Stop Putting TTV in Your Name 

Getting banned instantly for "streamsniping" on a twitch channel is a scenario I had a few times (2-3 times). One time it was really silly: One of the survivors I played against had TTV in their name and I checked if they were live. I got exited to see the VOD afterwards, closed the tab and got a pretty even game (9 Hooks and two kills - TTV - the only one live - lived btw). After the match I joined the chat and wrote "ggs" and said that I was their killer. I got a response with something like this wording: "Oh, I know that you're our killer. My Mod confirmed that you were in the viewer list all along trying to snipe". I got some insults from the viewers (only a few) and the mates and got told that I never could've find the streamer without sniping. I watched the VOD. - not 'cause I was interested in seeing their POV anymore but I wanted to know what this "I never could've find the streamer w/o sniping"-comment was based on. In this match I walked three times past this person without acknowledging that they were there. Almost every single time they were hiding I haven't found them and if I did it mostly was due to my perks. They laughed, trash talked a bit - as you do if you're playing with friends - But after one of them died and said that I was on the viewer list the mood shifted. They started to call every single prediction etc. "sniping". I wrote in the chat that I watched the match back but nothing seemed unusual, I pointed out how often I walked past them and how the stream delay would prevent such accurate sniping regardless. I got told that I shouldn't debate them on their channel and got banned. Two of the other viewers who tried to defend me were time outed. If I were camping/tunneling or if they'd "lost" the match I could've said that they were only frustrated. But this match was so even and so "non toxic". :D

I really love supporting streamers. So I get so sad when I go to say hi to the ttv in my lobby and they aren’t live😭

I’ll never forget finding the last survivor, a TTV, in basement thanks to Darkness Revealed. Trying to explain that I wasn’t streamsniping was literally impossible. They didn’t want it to be true.

My favourite is when a TTV says something incredibly unhinged and mean. My go to respond is "Okay, wholesome TTV, who wishes to grow." On the flipside, There are really wholesome small streamers out there, which are fun to interact with.

My favorite is getting accused of streaming snipping while I am live like "WHAT!?!" Mfer I have too many things I have to keep track of while live, your stream is not even on the radar!

I never put TTV in my name. It is truly pointless. Love it when the killer pops in to say hi and talk about the match. Cause folks check your name whether or not you put TTV in it. Nice video bro.

omg I was in that skull merchant's stream. he was so excited to meet you and I'm glad I got to discover you through him. it was such a wholesome moment after the match and he even uploaded the video to their yt channel

As a long time console player sometimes twitch chat was the only way i could say GG after a match. The most bewildering interaction i had was picking up my phone and checking the chat to discover i had been pre-banned before even saying anything cuz they found my username in the list of viewers.

For me, no matter what side i'm on, Killer or Survivor if the streamer is live i only interact with them after the match, mainly because it avoids the accusations being thrown around, and if i was a killer i would always watch the streamer perspective of the match so i could learn from my mistakes, and if they were chill and wholesome i would always give a follow, no matter how big or small they are. If you have ttv in your name i always assumed they would be live... not always. sad.

I love going to ttv's channel to see their reaction to my killer gameplay. But like 80% of the ttv players arent live or they dont enable vods so you cant watch what just happened 20 minutes ago

the pain of being called a streamsniper on my shitass pc is that they assume i can run firefox and dbd simultaneoulsy without my gpu turning off and my entire windows crashing just to annoy them

I was playing as the huntress against a TTV. I was super confused as to why they were killing themselves on first hook. Looked up their account after the match. Turns out I was "stream-sniping." | was reported, accused of hacking for MISSING a hatchet throw, and called slurs. I hate streamers like this.

having ttv in my name 4 years ago led me to meeting one of my closest friends i have now in a random game, even met him irl last year. streaming has always been a fun side thing to do even if you do gotta deal with toxicity from time to time, pros outweigh the cons :)

When I used to stream I had a few people who actually sniped - how I knew was I would ask questions or say “nod your head if” and I never took it seriously. Hell, I had an entire convo with a facecamping Bubba once lol people take things too much to heart I swear

I know a certain someone who has started literally FIVE new twitch channels to "get away from the drama" but literally every time all he does is whine "oh of course they're stream sniping, there's no way he knew I was there" every. single. game. Like the TTV in the name is a get outta jail free card

I've met alot of great ttvs by playing game, some of them becoming great friends instantly but it sucks that so many killers have to go on the defense because of toxicity frm the bad apples

