained my position, and WHY this is IMPORTANT, and furthermore WHY it's wrong... You may not AGREE, but right is right and wrong is wrong, and telling me to "chill out" and just NOT CARE, like YOU, doesn't SOLVE the issue... People like you perpetrating this crap, and people not caring like you is a HUGE part of the problem... Again, you can TRY to justify it HOWEVER you like, but it's NOT right, and you either KNOW that, or THAT'S part of the problem...

It's all good, we'll get ya straightened out, hoss; A "Karen" calls the cops when their favorite restaurant runs out of sweet tea, but if you're calling the police because the restaurant got ROBBED, that's probably NOT gonna be "a Karen"... The issue here are these scummy, dishonest people that do this crap, and everybody that puts up with it and allows it to happen. So, literally BY your response, you've already told us what side ol' Robin's on, LoL... You SHOULD have an issue with SOME THINGS, man, unless you'll just put up with ANYTHING, LoL... But yeah, quick recap just so ya remember and we don't have to tell ya again; Someone WITHOUT a LEGITIMATE complaint is referred to as a "Karen", but someone WITH a legitimate complaint is just complainin... And sorry, your argument is a stretch … that I need to worry about what people might do with my guitar after I die? Gtfoh! I’m a living room player. No one sees my guitars, so who cares what I put on my Squier’s headstock? You’re not counterfeiting unless you sell it.

I'm known as "The Budget King" for a reason, and ALL that I care about is that the guitar sounds good, plays well, and ISN'T expensive... To me, it's just CRAZY as hell to spend $600 on a BOTTOM RUNG, M.I.M. Fender that 100% ISN'T gonna be NEARLY as good as a $350 TOP SHELF, Classic Vibe Squier.

@kevinnasky771; So, in other words, YOU'RE one of these guys who does this shady crap, LoL... You OBVIOUSLY didn't LISTEN to a WORD I said, because I answered ALL of your "questions" in this video... While it IS true that what YOU do with YOUR guitars IS none of MY business, it's ALSO "none of MY business" if you want to go out and rape and kill people, but THAT DOESN'T MAKE IT RIGHT... You're obviously a selfish person who's not thinkin of ANYONE but yourself, so I'll actually answer your question; "Who are you "misrepresenting" it to?"; First off, it's not "misrepresenting" in quotations, when you REMOVE the headstock decal of the ACTUAL brand name of the company that MADE that instrument and replace it with ANOTHER brand name that DIDN'T make it, that's the DEFINITION of "misrepresenting", (also COUNTERFEITING) and as for "Who?"; EVERY SINGLE PERSON that SEES you playing that instrument. You're visually MISLEADING EVERY OTHER PERSON on the planet besides YOURSELF, LoL, but you didn't even THINK of that, LoL... And as for my comment being a "stretch", that's your incorrect opinion, and you CAN think that, BUT, stop and think; Do MOST guitarists KEEP every single guitar that they've EVER bought? Is it THAT much of a "stretch", or is it more like I'm ACTUALLY RIGHT and you just don't want to ADMIT it, LoL? I know it MUST be SUPER HARD to admit or think about to a selfish person, but WE ALL ARE eventually gonna die, and OTHER people generally get the things we once owned. Google "Inherit" or "inheritance", believe it or not, it IS a "thing" and it AIN'T a "stretch", Stretch, LoL... And as for your "it isn't counterfeiting as long as you don't sell it" comment; So, if I print up a bunch of 20 dollar bills, that WOULDN'T be counterfeiting UNTIL I tried to pass 'em off to OTHER people, right? See the problem there, hoss... LoL, hell naw, ya DON'T, and that's the damned problem... YOU don't see it as "wrong" cause YOU'RE THE ONE DOIN IT, LoL, go figure! Like I said, I'm NEVER gonna change you COUNTERFEITERS minds... I WISH I COULD, but like you said, I CAN'T FORCE people to do the right thing... Also, if you've replaced the neck, you've probably replaced the shit for electronics that Squiers come with. Squiers are good modding platforms, not good instruments out of the box (unless it's some japanese Squier from the 80s). I'm sorry brother but making this video doesn't put you on the moral high ground of guitarists. This is just a thinly veiled display of grandstanding. Putting decals on a guitar someone owns, or building a partscaster doesn't make them an immoral guitarist, and ranting about the people that do it doesn't make you a moral guitarist.

