I feel like there's sometimes a thin line between smokes(/walls) that help the enemy team and smokes that are tricky and info-starve. Something else I gotta learn 😢
Bro so many players watch pro players and don't understand how meaningful each decision is and woohoojin is out here being a pal and explaining in depth what they are doing which gives the pro players decisions new meaning.
I have a diamond friend who used to main Viper and he always flames me for defaulting my viper wall before the round starts. Kinda goes to show how much misunderstanding there is around smokes usage in this game :p
@@logosour very true. I used to main viper and solo controller with her is pretty weak on most maps and you have to play very different than if you have double controller. You essentially have to have 2 playbooks for viper if you one trick her. One for solo and one for when you have someone to play primary smoker. I only use her solo on bind and fracture now and use omen on the other maps.
Here's an excerpt from a ranked game I played yesterday regarding smokes. The enemy team were playing Brim and Omen on Bind. Twice in the half, they did an A rush, and Brim smoked to lock us back site, using two smokes, and then they would omen flash short/lamps and raze would fight off it. Well, this round, they omen flash short, Raze fights it, Omen smokes heaven, and brim uses one smoke between boxes and truck. The second I saw the brim's smokes, my com was "Don't rotate, this is a fake". Sure enough, about 10-15 seconds later, we get two kills on B. Had the Brim just smoked the same way he did on his other A hits, this would've likely been a free plant.
Watching these videos I made it out of Bronze 2 and straight to Gold after 2 weeks. I had to remind myself it wouldn't just happen instantly, or in 2 days. CONSISTENT Practice is key, I'm slowly climbing, but with clear intent. Thank you banana man

i have seen this clip a long time ago but don't know when but it is pretty old. probably a stream where woohojin also pointed out that kayo in this video is giving very good callouts and is probably high rank.
It's like watching a movie every time. Will our hero get the gift card or will they perish trying? Sometimes there are unreliable narrators, who look like good players but turn up to be not so good. Sometimes there are characters who start up weak but get a redemption ark.

I'm only a gold 3 Astra right now so I've got lots to improve on (and rapidly climbed up from silver 2 this act, having previously hit g1 very briefly), but this at least makes me feel good about my fakes. I'm usually solo controller and frequently drop a couple stars in buy round in visible spots. If we're fast rushing I'll recall just before round start so nothing is on cooldown, sometimes leave one for fakes/info denial, sometimes recalling before buy round from a site we *are* going to hit but slowly (if they've likely seen me pull stars away from sites we aren't hitting, just so they give free site. Assumes they communicate, but if they aren't communicating then winning should be easier anyway).
Very interesting actually. Being a controller and Brim main, I usually do try to copy that; burn my own smokes which are valuable since they don't regenerate, to convince the enemy that we'll be hitting that site compared to a default Viper wall, or even stars. And smoke ratting makes them either traumatized to push my smokes, or get completely gaslit into thinking it'll be a hit. 😂 I'm doing something right! (?) 😭
This feels like that initiator player, that when called to contact up, would immediately throw their recon on the site we are trying to silently get into at the start of the round. Advertising the site you want to hit so early in the round is not cool, bruh.
@woohojin not disagreeing with you, but pretty sure dopai said the opposite. Saying thsy you shouldn’t do that viper wall. My best guess is that it’s because on the vod he was reviewing, viper was the solo controller

bro im plat 1 and i always pull back stars on b long wtf I thought this was common knowledge in like diamond and above 😭 things like this where its not a specific situation that is needed means u can literally just copy pros. its just something in the beginning of the round that helps confuse the enemies. literally every single beginning round play can be stolen from pro play which is why I literally just watch vct clips everyday (no joke I watch so many vct games). the best example is the viper wall like bro is immortal or like ascendant and doesn't even know to throw the default viper wall. if ur not recallling ur stars every round, he should be telling you to do so since if you guys were running double controller such as harbour and viper, viper should be throwing orb there and putting it up since it also acts like an astra star. however, since they had astra viper astra can literally do it every round with no downside since unlike a viper orb, you don't have to be there to throw it or pick it up.