I've been accused for stream sniping when in reality I found them across the map hiding in a locker thanks to legion's killer instinct, yes they put TTV in their name. I was on console at the time as well and while I did have their stream on, I threw the phone behind me onto a bed, put on a max volume headset and stood up and played.

i think the closest thing i’ve had to “stream sniping” accusations was when i thought a survivor MIGHT be hacking because he was moving a little fast and i couldn’t tell if i was going crazy or not. but it didn’t ruin my stream, i don’t think people watch for gameplay. so imma yap into the void and hope that void yaps back. when someone from my match does come in and yap at me, it’s very nice.

when i first started playing, i loved joining ttv's streams and vibing while we were survivors, i got ripped into for the crime of saving someone on a hook :c

Just yesterday I loaded in as survivor and saw a TTV whose name looked familiar. Turns out the reason I recognized them is because they had previously banned me for accused stream sniping. They always have the worst attitudes toward the game, they always say "there's no way you coud've known exactly where I was", and they always have an annoying ass friend or friends on stream with them to back up every single thing they say. Bestie, there are 1001 reasons I could have found you, including sheer dumb luck or that you just didn't play that well.

As a killer main, I like to join into twitch streams when I see a TTV who is streaming and listen in on them to see if they smack talk me (if they dont I drop a follow and watch after for a while). There was this one guy who's stream I joined in on and I didnt say anything when I joined his stream and just had the stream on in the background. Multiple times him and his team mates would unhook right as I walked away from the hook and it would result in me doubling back the short distance I walked and downing the unhooker (I dont like tunneling). After the match he accused me of stream sniping because I guess he didnt know about the killer getting a loud noise notification when survivors get unhooked??? and then he banned me. :/

So many survivors don't know how Friend's Til the End works and will accuse you of stream sniping or even hacking.

i one time decided to watch stream of my teammate. she started asulting me with her friend, trashtalking etc because my game was kinda laggy and that was HUGE problem for them ofc. in a nutshell; horrible moment. the most funny fact is she had tags like 'lgbtqia friendly' and 'safespace' and everything that means you are openminded cool person. idk why i decided to follow her anyway and watch some more, in next match again situation happend, she was shitting on everyone again and other stuff so i asked 'why you have safe space tag if you act like that to your teammates?' she just started arguing with me, more like 'defending' herself and blocked me after that.

I remember seeing a ttv once and chose to change my build for them. Gave them jumpscare meyers and we all had a blast

dunno whats worse, when the ttv is not streaming (and haven't steamed in a while) or when the person was streaming but for some reason you can't watch the vod. Ngl, I do target a little the ttvs when they are streaming, but not by tunneling, quite the other way around, I always try to save them for last, so there is more content that I can watch later when I watch the streamer vod.

That's why I have YT in my username. But on a serious note, I like to go back on VODs when I play against a TTV to analyse the match I had to see the mistakes I made (especially if I lost). And it's always heartbreaking when they're not live and have TTV in their username.

as a ttv who is never live i got someone tell me i clickbaited them because they thought i was a big time streamer not someone who caps out at 10 viewers... Cant lie this was 2 years ago and im still hurt from those words

as a content creator you should expect potential viewers to join your stream by putting TTV in your name when you throw it in without being live the expectation of seeing that person and their personality is thrown out the window. I believe it puts distain on those who are actually live who put TTV in their name. Lowering the expectations of potential viewers for everybody is harmful just because someone wants to advertise without legitimately putting the work in.

I love it when people stream snipe me because I always try to make deals with the killers before the match starts like "please let me do 3 gens for a tome and I'll let you kill me" and I always follow through or just welcome a challenge in general. I also just never care if people get mad at me like sure i will explain why i made a certain play if asked but overall im just playing to have fun and be chaotic and derpy doing stupid challenges i never understood why people get so upset over this game

Food's right. I get so many TTV's in matches who aren't even live, I barely check anymore. Which is a shame, cause I like to play jumpscare builds. I WANT to see the TTV's reactions to me rounding a corner, or suddenly appearing in their line of sight when they pan the camera over.

I only call people stream snipers if I knew they are stream sniping. I don’t think it’s a constant thing, but when you know, you definitely know. But it’s still a part of the game you play when you put ttv in your name.