@@DigitalDZ7 Well, I don't know what ya mean by "grandstanding", lol, but you're right; "Ranting" about people who do this SCUMMY, immoral crap doesn't make you a "moral guitarist"... HAVING MORALS, sticking to them, calling out IMMORAL behavior, and NOT putting FAKE, counterfeit "Fender" decals on non-Fender guitars is what makes me a moral guitarist, lol... I didn't make this video to "put me on the moral high ground of guitarists", I made this video because I DO have morals, I DO know the difference in right and wrong, and I'm sick of this SCUMMY, dishonest, immoral behavior, so I felt convicted to do ANYTHING I possibly could to STOP IT... However, ANYBODY that sees this video, and stops to honestly even CONSIDER what I'm saying for a second, can NO LONGER claim "ignorance"... Also, if you want OTHER people to STAND UP and do the right thing, YOU have to be willing to stand up YOURSELF... THAT'S what this video is about, not "grandstanding" or "putting myself on the moral high ground of guitarists", and you can trust me, because I MADE the video, and I'm well aware WHY I made it, lol... And again, you ARE right that building a partscaster DOESN'T make you an immoral guitarist; But... Putting a FAKE, counterfeit "Fender" decal on the headstock of that guitar that WASN'T MADE by Fender, does, lol... See how that works, right? It's VERY telling that some people just CAN'T understand the VERY SIMPLE concept of; Be honest... DON'T put a decal of a company that DIDN'T MAKE THAT GUITAR on that guitar's headstock... THAT'S what ALL of this boils down to simply- And anybody that can't "understand" that SIMPLE idea, well, maybe it's not REALLY because they don't UNDERSTAND it, maybe they just don't want to admit that what they're doing is WRONG...

I always played a '69 Fender Telecaster Bass, or a '60s or '70s Precision Bass around it. After 40 years of experiments' it looks, unintentionally I might add, like an early '60s Jazz Bass that no one could possibly afford. Everyone knows what this bass is, and I would never tell anyone different. I have a hard time believing someone can't tell the difference between a Squier or a Fender. A quick trip to your local guitar store should tell you in a side by side comparison. Also, does no one check the but end of the neck, or any of the body cavities or any kind of factory stamp? They don't even share the same paint codes, as far as I know. I have no trouble telling the difference between a Squier and a Fender, and I'm just some guy. Another comment. Re decaling is fraud. An attempt to get someone to spend money for a different reason. Putting a Rolls Royce hood decal on a VW is the comparison. I have a Squire Strat, an Epie LP, and a Gibson by Baldwin SG and they all sound great because of the player. I am not concerned about resale. A person buying a Fender has the expectation that the "name" has value and will have good resale. If someone sees through a bad re branding, the seller has fraudulently lost money.

Spend your money however you want. Personally, I can afford a thousand dollar guitar. Hell, even a two thousand martin. But I also am not that good of a guitarist. I rather spend money on lessons than brand names on a guitar. As for counterfeiting, the few individuals changing decals is NOTHING compared to the entire countries making fake guitars by the hundreds a day. Let them folks have some semblance of pride. Real musicians do not care about the look, they focus on the sound anyways.

@ck2music712 With the quality of Fender's production for the last half century, you end up putting far more work into finding a good guitar than they put into manufacturer it. Once you have decided which model you want it takes 30-40 hours of work to drive around, in some cases through multiple states, playing the same model, hoping to find the 1 in 500 that is a good specimen. Not all of us can afford to buy the Masterbuilts that are made with a half decent amount of craftsmanship. That's what I did for my workhorse telecaster, and I didn't sand down the headstock because I'm a vain loser, and I'm aware that a lot of people think Fenders are "cool". Leaving the Fender logo on that guitar is somewhat dishonest. After working at a music store for many years and selling hundreds of Affinity Squier Chinese j-bases, a specimen came in one day that was just something to behold... something I've never seen since. Of course I had to buy it. I put Fender Custom Shop vintage 60s J-bass pickups in it, and I play it all the time. But I would feel very guilty misleading people to think that this was the quality of the average Squier Affinity Bass. It's probably one in 10,000, and it has some of the best pickup in it that Fender has manufactured in decades. So, yes, I sanded down the headstock, and no, I did not put a fender decal on it because that is dishonest. But I think it would be equally dishonest to leave The Squire logo on it and not explain to people how I came to choose it as an instrument. Honesty can be complicated when you are talking about logos on manufacturered goods. What about Roland guitars made by Ibanez?

That way, people who have plenty of money, or who want to buy american made for other reasons, have the proof. The name 'Squier' on the guitar might as well say 'Cheap', so the message you're projecting is either you're poor, or you're cheap; and along with that come expectations of a poor quality guitar. Then they cover the decal with polyurethane, or nitrocellulose, or TruOil, or whatever finish they're using. Then you have to come back and sand that down smooth, and you keep applying layers, until the decal "floats"... I would never want to buy a guitar, pay fender price.. and receive squire product. Like Gibson and Epiphone... but.... what exactly is the difference? Wood quality? Hardware differences? Electronics? or... cheaper labor. perhaps lower quality control. Once you get it and set it up... isn't it damn near close to a fender anyway? All I am trying to say is... Fender and squire are really not all that far apart. Same shapes. Whereas Gibson and Epi... well there are clear hardware differences. To me, a squire will always be a Fender. I totally agree with some of your speach and hate people selling counterfeit guitars, but when a guitarist owning several strats among them fenders and squiers likes to play a squier but can't stand the logo on the neck why would you want to prevent him from replacing it for a fender ?! Also I have one original strat made in Japan that bears an original fender stratocaster spaghetti logo and a tiny "squier series" logo instead of the "contour body" logo... ! I think that it was a stupid idea to replace the fender logo by squier, many people who want to buyer squiers don't do it only because of the logo and prefer to buy other cheap guitars not as good. There is no reason why the fender logo should be reserved to Mexico and USA guitars. I have several strats, one of my favourite was made in Fullerton and the other one in China. I also own a very special one, with seven strings made in Indonesia, with incredibly powerful pickups, SSH. The important for me is to keep the country in which it's made, most of the time written on the back of neck of squiers. I like to know that this strat is made in china and this one in corona etc.

