@@AbbeyYung yes PLEASE!!! It is so confusing out there, and I think these companies are deliberately taking advantage of women's (in particular!) fear of hair loss - especially since menopause became 'a thing' ... whilst the really positive discussions around menopause - finally recognising the real issues facing women at this time in their lives - I have noticed a HUGE amount of products being marketed specifically at peri/menopausal women .. from shampoos/conditioners to body washes/body skincare to these vitamins .. it is really cynical and dishonest IMHO. Thank you Abbey x
I'd love an episode in this series to be about products for greying hair. I've seen ads for products claiming to slow the greying of hair and am stumped by how a shampoo/conditioner could do that.
So appreciate not just the recommendations but also the de-influencing! I’ve never been steered wrong by Abbey’s advice and my hair health has improved so much in the last several months since I found her channel.💯🙏🏼
i really enjoyed this video because social media really makes someone feel like they need to use tons of products and tools in order to have healthy hair when all you need is just the basics and what your hair actually needs and that you don't always have to spend so much money to have good looking hair. please make this a series, i think a lot of us would highly appreciate it
Our girl here doing the Lord’s work. Thanks for sharing science based tips and for your honesty and integrity Abbie!! Yes please to the video about hair growth products and to making this a series 👏👏👏
Yes!! Thank you for mentioning the predatory nature of hair growth vitamins. I have alopecia areata and when I had my first flare up I was influenced by the marketing for hair growth vitamins and wasted money (and precious time) on them. For anyone that has hair loss... do not waste your time with over the counter products for hair loss (like hair growth vitamins, rosemary shampoos/oils, etc.). See a dermatologist ASAP before buying these products because time is often of the essence if it is related to an autoimmune issue and they will not help you if you have AA (or any other form of autoimmune hair loss).
The fact that when the “hair mask” shenanigans with Blake came out sounded like none sense to me because I see your videos, that’s when I know I am in a good youtube space with a knowledgable creator. Was waiting to hear your opinion about it, and boy am I satisfied :)
Vitamin D deficiency is associated with hair loss. My hair was falling like crazy and it occurred to me that I have a history of vitamin D deficiency so I started taking it in larger daily doses (10,000 ius) for a couple weeks and then back to 5000 ius/day and my hair stopped falling out and is back to normal. Hallelujah!! 🙌🙏😊
I lost about 50 percent of my hair in the past year. I wasn’t taking the vitamin D. I’ve been deficient for years because I don’t go into the sun anymore. I just started taking vit d like a month and a half ago. I’m hoping it will help. Cause I have an appt for the dermatologist for the hair loss next month.
10 000 ius is really not too large dose, that is the amount you get after being out in summer for 20 mins. I take 10000-15000 per day for years and it cured my depression. Also take care to take D3 together with K2 as only vitamin D alone can mess up calcium distribution in your body, K2 prevents that.
I purchased and started using the Dove hair mask you recommended. My breakage is almost invisible now and I have baby hair growth near my temples! Amazing AND affordable product.
Dyson hair tools has great benefits to the hair when used correctly. I’ve been using cheap, mediocre hair styler, hair blowers since I was young. I’m 34 now. But. Let. Me. Tell. You. Since I bought The Dyson air wrap last year, along with the blow dryer attachment. It has changed my hair game! Dyson really does know how to innovate with their products. The science behind their products truly speaks. It’s expensive, don’t get me wrong but best investment towards my healthy hair regimen now that I’m in my mid thirties. 12:06 But everything else you’ve mentioned since the expensive heat tools - I agreed ! Remember to be patient with your hair, stop brushing it harshly and set the blow dryer at low pressure for less damaging hair.
Abbey, you are my go-to beauty reviewer and you deserve millions more subs. One suggestion for terrible memory people like me; is to introduce yourself from time to time at the beginning or end of your videos, so we remember your channel name. The other day, I wanted to find you in my big list of creators (where sometimes RU-vid buries channels I sub to) and I blanked on your name (so sorry but I’m old). So, I think reminders here and there that you’re “Abbey” would help with subscriber recall. Just a suggestion from a huge fan who wants you to have more subs who benefit from your amazing content. ❤❤❤
I absolutely love my Dyson. I use it weekly and i do see a difference in the amount of damage my hair takes compared to when i used cheaper tools. That being said, i was gifted the Dyson and never would've bought it for myself had that not been the case. I just can't justify paying over 500 dollars for a hair tool, no matter how good it is.