Honestly, sometimes I get in bouts where I try to only play against TTVs. As a player for 3 years with 3000 hours on Xbox playing killer, and never having any feedback on my gameplay because I don’t have any friends who play DBD, hearing what the streamer thinks of me playing really helps me understand how people perceive me and allows me to work on things I couldn’t before. Also: if u haven’t streamed in like 6+ months and still have it in your name, yes, please take it off. For me to remember next time: watch the fucking video first before commenting lmao

Tbf i used to take TTV out of my name when not live but since ive kept it in permanently, ive still managed to gain followers whilst not live which is surprising, and surprisingly some people do come in when i am live to talk about the game that happened off air which im happy with Another person once came in and straight up said "im sniping btw" and i just shruged it off, and even the 1 time i know for a fact the killer was watching, it was probably one of the most entertaining games ive ever played

Used to stream a bit a few years back. Always boggled me when people complained about stream sniping. For me I couldn't care less.. Brought more views to my channel. Even people who just came by to try to trash talk my skill or lack there of at the time.. I usually just thanked them for the views and then didn't respond any more to them.

I've got to admit, I'm getting ready to start streaming, and this is a thing I'm not sure if I should or shouldn't do. I don't think I'd ever act like that - one streamer I follow is regularly accusing killers of sniping, and it's just really sad. I like going to a stream for good vibes, and when the vibes stop being good... like. Why would I go there? I dunno.

I feel like one thing the very few streamers like this don't realize is just how loud certain survivor actions are and just how closely any decent killer is listening to the sounds. Yess, I can hear you running upstairs even though I'm chasing someone outside. More over, situational awareness is a thing. I'm capable of inferring that you are in a locker or behind a rock even if I didn't see you hide.

PC players shouldn't get away with shaders, hacking, skill check scripts, and all the other BS you get to do.

I love going up against streamers when I play Ghostie because a majority of the time when I decide to give everyone the win, it’s funny seeing me teabag with them and being called a bean xD

I usually watched the stream afterwards and half the time the survivor entitlement is hilarious. especially calling every killer a stream sniper.

I understand the sadness behind checking a ttv only to find them offline, but my god we cant be online everytime we game. Some of us like to take breaks from trying to entertain other people. I do agree with the drop your ttv name if you dont stream anymore or havent in over a year. Either commit or drop the title.

the most frustrating thing for me is when i come back some hours later after the stream is finished to watch how i went on the ttv match, and the stream is gone, it's not on their page anymore... I wish twitch just let us rewind the stream while it's on live 😔

I went against a streamer once, came in chat after the match to say ggs, and they thought i was sniping and/or cheating because I found them in a locker and "hit them two times instantly" ... i was Freddy with Enduring, Save the best, Fire Up, and Bam with the Cat block addon. cmon now

As a console player I'm genuinely surprised how I haven't been accused of stream sniping yet with almost every TTV I come across they are typically really nice and I always drop them a follow and something that happened pretty recently I got complemented by a streamer for terrifying her with my Billy curving skills on Xbox (I'm not even that good she just said Xbox controllers feel really weird to her so in her eyes it was impressive)

I stopped bothering to look up TTVs because they either aren't live or accuse you of stream sniping even if you joined AFTER the match

I’m not sure, I must be really unlucky, cause I feel like most of the streamers I actually find live are super toxic and think the world is against them. It’s too bad, it’s like I run into the people who have either given up on expecting good interactions, or the ones that have leaned fully into being toxic with a hateful community.

I used to give ttv my view and ad revenue by having phone behind me muted and told ttv such but still get accused so I don't do it anymore, the other day I got a ttv that had distortion and didn't tell her other ttv friend she's losing stacks and they both called me a cheater (dredge with head phones add on) also called me a liar and "I know dredge doesn't have that add on"

i put ttv in my name and it has without a doubt helped me grow and reach affiliate. i also know there are plenty of people in the world who are not going to search random usernames on twitch without seeing ttv because i’m one of them lol however i do realize i’m much more susceptible to being sniped which is why i don’t care if they are or aren’t sniping. i just take the L and say gg next. it’s worth it for the growth of my channel and i do intend on removing ttv once i build a big enough community.

I'd like the game to add a feature to notify people that you're streaming so you don't have to change your name.

This is why when I don't stream and play DBD, I put on Anonymous Mode for the sole reason because well I'm not streaming and when I do stream I turn the setting off because I would like people to join the stream if somebody joins after a match I'm very chill and say GG and if they stay I'm cool with it too.

Small correction for switch you don't have to pay to chage you name you just go to your profile and change it. In dbd on witch your display name is your profile name and ca be whatever you ant it to be.

