Fern, my white Boxer dog, is an accredited service dog under the 1992 DD act. She holds special access rights to be allowed to enter places most dogs cannot. This includes National Parks such as Chiltern Mt Piolet NP where Reedy Creek is located. Unless your dog is an accredited service animal they are not allowed to enter NP.
Check your local regulations, as each state and territory is different, before you travel into or though NP with your dog. Here is the Parks Victoria website for those of you wishing to read up on Victoria's laws 👉 www.parks.vic....

I suggested to someone that was finding "nothing but hot rocks here" to pick up a few and crush them. They finally did and got pans better than what you found there by about 10x. They said "see there is some gold but nothing worth the effort." I didn't argue but, I would have loaded a truck full and started a process that would end of day been pulling out 1000x what they were in the same area in sub grammer nuggets. :) Knowledge is power. One man's trash is another mans treasure.

There's an old saying that "gold rides an iron horse". It is not always found with iron but it often is. In your area, it's usually associated with tin but there's probably either iron or tin locked up in those rocks. Great video Chris.

194,000 subs! That's exciting. So many hot rocks I've brought home. I've crushed maybe 40 percent of them with varying results. Thanks for sharing. Cheers

Gold can be precipitated in the host rock on the sides of the fault especially if there are certain elements such as chlorine or sulphur and others in the country rock minerals. Greenstone can be one suitable country rock for this. Gold is not always just in the quartz veins. The chemistry can be very complicated.

I have a lot of these types of rocks. I haven't found them with a metal detector, only by the rusty colour of their exterior. I need a Stampy and dolliepot. One of those angle grinder contraptions would be awesome, though my neighbors might not think so. lol

Maybe screw a flap of thick rubber on one side of your mini-crusher inlet so you don't need to hold your hand there and risk getting a stone chip embedded in your fleshy bits. Although it does make for a good story to tell round the campfire...Should be easy to drill two holes for the screws...for the rubber an old carmat would do the job. Great tip on the hot rocks BTW...I've heard some talk of people finding small gold in some of them before, but not as much as you found.

I am from Texas and have loads of washed small rocks of quartz with orange, brown, and some grey/black colors visible. I have always wanted to crush it down and see if there is anything there. I have to make a rock crusher. I made a stamper once but the rocks are too hard for it.

A cheep shop press can put 12 tons of pressure on those rocks without much effort and a log splitting ram can do 22-27 tons. Easier than stampie jerking for 5 hours a day😎

suddenly half the outback gets packed in the back of Utes and crushed to reveal a new gold rush and the price of gold plummets....but rock crusher prices fly through the roof to counteract it....making life equal again. thats a really cool find and means that you literally could find gold anywhere in any sort of sedimentary or metamorphic rock...its already in most igneous rocks ...did I miss any types

What if a very cheap 100 dollar metal detector sounds off on a rock that is non magnetic isn't hematite or magnetite is extreamly heavy for its size has no visible metal on it. And has a rusty like crust and rusty cemented gravel on it over 1 inch thick what kind of hot rock would do that ?
