I also do this with the search restricted to 100 miles of me to see what other sellers in my area are finding local to me. That helps me focus on what’s most likely to be available to me locally.
Keep in mind too that people could be sourcing elsewhere too. I live in Ohio but travel to CA and source while I'm there visiting because I find more higher value items there than I do where I live.
You are one of the very. very few resellers on RU-vid who actually 'get it'. Reselling on any platform boils down to one simple word..... MATH. Sell through rates, pricing, quantities, shipping, etc... are all objective data points. Once you accept that and apply them to your business you will see positive results. Would be great if everyone took your advice to heart. Great job!!!
I do not watch what sold or thrift haul videos anymore. They were interesting in my early years of reselling. Not anymore. I also no longer watch live sales by you tube influencers. I watched dozens of them in the past. Now I just watch Q&A and informational videos. Thanks, Cayley!!
I knew how to research a little; but you just taught me how to dig deep and get to where I need to be. Thank You for all of your generous content and help 😃
Nice Cayley - we talked about this a while back remember? I'm glad you made this video, seriously people need to take this to heart. Another pro tip for doing these searches is to switch your search results to Gallery View (the little icon in the top right next to Sort - you can toggle between List/Gallery and Gallery gives you more comps on screen at once) Also.... shelves looking TITE (nice little sneak peek lol)
I listen to hauls and what solds in the background as I absorb the names as I'm working. I also feel like I'm a part of a community and that I'm not working alone. Also there are several folks who just have voices made for listening to. I find you, Mogi Beth, and Rebekah Allison so calming to listen to. Plus I am an old fuddy duddy and appreciate that y'all don't curse, yell, or neg on anyone else. ❤
WOW! You share some of the best information that I’ve seen during the last year of my reselling ‘education!’ I can’t thank you enough for all of your videos!
I watch thrift hauls, but only like 1-2 RU-vidrs (your channel included). There are others that sell for style, but though I might like picking something up because it is cute, I want something that has a sell-through rate. I like the "Ship with Me" videos to see what is selling for them, but not necessarily for me to go out and pick up the exact same thing. I also stopped watching (for the most part) the channels that don't share their cost of goods. That is a red flag for me. I am trying to model my sourcing after your shop, and so far it has helped me. I like learning new brands that I can find in my area, whether bread and butter or BOLOs.
This is absolute GOLD! I so appreciate how generous you are with information! I wanted to know how to "do the research" and here it is! Thank you, Thank you! I know this is going to up my game! I'm trying to learn how to optimize my titles, get better items and my pictures are bad- I need help with that too and why oh why can't I get the right color to show- my pix are always off on color! I so appreciate you and your willingness to share the game- thank you Cayley 🧡
Oh my. This is the most helpful video in the world. LOL. I was trying to do something like this the other day and didn’t know about all the filters. This will make it so much better. Thank you for taking the time to do this for us!
Always glad when you make a video. I know it’s going to be very beneficial to my reselling. I love how you are very informative, easier to watch, listen and learn from..
Gold! Thank you! Also gave me a good idea about what styles are trending eg peasant style in women's tops. I was passing on these cause I personally don't wear them. 🤯🧡
Thank you SO MUCH for this!!! As someone who has been casually selling for a few years (just pieces from my personal stuff) but who wants to make the shift into more substantially reselling, this is SO helpful!! Obviously I knew about “searching solds,” but clearly that can mean a lot of different things. And I would feel dumb and just not ask people the best way to go about it, so there’s a lot of little nuggets in here that I would not have thought of on my own. Thank you for this!!! 🙌🏻
I “watch” or really listen to hauls to learn about new to me brands! Example, I learned about Robert Graham dress shirts from you… picked one up this week and it sold within 24 hours! Thank you for all the information you share, it is very helpful to those of us just starting out 😘
Just now getting to this video and this is so great. Really good info here-thanks so much for sharing this. I don't watch a ton of content about hauls and such but belong to a couple of FB groups that talk about their stuff. This method seems like it's a great use of time! :) Thank you!
Cayley, just watching pretty much every video you’ve posted the last 6 to 9 months has helped improve my reselling business! Thank you for all the information and valuable content you put out!
I 💕 u!! Like 5 years! That’s about my pace, when all of a sudden I realize I should’ve been doing this or that like ➡️ this, and it seems so bleeping obvious. 😊 Beth
WOW.. I am working on my real job and listening to you in the background. Had to turn off my "timer" which keeps me on track to watch this. Fantastic view!!! Thank you so much for this! Going on vacation next week and going to do some research while on the beach.
Yes!! I have picked up brands that you pick up and they do not move for me. I sell what’s common in my area. I’m in Florida so we have a lot of active/outdoor wear, golfing clothes etc. Career wear is garbage here and dresses are a hit and miss. I try to get my inventory mostly from the bins bc cost of goods are higher here.
Love this idea! Great tips...I love it. I also do the local area searches too but I must confess I haven't done it for awhile! I'm guilty of watching the sold videos...especially yours! But I am going to do this every time I go sourcing...this is extremely helpful! Thanks so much! 😍
love this idea such helpful information I don't like to pick up swimwear and I have been able to check out the better ones to look for when thrifting .
Cayle,Thanks for the deep dive into the pants category. I research a category or brand every week, however, I hadn’t gone this deep. Thanks for helping me expand my research and sourcing❤️
Brilliant! I do some of these but it's been haphazard. You're more methodical and don't spend too much time. It just gets your mindset attuned to what to look for and you can store the info away for future reference. These brands (and their labels) will be familiar so you can pick them out and look them up while out in the wild. Thanks for this! 😁👍
I like watching thrift hauls to see what sells well for others, but I'm still heavily looking at sell thru rates when sourcing. Alot of brands that others get or sell thru great for them, either aren't in my area or don't sell well for me.
Yeah, thanks for this. Odd how what sells for one seller is miserable for another. That's what confuses me the most. When it comes down to it, you have to do the work and find what works for you.
Good stuff. I’ve been trying to share the kinds of useful data available on eBay for a long while but non eBay sellers can’t really hear me. Lol. One more tip - just above the graph you called out near the beginning, there is a price guide with 3 levels. Always different based on your search. So if brand X dresses shows $15, 15-25, and over $25 that’s pretty low. If it shows you $35, $35-75, and over $75 that’s more likely to be a winner. Thanks again.
I like this video because it's different! There's only a few you tubers who I think have good thrift hauls. They can be good if they explain why they picked it up...like you do with your factor stacking. Also how much they paid and what they hope to sell for us very helpful. Very few people do that though. They just hold up what they bought and show how much they spent. They might add how much they love it, but nothing of substance.
Love this video! I have been trying to teach myself to do better research and this video gave me so much more of the info and details I needed to do more effective research. Thanks so much :)
Hey Cayley. I really enjoyed this video, thank you! However, it’s funny- I specifically consume your hauls and what sold videos because 90% of the time I am driving or multi tasking, and cannot view my screen at all. I know listening to other creators is not a substitute for doing my own personal research, but I trust your research-based business, and listening is MUCH better than doing nothing! Very helpful content for those constantly on the go. You and Nikki are the best!
