Yeah this is 100% true. I coached low elo players and at the beginning tried to give a lot of info but then realised they first needed to learn the basics. Gunfight higiene, crosshair placement and super basic game theory. When in gold/plat then we advance with harder stuff. Great content brooo!! Keep it up

I’d like to elaborate on this. This “fundamentalist” thought process, where you build your skills from the ground up is ALWAYS the way to go. This doesn’t stop at silver. I have RADIANT students who make very elementary mistakes consistently, and instead of over complicating things, most of the time it’s stuff like “are you tradeable?” Or “why did you make this play?”. Now, this is still more complicated then fundamental skills, but these players think they are “beyond” thinking, and get punished SEVERELY for it. Most advice that will help you if you are below radiant is going to be simple, recreate-able, and fundamental. There is no “one trick” that will get you to radiant/imm/asc etc. it’s about being consistent, and realizing when you are wrong that makes the best players.

I disagree on giving higher elo advice to lower elo players somewhat. I think it instills bad habits for when they do climb. Yes, absolutely you shouldn't be using super high level strats against players with the intelligence of a goldfish, but I think reinforcing low elo strats can be detrimental. Yes, it can get you out of Bronze, but it won't get you past Gold. There are definitely pieces of advice this doesn't apply to, but generally I'd say that its fine to give concepts of on-angles and off-angles to lower elo players.
@Vader_00

ive actually been coached by worthyTV before i dont think hes a bad coach at all but not all of his advice is particularly good and is based on opinion; he thinks TDM is a bad gamemode when i think its really useful for getting better at gunfight hygene. He is also right about watching Tenz, Tenz just can outaim a lot of people in ranked but he makes a lot of stupid plays that would never work on an even playing field. i dont think you should pay for coaching at all though just play the game and enjoy it, theres a lot of free content to use. A lot of coaches do this full time because its a money gold mine since valorant is so popular and a lot of people want to have a different colored gem in their title. I like Hooj but I think some of his advice is under the basis that your teammates will be competent which is never true, they will always be garbage in every elo. He is against playing Reyna and Chamber even though they are the best agents to rank up with against players that are worse than you. His argument for this is that their util doesnt help your team, even though teammates always have garbage util anyways which is why Omen/Chamber/Reyna/Phoenix and Jett will always dominate ranked while Kayo doesnt. He also acts like aim doesnt hold players back which is 100% not true. Source: Diamond 1

you're welcome to have your opinion, but in the clip I was showing he was showing the minimap for a minimap frag. I should have let the clip play longer. But yeah a bronze player shouldnt even touch the minimap because they're so lacking in basics they need to really focus on movement and aiming.

Im not here to start shit, we have had convos before. But this VoD wasnt teaching a bronze, it was a full tenz review for tier 3 patrons to sit in on. That he cut up for YT after, and put bronze as a joke and to create interaction. If you watched the vid, or just your own At 4:04 it reffirms this. The title is standard YT clickbait to get people to interact. While yes, some concepts can be complex for certain ranks, without knowing the players its not on you to decide that for them. Especially when people get results. Theres players i know who i havent gave complex concepts to, and some who i have because they can handle it. Creators equally need to stop putting these hit pieces out on other creators though. Especially when we assume and lack full context. Be better then this.
@menmaro
@menmaro 9 месяцев назад
How the fuck is this a hit piece? Nobody watching this knows the bronze icon was a joke, and I certainly wont sit through the entire video to happen upon a sentence where he may or may not have said this isn't actually for bronze players. When the video has a bronze icon, it indicates to bronze viewers that this advice is for them. So it isn't on me to assume that the misinformation in the video isnt a misinformation because of an inside joke he has with his tier 3 patron users. The title might be clickbait but it adds to the detrement because again, we don't know if it's clickbait or if hes being serious becsuse he never debunks that title in the video. This wasnt a hit piece lmao I was being incredibly kind to him and not calling him out as a person but rather the information he's giving. I even say at the end that he isnt a bad coach. Saying you arent here to start shit and then accusing me of creating a hit piece on a person when I didnt speak about him as a person is insanely disengenous
@menmaro
@menmaro 9 месяцев назад
Also I just went to watch the part you linked in my video. It says "FULL VOD REVIEW" not Pro Analysis, further leading the viewer to believe that he used the tenz vod to explain these concepts to a bronze player he's vod reviewing. The onus isnt on the viewer to try and figure out if this is a vod review for bronze or a pro analysis if EVERYTHING in the video points to it being a vod review for a bronze player. Be better than this.
@WendlerTV

