I love this. As a girl it's sad to see that a lot of guys don't get to explore their personal style because they don't know how to or where to start. This channel is great because you just explain simple steps, tricks and principles of dressing that can work for a lot of people and don't require buying a whole new wardrobe, and without trying to push the idea that it's the only correct way and everything else is wrong. Keep doing what you do because it's amazing
@@TheFyreSA I really like Vivacious Honey on RU-vid and Instagram. As a guy, I really like her style and she has a website that has links for everything she wears in all of her videos. I use it to find inspiration for shopping for my fiance.
Same here, but I did add a couple of chinos into the mix and found I like them. I wear the same jacket, but the different colored pants does change up the look a bit.
@@JohnPickup-CDHS-ze6qd I need something to wear during the time between the first one getting too dirty to keep wearing till I can find the motivation to wash it
The workwear pants always gets me past the “jeans are frowned upon at the office” vibe, while still keeping the comfort, fit, and flexibility of denim. Awesome advice.
@@rlkinnard I can’t speak for Parker, but for me “workwear” pants have the look of a dress-ish pants but are made of sturdier material. The brand I’m most familiar with (and that I have in 5 diff colors) is Dickies: fits like jeans or chinos but look a little bit classier.
Thank you for demonstrating how men can class it up. I have three sons that know how to dress well and iron their own clothing too! Its important to look "polished "
Theres nothing like a well worn-in pair of jeans. They look good with almost any outfit, they are durable, carefree and the longer you wear them the better they look. I love denim.
I literally love chinos so much! I’ve been wearing them exclusively for years and have multiple pairs of each type. Never have been a fan of jeans and am surprised more people haven’t caught onto the many great alternatives!
I'm not gay. Far from it. But this MF is just handsome with his mcdreamy hair from Grey's anatomy. Anything looks good on him. I just tried on that outfit and I had the cops called on me
I haven't worn jeans since 8th grade because my high school had a business casual dress code and I discovered how comfortable a decent pair of dress pants can be and how versatile. I still have jeans but only one or two compared to the 10-12 trousers and dress pants I have
@@vanadar00 it's more of immigrant kid actually got opportunities kind of life. The school was a public magnet school that had connections to colleges and universities. They wanted us to look professional, so we had a dress code to look business casual. It was a good opportunity but yeah, I couldn't go out with some of my friends from high school because they were trust fund/high income family kids living around the area the high school was where the cost of living was about 5 times higher than where I live. The school was an extreme mix of students 47% of the student body being from low-income/below the poverty line families but we tested in (the school only accepted the top 10% of us). The other kids who lived in the area just went there because it was convenient for them to walk 2 minutes from their million-dollar homes/condos. Even though I only got my dress clothes through Salvation Army, the dress pants I got were nice and made me realize how comfortable they were. I used to wonder why they wouldn't just let us wear jeans as high schoolers, but it was the rule they set. The only time it posed a problem was when they changed the dress code for shoes a month into the school year since we already bought our shoes and couldn't afford to buy new ones just yet. We made an appeal that they couldn't change it until the next school year.
@@techvidz4451 When I was in high school I just went with black flats because they were simple and the cheapest business casual-looking shoes costing about $5 at the time
While theres nothing inherently wrong with flannel its been worn so many time that its just been beat to death. Flannel was nice for a while cuz men in the 2010s where finally wearing somthing put together but now thats the only "nice" thing guys wear so its just gone back to being another lazy jean-esque item. But if you insist on wearing them, i can imagine this guy wearing them with jeans (or chinos), boots, (or loafers) and maybe glasses. Probably no metal jewelry cuz flannels are rustic but maybe a twine bracelet
@@epictetushasepictiddiez2615 my two cents from a female perspective (if i were looking at a potential male partner): I personally would never think "oh, that's a dated clothing item" like that about something UNLESS it looked bad on him to begin with, because he looks uncomfortable or didn't style it well. like if he's making it work, trendiness does not enter into the equation at ALL for me; i look at a guy's personal style and just plain if the outfit looks good on him. Just in case any straight men* are psyching themselves out about this, I suspect most women don't have standards this high. Again this is personal, trumped by your own style values & also what you want in a partner (e.g. maybe you do also want a person who appreciates trends). all this to say I think flannel is really handsome actually. *Advice not applicable to gay men lol. I'm staying in my lane on that one
In my opinion, this applies to women, as well. I see so many women my age (50's) looking frumpy in their jeans. Slacks or stretchy black pants simply look better.
Whut!? Tell Cher not to wear jeans. Denims come in a variety of styles, slim, straight, stretch material. Wear them with a silk, lacey blouse, a jacket, high heels and dark shades- Gansta! The women you see are just frumpy, not because of jeans. I'm Cher's age and will not cut my hair short either. 😄
Most women don't work with their post menopause body portions. I helped a lady in her 50s not wear a tunic shirt and capris and tuck in a shirt with a pair of Bermudas at top of knee looks.
Yes i feel like a lot of guys are a bit afraid to branch out from jeans but lot of these alternatives are more comfortable while also looking more put together and allowing you to have more versatility in color schemes so it’s nice to have some to mix it up !
I really enjoy your channel. Many other channels say only wear jeans, or chinos, or dress pants, and in a certain way, but I am glad you believe in variety. I wear jeans and loafers, saddle shoes, dress pants, and casual shoes in a mash, so I am glad to see all pants used in your videos!
