You are the awareness to the thoughts man. You’re not the thoughts. If you are the thoughts then who’s observing them? See you are not these thoughts but just the observer who’s getting anxiety with this. If you find yourself really triggered, then pay close attention to your breathing, close your eyes or look at something like a tree or a bird flying by to ground yourself. So if you’re triggered: 1. Breathe, 2. look around and 3. observe how you feel. I hope this helps man. It’s a horrible feeling but you are watching the thoughts go by like waves that come up, peak and then curve only to crash. The thoughts come but they never last and eventually the water calms down and sits still!

the most effective way to cure ocd is to ignore it altogether. the point is don't do something because of ocd and don't leave something because of it, think of him as a crazy person talking behind your back, and be like normal people in general, and believe that ocd won't harm you. Do this continuously and be patient until you recover from it

@@SabTheBeanThat's a good advice. I don't have a diagnosis, but my therapist said maybe OCD is my problem (not a strong OCD, not critical, but I have a lot of symptoms). Ah, and my mother has OCD. This advice makes sense to me because sometimes I calm down thinking that obsessing about things won't change anything. I don't want things to change (my thoughts tell me I'm in denial, that I actually want what I'm thinking about, doubting about). However I'm not impulsive, so it's just about dealing with this...

While I never had OCD, as a kid I used to have an array of "nervous behaviors", mainly forms fidgeting (without a fidget spinner) or moving side-to-side (like shaking my head, very similar to the "head bobble" used in India to indicate "yes" or agreement). My pediatrician assured my mother they would fade with age. Unfortunately, they persisted as I grew older, so I tried to reduce their visibility. While I could mask them easily enough while standing or walking, they were most visible while sitting. First, I consciously moved them to my legs, bouncing on the ball of my foot, like the seated "knee jiggle" some folks get from too much caffeine. As I entered adulthood, the jiggle also became disruptive, so I was able to further reduce it to rubbing my right big toe against the top of my shoe, making it totally invisible. But, boy, did I tear holes in lots of socks, and sometimes even the top of my shoe! Only when I reached my mid-50s did all such "nervous behaviors" finally fade. Not completely gone, but much less costly to my footwear. Sometimes, my shoes now wear out from the bottom! Looking back, I suspect they may have been responses to agitation, perhaps due to anxiety or emotional/social stress. Which may make them what today we'd call "self-soothing behaviors", rather than something in or related to my muscular nerves.

@rhinoboy6603
@rhinoboy6603 9 месяцев назад
The obsessions are not the problem, it’s the compulsions. The gold standard is to be able to just let the thoughts be there and carry on with life but it’s ok to do this, it shows the obsessions for what they are - thoughts. Not true, not false, just thoughts.
@you_dont_wanna_know1969
@you_dont_wanna_know1969 9 месяцев назад
@@rhinoboy6603 ok. But when such thoughts are so many, that won't let you concentrate for basic tasks, or even have a regular social conversation, I guess that's another level of OCD? At such level thoughts are not just "thoughts" but they start overflowing and impacting other areas of life.
@rhinoboy6603
@rhinoboy6603 9 месяцев назад
@@you_dont_wanna_know1969 that’s what OCD is, obsessing for hours about something that feels horrendous until the OCD itself ruins your life more than the thought ever could. But trying to worry less doesn’t work. It’s the old don’t think of a pink elephant and what do you think of? With OCD the thoughts are not the problem. Obsessing is a symptom not the cause. It’s our reaction to the thoughts that keeps them going. The brain is lazy, when you stop reacting to something as if it’s a threat, allowing it to be there, it realises it isn’t a threat and does something else. The byproduct of this is you obsess less not more

I understand this and it makes sense but the part that gets me and I struggle with is being able to distinguish intuition from fear based OCD thoughts. Like my mind will come up with these thoughts of “what if” but it feels like fate sometimes and like a “sign” to do that thing and then I’ll do it and then have thoughts and fear of “oh crap did I do it again? What if this was the wrong choice? But it feels like the right choice…I think” So it feels like I constantly can’t really trust myself with anything and that eventually my OCD will ruin things for me again, like relationships, jobs, family matters, life choices, etc

See if you think "this is all your thought" and after 2-3 seconds you feel i didn't say correctly and you say it again again then it's mostly your ocd.if you control your physical compulsion then your ocd just converted into your mind compulsion like repeating words sentences and if you try to stop your mind compulsion then somehow it will converted into another ones.

If you know a compulsion of yours and feel the compulsion set a timer for 5 mins or even 1 min if that's too hard. Delay the compulsion or try not to do it at all. Notice your thoughts they are ONLY trying to protect you as a survival mechanism.

What if my ocd is about bad thoughts about christianity
@TheWolfox911
@TheWolfox911 10 месяцев назад
There is something that's actually called religious OCD. My 22 yr old son does this. He just starts saying Jesus, Jesus over and over when he just can't get anything else out and so lost in it . We know where these thoughts are coming from so fighting with our spirit is even more important than our flesh. Take your thought... go to Scripture.... Find the Truth ... It's also what God tells us to do. The minions are gone immediately but remember that the chemicals racing through your body will take a bit longer to stop. To truly cut your nervous system off... This works ... Brain stem through Parasympathetic works by oxygen, etc. ... Breathe IN 4 seconds ~ HOLD 3-5 ~ Breathe OUT 8 seconds. Trust me... Your brain responds instantly. 3-4 times should do it! ❤❤ 🙏🙏 Praying for you!!

Not true, it's INSANELY UNLIKELY for OCD thoughts to become physical behaviors unless there is MAJOR RESISTANCE for a very very very long time. You need to accept the OCD is only trying to protect you as a survival mechanism. Your brain is making you suffer so that you "suffer less" and yes its not rational, but our nervous systems don't know how to be rational when they are so disregulated.