Yes, please 😊I really enjoy this type of video. I’m struggling with my hair as I am getting older and massive weight loss. The amount of 💵 that I have spent on hair vitamins with no visible improvement is high (I used one product for more than a year). There are so many claims being made and I seem to fall for their promises. Glad I have found you and your honest reviews!
Love you Abbey!! I have been following you for a while!! I literally only listen to you when it comes to hair care and you never steer me wrong!! You got me and my family hooked on dove shampoo. But that’s just one. Basically anything you use I use lol!😂
Love your hair advice! Starting using Dove bond repair and the Pantene 10-in-1 leave in spray and my thin, fine, wavy hair has never felt or looked better. Keep up the amazing work!
I came in for a haircut with my baby 4 months postpartum and my hairstylist recommended biotin and I went home and realized my prenatal I’ve been taking while breastfeeding didn’t have biotin and got the great value version of hair skin and nail gummies for 5 bucks and it’s helped so much so even if you need hair vitamins because of being pregnant/postpartum/breastfeeding you don’t need to break the bank most of the ingredients and amounts are the same as high end!
Thank you, Abbey. I started doing DIY scalp scrubs many years ago. I just wet my hair, massaged my scalp with ANY conditioner and regular table sugar, then rinsed, shampooed, and conditioned. It feels really good, but I don’t think there’s any lasting benefit. I just do it now and then when I have the time and feel like I want extra self care. Word of caution: I have dark hair, 4N, and I did it too close to getting my hair colored. It dyed my scalp, though that was easily remedied by my regular hair care routine. I’m guessing any chemical service shouldn’t be done right after using any scalp scrub 🤷🏻♀️
I bought my Dyson airwrap when my hair dryer broke and it was the only heat styling tool I owned 😂 I use it every wash because it has a hair dryer attachment and at least one of the other attachments once a week. It was worth it for me!
Thank you for this video! I definitely would love to hear you go more in depth about the science (or lack of science) behind hair growth vitamins. I think it would be super fascinating and help us understand what to look out for.
I would absolutely love to see you create a video for those of us with fine, coarse, delicate, naturally curly hair, where It has been imbedded into our brains over the past several years that it is absolutely imperative we avoid silicones, sulfates, etc... For a time, it seemed to work, however, as of late my hairs are so brittle and the curl pattern very wonky. I do use Curlsmith Bond Salve and my products vary in price from 10. Can to 50. Can per item. Try to read labels, etc, however it is so confusing. I appreciate your videos, as you are so thorough and present everything in layman's terms :) I want to grow my hair as long as possible and would love your feedback.
The celebrity brands, in general, annoy me as these people have make-up artists and hairdressers on speed-dial .. they don't even have to leave their homes without getting a full 'make-over' .. something most of us mortals only on get on really special occasions ... for me it is kina like brands using models with false lashes for advertising mascara .. it is really patronising .. they should have a tag-line that says .. 'You too, little inadequate human who looks like crap, can fall outta bed with luscious locks like me ..' 🤢
Also they have no relevant experience in creating the prosucts they’re trying to sell. Like, even if you do use haircare or makeup a lot it doesn’t automatically make you an expert on formulating those
I buy my vitamins at Costco. It’s cheaper and fills in the gaps from my diet. It’s also cheaper. Vitamins are great for overall health! It’s just not meant to target an area of your body.. like these companies keep marketing. 😂
would love to see recs/video on caring for naturally graying hair. i went prematurely gray and let it grow in and it's different from my non-gray hair in texture, behavior, and moisture!
Would love a series on this! It seriously sucks that hair science is still not deeply understood or popular and these brands take full advantage of this. Another scam is people taking sponsorships out the a** for a check.
One must be careful saying there is a difference in length if a model has curly or coiled hair, such as Sugar Bear model #1. The hair can appear substantially longer in the after picture by straightening or styling with less curl or coil. Also tilting of the head differently can change the apparent hair length in photos taken from behind.
Abbey after watching your recent video on your hair routine I have to ask - have you ever styled your hair wavy/curly before? I couldn’t help but notice that when you scrunched your hair you had a bit of a curl pattern! I feel like you could have mermaid waves if you were to use a holding product (gel or mousse), scrunch while fully saturated with sufficient moisture, and diffuse! I also follow Manes by Mell and she’s my go-to to style my naturally wavy hair if you’re ever interested!