I stopped putting TTV in my name like 4-5 years ago because I was never live. I do play wit ha TTV in DBD on STeam but he actually goes live constantly, so credit to him. And we became dbd friends via his ttv

I have TTV in my name. I'm a small streamer, and I want people to have the option to stop by and say hello after the match. I main killer, and I'm pretty much always live when I play DBD. If I removed it, people wouldn't be able to come by and see my ferrets, because they wouldn't know I was streaming. :-(

I have been considering coming back.. I had played this game since beta in 2015 up till a short period of time after Unknown came out... I quit not because of the game itself but because I just got tired of how toxic the community is. I will probably come back at some point but just.. Not quite yet. Though I admit if they ever do a "The Thing" or "Phantasm" chapter I will prob be back instantly just for either DLC.

Something to go with your fist reason is when you see a survivor that has not live or live in their name. They are angels in the dark twisted world of false live ttvs

I check ttvs all the time and they are 90 percent of the time not live. If they are or I play well or have game sense they get all defensive thinking I was stream sniping. I then go into the vod and boom

I keep TTV in my name and the sheer amount of people who're surprised when I say "I don't care if I'm stream sniped or not, I'm literally putting a target on my back willingly if someone is looking to do so." If you put a cheat sheet on a kids desk they're likely going to cheat. Simple human nature but guess what? 99% of the time... You're not being stream sniped and if you are it's painfully obvious.

Its funny too because xbox doesn't let you put TTv in your gamer tag sometimes So people have to put Tv instead

As a console streamer with TV in my name, I cannot change it because it would cost $10 every time. So either always have tv in my name or spend $10 every time I play without being live. Before someone brings it up, anonymous mode does not work for some reason. It only hides my own name from me, and I know this because of other streamers. I don’t mind getting the streamer treatment constantly, it makes the game more interesting for me. And also I don’t care about stream snipers I just ask for nods if you do

I play on Xbox and haven’t streamed in ages, recently tried to change my name to remove the TTV and apparently it’s now inappropriate💀. Gotta love Microsoft

One time I was playing killer, I saw a TTV, went into chat and say glhf, played like I always play, but because I had nowhere to hide I could see where they were (through walls and whatnot) some of their squad (they were in a SWF) called me out for looking at their stream to see where they were. I can understand where they came from but I had 3 aura reading perks. They said it was a BAD thing that I said glhf beforehand and that it was “suspicious”?!! So I’m just supposed to not be polite anymore by that logic 🤷‍♂️

One time I faced a group of survivors, Two of which had TTV in their name, One was not live but the other was, It was a swf, I go in and say “Hey I’m the killer, GLHF!” I proceed to get flamed that I would dare stream snipe, I then got banned from the stream, So I went on my alt and tunneled the streamer and slugged the rest, I revealed I was on an alt after, They stopped the stream after that. Usually I don’t lounge in others pain, But just this once I did, And it was great…

Epic games makes you wait 2 weeks between name changes and I stream weekly. So I keep the ttv in there during off stream play. I would probably change it otherwise. But epic is an sucky in the name change department. Don't really know why either. I know some people don't see a difference from putting TTV in their name in game but I have gotten so many follows and views from people I have gone up against. Granted everybody has a different experience.

Honestly as someone who has ttv in their name I get so annoyed when I go to another ttvs channel and they aren't live so I always make sure when im not live to go anonymous to not waste anyones time

When killers come into my stream. I ask if they have any challenges they would want help with. When they say they are leaving I tell them to stay because I need the view time lol I feel if a killer can watch the stream work out the time delay and still kill me they are far better than me anyways and fair play to them. Most of my followers are killers they all want me dead lol Also Epic players can only change thier names once every 2 weeks so it doesn't work if they are active streamers.

I can barely keep track of the game as it is, how am I supposed to play killer and watch your stream at the same time to snipe you? Luckily, I had mostly positive interactions with other streamers, I usually check out killer ttvs after the game and they were nice.

For the longest time I was on epic, they have a 2 week name change so I did have some times when I was playing without being live with ttv in my name ;-;

I was playing as pig one time and saw a ttv and went to their channel and muted it and flipped it upside down(it was on my phone) then when I finished they accused me of cheating, by using the Iri tape, then accused me of stream sniping when I didn't turn the volume up until after the trial had ended. Then they reported me for cheating, again with an Iri tape and a crate of gears, it was just after the add-on pass, and was blocked from talking in their stream.

I thought I was the only person annoyed by people leaving TTV in their name while not live XD
