Stumbled onto this video while searching for a different issue in my sheet using VLOOKUP. Will be switching that to XLOOKUP. Thanks for a great tutorial. Now I will go see if I can find a video on my actual question 😂
Hi. Your videos are very useful, easy to understand because of comparing all the functions immediately in the same sheet. Bring us more videos, pls 😉 Anyway, i have a question. What is the difference between XLOOKUP and INDEX MATCH? Thank you
6:35 main difference : xlookup only selects array(column), not the entire table: look up array & return array 8:24 allows error handling function. Instead of NA, customise return value.
Thank you for all your videos. You are a great trainer. Please how can I Compare two lists A and B in different workbooks? List A is the standard. If there are differences in List B, we copy the correct value from A to list B.
Great videos. Is there a way for Excel to look up and return one result from more than two criteria? For example there are four sales staff, they have monthly commissions and various KPIs, if I put their name say John Smith in one cell, then July in another cell and finally revenue in another cell, can XLookup etc. be used to return the commission earned from various tables (each sales person has a table on he same spreadsheet)?
So in other words Vlookup needs from you the number of column from which it will return a value, but in Xlookup you will exactly write down which column it will be.
xlookup can't easily return blank instead of zero, if you include empty lines? Hence not usable on unitiated values, or your form is going to be full of zeros.
I was working on this recently. Thought I might try xlookup. But vlookup works on arrays of inputs and outputs. Seemed like xlookup didn't. What is your experience please?
Thanks for the explanation. I'm using XLOOKUP for a delivery date columm and they are returning in number format. If I format to date, whenever I have a cell without a date, it returns as the 00/01/1900 since is empty. How can I fix it? Because its working fine for the ones that match and have a date, but when I have a match and an empty date, it's getting frustrating. Tks in advance.
Unfortunately you need to be using a newer version of Excel including the online version. Otherwise you will need to continue to use VLOOKUP or INDEX MATCH.
I think XLookup is best to use. Because we need to put only one formula of XLookup and we get the right value. In other case (Index match) we need to combine 2 formula and combine more data. 😅 XLookup is best💯