What?! No. He actually could do a size down. Adjust his shoulders and lengthen his torso. His dress shirt could also be tapered in to bring out his chest, since he’s 3 buttons down and again getting the right shoulder placement. Hanging about half an inch off. This is what a stylist sees.
I think that you're right. But I also think that some people like to wear things a little oversized/undersized so that may be his preference even if it's not really to his proportions.
Loving dress pants with a tucked in t-shirt since I lost a bit of belly fat. Gotta show that silhouette off somehow huh! Throw on some suede Chukka boots and I get a LOT of positive comments at the office whilst everyone else is in jeans n sneaks.
And here I finally convinced my husband to buy a pair of jeans after 5 years of dating and 6 months of marriage. Thankfully he likes them. I hope he buys more
I didn't know I was fashionable. He pretty much pulled every pair of pants I have, just skip the dress pants with a denim shirt. Tractor Supply is my favorite for getting good deals on work clothes including pocket Tee's. What I really want to see is corduroy jean cut pants with the watch pocket. They don't need to be bell bottoms like I wore in high school, but that hidden watch pocket turned out to be very valuable. You know, like keeping rubbers hidden until needed.
As an overweight woman with rolls, jeans are my comfort go-to. Just thinking about trying any other bottoms besides maybe a jean skirt is daunting. But I'm determined to upgrade my style this year.
I’m not a professional (And my mom is super traditional with the clothing I wear so I really don’t own a suit or dress pants) but a think I like to look for to tell them apart would be the differences in cut, differences in silhouette and generally differences in fabrics. Using those help me make guesses (usually accurate ones in my experience) on whether the pants are for nicer events or simply to look professional at work.
Workwear pants are going to be made of more durable materials with a looser cut that you can move better in, as they're designed for working class jobs. It's a pretty broad term which can encompass everything from dressier uniform pants--which seems to be what he's talking about here--to things like carpenter's jeans and waxed canvas tin pants. Dress pants, on the other hand, are meant to look formal above all else.
Your channel is a wonderful resource for men, but I get tips here, too. Seriously, I'm more put-together now after watching a dozen or so of your videos.😊
chinos black denim brown or even ecru cargo pants are great choices. herringbone tweeds are another favorite or pinstriped charcoal gray goes well with anything
Thanks for letting guys know that. My brother wears only jeans and owns one tuxedo for fancy occasions. I personally think men look so much better in all those other fabrics other than jeans. They look more mature and attractive!
Jeans looked worse in the first fit, arguably better in the second, but the third outfit is elevated so much by the dress pants. If you really think jeans look better in the third you’d be a part of a very small minority
@@James-xm3ex Switching from jeans in the last look removes color and obscures his silhouette, straightening out his legs making him look boxy. The black and white combo especially looks bland. I’d argue the only fit in this video that isn’t markedly worse is the second, because the strong beige and fit of the chinos retains the color and shape of the jeans, and it adds some color contrast with the denim jacket.
@@Gafafsg so the only fit that looks almost as good was the one with the closest looking pants to denim? Just say you're a southern father and move on lmaoo
@@Gafafsg The second fit looks by far the worst. Dress pants elevated the third look and this "boxiness" you're referring to are simply non-tapered pants. I guess I'm on a channel for 40 year olds. Forgot about that. Y'all can't dress.
I've been implementing this for YEARS. My style is one of my most complimented attributes. I personally don't care for chinos. But I implement all of the other pairings often.
@@AZ-gm2md yes, it undeniably is. Whatever styles you can pull off/which suit you etc. are going to be due to how your hair is structured to begin with. This is basic knowledge but alright.
I went through an entire phase without wearing jeans. But some jeans today interest me, so I’m back to buying jeans. But yes mix it up people. Stop wearing ONLY jeans, you look like everyone else.
Good video, definitely got my attention, but what REALLY got me was Tom Cardy's Red Flags playing in the background and that might not be the best but it was certainly attention grabbing XD
I go to a uniform shop and buy first responder pants. They’re comfortable and durable plus they have pockets galore. They come in khaki, brown. Blue, Black and Green. The only drawback is the price. They are $70 a pair.
I have to raise a serious concern about non-jeans trousers and I wish for feedback if you can relate.(?!) 🔥 The primary reason I wear jeans all the time, (outdoor) since every other trousers have useless-bad stlye of pocket! and I have much increased chance of drop things from it. Like that I have lost keys, and dropped and broke a phone, and my phone all the time falls to the floor of my car if I am in shorts or almost anything else than Jeans. Material doesnt matter just the style of pocket and usually only jeans has jeans-stlye pockets. Practically everything else is bellow usefull or safe for me.
I love jeans and I don't compromise on spending money on it there is no alternative for excellent quality jeans with the the correct for in Clark, straight or boot cut you will look amazing and masculine
Me who has some material sensitivity issues and jeans are one of the main things I feel comfortable is... I was about to throw hands. But yes, totally reasonable and I accept you have a good point haha
Been wearing dress pants for the last 20 years The material is a lot more flexible, air gets through the material better, and they usually are cheaper than a good pair of jeans I also wear loose yoga pants , theyr like joggers but made with a t-shirt like material, theyr the best when it gets warm
Ok. I'm not some clothes hose fashioning like this dude, but seriously this is absolutely best advice. I learned this working in theater in high-school. Costumers taught me everything I know about colors and clothes. This is everything and man needs to know to succeed on this front.