@@menmaro im down to have a further conversation on this over VC, but theres no point to meet me with hostility when im being real with you, the same way you felt you were in this video. The points you make in this are relative strawmans and arent actual premises, or an excuse, to just cut and make assumptions on what the video is about. “You cant teach advance concepts to low ranks”. As a teacher, im sure you have students that excel at a faster pace then others. Its on you, as the teacher, to adjust that pace based on that. Some students need reinforcement on theory, some dont. Even if we take the concept of “does a bronze understand on/off angles” you cant properly judge if its effective unless you know who the individual is. Thats not on you to decide if they are too dumb or not to fundamentally handle being taught said concept. “Bronze Icon indicates its for bronze”, “title doesnt indicate intent” while equally stating “i didnt watch the whole video” While, the icon does bait that, the point is to get people to watch said video. It ironically is proving the premise right that you reviewed it because of this. You just didnt watch the rest of the video because you already made the assumption on what or who it was for. That is a choice YOU made, yes. Nearly 2 minutes in that video worthy posted, states the benefits along with coaching being FREE, in mix with the opening 10 seconds of his video stating “for full vod t3 sub”. You can choose to put the effort in to ask “why would a bronze review be locked to t3 patreon subs?” Im not saying you have to fundamentally agree with Worthys Philosophy on coaching either. With hooj even mentioning himself that he is a solo-queue focused coach, theres some concepts i disagree with, esp as someone who does high end analyst work. That doesnt make him bad obviously, its his philosophy on what/how he teaches. If a coach feels they can go deeper on a concept, that doesnt make them a “bad coach” i just dont understand that premise at all. Plenty of teachers and coaches in my life have done this. You dont paint a broad stroke because “x” student learns at a different pace. You can create benchmarks, sure. But you dont assume every student all of a sudden cant handle the next concept. “Its not a hit piece” yet in your vid you are targeting him in the thumbnail, specifically calling out his philosophy after you admit you didnt watch the full video, then say “its not on you” to make that choice when you actively did. That type of content is cheap content no matter how you draw it up. Im asking you to “be better” menmaro because i know you can make better content then short creator dig pieces under the ideal that its “being real”. If you watched the whole thing and went “yeah i dont agree with rank/title/etc” i wouldnt be commenting. When you watch a short amount, admit you didnt watch the whole thing followed with assumptions, im gonna call out the cheap-made content. You ARE better then that. Whether you choose to read that and understand my intent is on you. Best of luck out there.
@menmaro
@menmaro 9 месяцев назад
@@WendlerTV the only reason I met u with hostility was because you're accusing me of making a hit piece on the guy when I specifically say in the video he isnt a bad coach, the video's intent was to shine a light on coaches that can cause more detriment than good. If I start reading a book that was titled something ridiculous like "this is why professional players are worse than amatuer players" and the first 5 pages don't dispute that but instead add to that title, I'm not going to continue reading the book or make the assumption that the book didnt actually mean it because I had to buy it to read it. It's not on me to try to figure out why his bronze vod review might be locked behind a patreon, it isnt on bronze viewers to try to crack that code either. If one of my students excels above their class, they no longer are classified to be at the same skill level in that class. If we gave the class a rank of bronze, that sudent would be gold and then sure, I'd teach them higher ranked information as it were. But I wouldnt give out that information and publicly show that just because this one bronze student excelled and became gold therefore Im giving them gold advice, meaning all bronze students should now take this gold advice in the hopes that when they excel to gold they'll remember this advice. Does that make sense? Also the difference here is that he put tenz in the thumbnail and title citing that watching him can make you a worse player, and not once did he dispute that fact, whereas I did dispute the fact that worthy is a bad coach. The whole point of the video was to point it out to him and other coaches that the content you put out under the guise of advice for bronze students or whatnot can cause them to not climb because they're focusing on the wrong thing. I was very much kinder to him than he was to me in his video about me and my video on Jollz. So no I do not accept the premise that this video is a hit piece.
@WendlerTV
@WendlerTV 9 месяцев назад
@@menmaro The detriment you describe is based on a 2 minute analysis of that content though? Like i said, id have no issue with calling out an opinion, if it was backed throughly. Im the type of person that just calls what i see. If you disagree with his philosophy, cool, but its very odd to me to think that explaining bits of an advanced concept somehow is detrimental when you do NOT know who the specific student is. He could feel that student can handle that concept, thats on him to decide if its too much or not, not for us to decide for them, no? It is a strawman to compare the title to a book, as youtube’s algorithim isnt built to support or sustain that 1:1. Unless you already have an audience built that likes and retains that deep level concept to be more, realistic or however you want to refer to it as. Its plausible that the title doesnt work. Its 100% fair, but at the same time youtube needs interaction to feed into said algorithim. You need people to click, act immediately to further feed your content. If you feel that you didnt want to watch the rest of the VoD talking about Tenz and multiple +/- of his gameplay, then how are we making a full video discussing why the content is immediately not favorable. That is equivalent to how game reviewers get flamed for playing 10-20% of a game and deciding its worth. Seen plenty of that from Dunkey or other creators blasting. You watched 10% or less of the vid, then made a decision. Its one thing to say its not for you, its another to say that the content is detrimental after not watching. That again is a choice YOU made not relative to the quality of his content. The point of Bronze/Gold makes sense, but its hard to create extra baselines on the fly of “ok this is a bronze player with gold/plat mentals” because you dont know where theyll plateau at next. Even in Hooj’s reviews, he states their real current rank, and theres been several players where the condition was met of giving advanced concepts while telling them to just play more and theyll rank up. Players can be bronze, understand the next theory of “on/off angles” while lacking in other areas to still be bronze. Its not on anyone to really decide for them. We can create baselines “every bronze should know”, but we cannot create a ceiling for what they may understand. Maybe that understanding of angles pushes them to the next tier. Its plausible he doesnt answer the question in the thumbnail to round out the question players are looking for, 100% can be tied to retention etc. thats valid. As for his vid on you regarding Jollz, im not here to speak on his behalf. Thats a conversation between you two should you care to approach that. All my point is, as creators we can do better as a whole by not making assumptions about one’s intent. Its cheap cop-out content, and that i didnt fundamentally agree with the points made when the video or other routes werent considered. You cant make a video asserting something as factual, then say “its our of my hands” in putting the backend work in, to get that information. You 100% can, you just chose not to. Just to be clear, i dont hate you or feel any ill-will towards you. Best of luck out on your content journey.
