‘make it funny’ is something my science teacher used to tell us, we did a word doc to keep to study for a test coming up, and he told us to just put anything to make it funny and more interesting to us he was a great teacher
“My boy Napoleon now he was straight wylin up in the Mayan civilizations and he straight cramped they style because some dumbass couldn’t done translate right”
I have been doing this for a year now. Sometimes, my friends want my notes to study. I gave them to them, and boy, they return notes to me in tears every time :D
My history teacher pretty much has us use this way, he puts up a powerpoint and tells us to keep our notes short and sweet and put it in our own words.
I have this history teacher that literally makes us write down everything he says word-for-word. History is the only class I don’t do well in. Take from that what you will.
What about taking notes after the lecture, cuz paying attention in class is quite difficult if you’re constantly multitasking. Great advice nonetheless.
Listen to certain words which is the main idea of the message, right down the main idea then go on google and contiue searching. You could also write a title but sometimes google gives you information which you have no clue about, so might as well write the main idea.
This is a good idea if you have access to the lecture (I.e presentation or pdf) or the book! This helped me a lot for my finals, specially since we didn’t cover a lot of the material due to COVID restrictions going on and off in my school. Another way would be by taking photos of the slides or recording the class with the voice memo app (native on iOS / available on android)
Back then they allowed us once to write down notes in a contest (we were in a call and we can explore different places with information in it) so i wrote most of the info down, but some of the words are just made in my own way. After doing the notes and done at the exam, my results were 2nd place. I still have the notes thing lol
The thing is to listen to everything in class and if you’re confused ask your teacher about it. At home after you come back from school start making summaries of each things in that subject and go online and look for past year exam papers for your grade and in your country. Hope that helps
that actually makes a lot of sense, cuz im in a german school and my teacher make us write down notes with a lot of complex words that i dont understand.
I do exactly this. Half my class refers my notes for exams because I have written explanations like a romantic novel and all that jazz. Still struggling to pass
I did that with Math. I would write down the examples of the topic and then briefly explain what to do and how to do each step to get the right answer. It did me really well!
Another thing I do is Cornell notes which also helps you from writing word per word and can help if you don’t know how to start writing or paraphrasing notes in your own way.
This is what i have been doing since i entered 7th grade and it's absolutely working! I noticed that writing everything that the teacher says wastes alot of time and sometimes you just write unimportant details so i decided to change that way of taking notes by writing it in a way that i would easily understand or summarizing everything in the way that my brain comprehends.
I've actually been doing this already ever since the start of my junior high school life, or maybe even before that, has helped a lot whenever I had to study, very useful :D