You wouldn't buy a Toyota and put a Honda decal on it, right? And as far as I'm concerned, the people who ARE too snooty to try a Squier, OR the ones that won't ADMIT they like a Squier, they can spend the extra $500 and get the "right" decal from Fender, LoL...

There IS, The "SQUIER SERIES" guitars that FENDER released. They weren't made for long, but those are literally the ONLY "Fender Squiers" that were ever made. The Squier brand however, is a completely different company...

@@ck2music712 That's not my point. I know a lot about Fender I have many books on the brand, especially about the Stratocaster ! I'm just saying that if someone has bought a Squier, that he likes very much his guitar and if the only thing that bothers him is the Squier brand logo why would you want to prevent him from replacing it by a Fender if it makes him happy ??! Would you prefer him to throw his very good guitar to the bin or sell it ? I'm a Stratocaster fan and have several of them, some made in USA some in Asia. It happens that two of my favourite are made In China and Indonesia, they are very well made, especially the one made in China. I am a perfectionnist so I know what I'm talking about. Even when they are made in huge plants there are not two guitars the same, if you have one that you like keep it, and if the Squier logo prevents you from sleeping well at night replace it by a Fender and sleep well !

I have Fenders and Squiers. I have a Squier by Fender tattoo. I am building a parts caster that has a neck which is mahogany shaft wood and maple fret board. I spent over $300 on the Fender pickups. Got a Fender super swutch and Fender S1 switch. I am putting a Fender decal on it. Will never part with it. Its not wrong for me to do it. Most people will never see the guitar so if it makes U cry bcuz I built my dream guitar around the Fender Pickups and want a Fender decal on it. Well go a head I will have fun playong my guitar into boss fdr 1 or boss fbm 1 pedal into my fender bassbreaker 15 amp or Fender pro junior 4 right before I jam on 2 of my favorite guitars which are Squiers.

It doesn't "make me cry", but if you build a guitar from parts and then slap a COUNTERFEIT "Fender" decal on the headstock, and you NEED someone to explain to you WHY that isn't right, or honest, YOU are EXACTLY who this video is aimed at...

@@ck2music712 you obviously dont know what counterfeit is. A counterfeit is something made to imitate something valuable with purpose of decieving someone, typically intended for selling or counterfeit money intended for purchasing things. I have a '93 American Fender and have been weighing getting a replacement neck vs. a refret. If I go with a replacement neck, then this very issue comes into play in the case of a non-Fender neck.
@ck2music712
@ck2music712 11 месяцев назад
I don't understand... If you have an American FENDER, and you replace the neck on it with another FENDER neck, then obviously it's gonna have a Fender decal... Same thing with Warmoth and a couple of the other higher end replacement necks; They have licensing rights from Fender to use that decal, so STILL "no harm, no foul"... BUT, if you use a cheaper, NON-LICENSED neck, I WOULDN'T just stick a "Fender" decal on it, just because the REST of the guitar was made by Fender, LoL... Obviously this video wasn't made with folks like you in mind, hoss- It's aimed DIRECTLY at those guys who sand off their Squier decal and slap a FAKE "Fender" decal on the headstock... So, if you wanna keep the "Fender" decal, just buy a FENDER neck, and nobody could say a word to ya...

A Squire is still a Fender toyota just a more affordable cheaper fender so people can buy like chevy and ford make other makes of cars that people can afford but they are still a chevy ford mercury Cadillac the same is with guitars and alot of name brand products. Because it says Squire by Fender matter where it's made not just Mexico and United States. So mine I'm supposed to get rid of it because it was made in Indonesia it's still Squire by Fender they get inspected by the same inspectors to Fender specifications no matter where they are made. People are just hooked on the name brand products and made in America and Mexico same thing with guns and a loaf of bread made by ButterCrust with a different name 😂

So while i agree, before you buy off the streets fender always run the serial numbers folks, and make sure they are the same numbers as the body. Pop off the neck because you cn buy a fender neck online. Still a squire body, i put a fender neck on a squire because i am a musician and its embarrassing to have a squire but i enjoy the sound of my telecaster. However i would NEVER sell that to somebody as a fender, fender is US or MEX made squire is mass produced
@ck2music712

Just the fact that you call yourself a musician and in the same sentence you admit that you think playing a Squier is "embarrassing" tells everyone ALL they need to know, man... People who are COMFORTABLE and CONFIDENT in their MUSICAL ability usually aren't "embarrassed" by WHAT BRAND their instrument is, LoL... I guess if what OTHER PEOPLE THINK is THAT important to you, maybe you SHOULD buy the "right" brand of guitar that wouldn't be so embarrassing for you... But EITHER way, putting FAKE "Fender" decals on a NON Fender guitar isn't right... But people being EMBARRASSED by their guitar's BRAND is what started all this mess...