So glad I saw this video! I was just at Sally’s, heavily contemplating on getting minoxidil hair vitamins. Glad I put off purchasing it. Thank you so much for keeping us informed!❤️
So true. I have medium density hair only and wavy, technically it does not look like I have a lot of hair at all, but it is definitely not fine hair - basically that is what I am trying to say. But somehow, my hair likes getting a mask as well as a conditioner in my routine, idk, it just works. Scalp scrubs: I have always found this category ridiculous, so far no matter how many products I have been using, using a good sulfate shampoo has always cleansed everything away. One similar product for which I have found use though when I use a gentler shampoo is a salycilic acid scalp treatment before shampooing.
I switched from pureology to the dove bond strength and holy moly what a change. I love purology but I realized I can get the same or better results with cheaper products.
Yes, deep dive into hair vitamins! I notice my body hair and nails grow faster when I take the Olly Beauty supplements, so I take that as a sign that my hair might be growing faster, too.
I always appreciate the info you provide in your videos! I would love to see a video about curly hair. My hair is curly, fine, and thinning, plus it falls out easily because of hyperthyroidism. It can be a challenge.
My hair has totally transformed, for the better, since I did a clean sweep and started using your suggested routine and products. Thank you. Thank. Thank you.
I've been in the market for a hair dryer and my hair is not only fine but pin straight. So pin straight it does not hold a curl or even have a natural wave to it. I saw this because I've looked at the Dyson and shark tools and they have all these accessories while I think they look amazing and seem to work for so many people I can't justify buying then when I will only use the blow dryer part.
Yes to a series and I'd love your views on all the divi products. I really like them but curious on a scientific level if they are helping or if it's in my head lol
not only do I love your content but you giving credit to your fellow colleague on this platform is making you even more valuable as a content creator in my eyes!
Im so crying about my dmadged hair! Yesterday I received my Living proof, K18, OGX Haur oil and the purelogy spray. I will post within 6 months if there is a change. 2 Yesrs ago I bleached my hair since then, my hair didnt grow an inch..😢 So, im so excited to try your recommended products.
Idk. I’ve noticed a huge difference in my hair using Nutrafol honestly. I was definitely skeptical but decided to try it. It’s been a little over a year and my hair has definitely improved overall.
I would love for Abbey to talk about Nutrafol. I have been taking it since October. I can’t really tell if it’s doing anything. I have bad hair though.
The number of so-called Influencers and Reality Stars hawking Nutrafol is crazy. Why would I think Kristin Cavallari or Brittany Cartwright would know anything about hair care. I only trust those who actually have done research like Abbey vs someone who is paid just to hawk the product. Why do brands think people will believe anything,
Love your videos! And about the biotin - I was taking a supplement and my doctor told me that I didn’t need it unless I was deficient in it and she also told me it would interfere with my thyroid medication and skew the thyroid blood work. I stopped it.
I have never had healthier hair than when I started using Dyson blowdryers. But that’s also because they don’t get hot enough to keep any style in place 🤭
Hi Abbey, I’d love for you to talk about the Split Ender and the general concept of such products. We hear all kinds of different theories and opinions, from positive experiences to the most negative and I think you are the one that can objectively clarify this. I guess my questions would be: if so, why and how does it have a negative impact on the hairlenght? How is it any different than manually cutting your splitend with a scissor one by one? And lastly, besides the product itself, is trimming split ends something you do and recommend in between hair salon sessions? Thank you for the great video as always xxx
It doesn't necessarily matter if somone "needs" it, as the Doctorly always says on their channel you "may still want it" I love all of Lemme's supplements, including Lemme Glow & will continue to buy it. I do agree with you though... it's not a "need" & if you don't have the extra money not something you should focus your spending on.
Great video. Would love a series. I totally agree with you about supplements. I particularly hate that many brands add sugar to them turning them into candy. Then again they seem about as useful as candy.
As influencers are part of the marketing “crew” by doing ads, it would be totally reasonable that they an add can be reported for the same reason as if a company would do it and allow to examine if it was part of a contract, and take the issue with the company doing that.
I agree with you but there is one celebrity product I really like! It's Lolavie Perfecting Leave In. I only need a little bit and it really does cut down on frizz and is a great leave in!
