When i turned 16 i always wanted a chain or necklace because a lot of people in my school wears chains, the most popular chain i seen almost everyone wear is a silver cuban link or curb link. I told my Dad i wanted a chain for my birthday because the current necklace i have is turning my neck green, when my birthday came up my dad bought a silver chain with a cross and said "I worked hard to get you this, Happy Birthday my Son." I am currently 21 years old rn and still wearing it rn, i love this chain because it was something everyone didn't have, since it had a religous cross pendant i mostly wore it under my shirt but people still notice them and complimented it. A lot of my classmates and some family members always wanted my chain because they said it was unique and mysterious since i always wore it in my shirt. Thank you to my Dad for getting me what i always wanted, and Thank you for this video sir💯❤️
I bought one cross from James Avery from your local Dillard's and it's pretty interesting looking if i say so myself. But yeah that sounds cool. I bought mine with my money. Tired of steel and fake silvers. Sterling silver is about the lowest id go. And the coolest chain my dad bought me is from John Hardy.
I wear a Sterling Silver 32.5 rope chain with Dragon Claw pendant with an amethyst stone held in between the claws and Sterling silver turquoise inlay ring on my left index finger.
Jewelry is not my thing. For me, my watch and wedding ring are as far as I go. Some guys totally rock the style, but it's too fashion or style forward for me.
I have read that, during the French Revaluation, nobility who had relatives guillotined would wear a red ribbon tight around their neck at dances as a reminder to all that they had lost someone.
How does one wear a Christian cross as a sign of identity and belonging if you are not Christian? In this case it is neither identity nor belonging, rather reducing the cross to a mere fashion accessory 😕.
As a Catholic I used to get annoyed seeing people wearing rosaries as fashion jewelry. Until I was complaining to my father about it and he quietly asked when the last time I prayed my own rosary was.
This shouldn't be a problem... In my family everyone has a different kind of Christian believe ( Baptists, Catholics, Protestantism, Pentecostal, Anglicism). So one day my aunt gave to everyone rosaries as a gift ...no worries
Im a 43 year old almost full blooded Sicilian. ive been wearing a small to medium size 22" Figaro necklace with a crucifix for 3/4 of my life. It just what we do
As a Pendant of Religion belive i wear sometimes the Hammer of Thor IT is a Part of paganism but to be honest i wear IT because i like it Greetings from germany
Here's one tip, I think you haven't mentioned. Filming yourself for RU-vid gives you the ability to critically analyses what you look like. It also provides a strong incentive for improvement. It's different from looking in a mirror. It kind of becomes a technical issue.
I believe the old saying, "Less is more" applies here. When I was in my mid thirties, and working as a bartender, I wore a simple gold chain. Thirty some years later, no necklaces, no earrings, no tattoos, or hair pieces. 🙂 My everyday wear consists of a decent watch, and a silver or black Sabona bracelet. A lot of this depends on where you live, the company you keep, and not trying to compensate for anything. For the guys who can do it, I say "more power to you, and enjoy"! Thanks Antonio!
I occasionally wear a thin black Cuban link and a thicker silver viking chain, both of which I've adjusted to roughly princess length. Barely visible with my button down shirt open to the third button, but subtly noticeable. Complimentary to my plain black and silver rings. As a fellow veteran, I've been wanting one of your challenge coins for a while, I hope you see this comment and are feeling generous. lol Thanks for all of your advice, Antonio!
I often wear necklaces, two in fact one is a chain with memento mori in honour of a friend that ended his own life and a St Christopher necklace in silver that both of my brothers have too based on one our dad wore
I've had this 22 inch whitegold chain with a cross pendant that I've worn for almost 10 years. The spring on the lock always gets broken. So I'm thinking of switching to a thick 24+ inch silver chain, so I can just pass it right through my head. I've been searching for one with cuban chain or has a unique chain. Maybe I'll also try a princess lenght with thinner curved chain for everyday style. Silver looks well with black clothes and depending on the chain and length can look good with casual and formal attire. I'm also searching for a cross with a unique design.
My father always said, Don't mind what everybody else wears, you can wear anything you want, under 2 conditions 1 It suits you 2 everything comes together smartly
I wear a carved obsidian raven/crow head symbolizing intelligence, introspection and foresight which was instilled in me by my father who was a big fan of the movie The Crow when i was 7 when the sounds of crows calmed my anxieties in the mornings before school. It’s sat on different chords and chains over the years but my chains have been upgraded every year.
I don’t feel fully dressed if I don’t have something around my neck. Ties, beads or bolo. I don’t usually wear a chain, but if I do, it’s got a pendant.
I have an Anchor pendant that my wife gave me once I discharged after 26 years Navy Service. It started out as a bracelet but once the leather broke I made it a necklace.
3 pendents, a crucifix, messianic seal and a khachkar . They are about symbols about my personal faith and the way of my life. I was raised catholic and feel a deep connection with that background, but I'm not practicing catholic anymore. I see myself as a follower of the way.
I wear a necklace everytime I leave the house. It's my class tag. It's like a dog tag but for college. It includes everything into a tag rather than a ring.
Question: with a shirt like yours in this video, button down with a collar, and you have a chain you want to be seen, could/would you wear it outside the shirt, maybe under the collar so the chain is hanging onto your chest, or only around your neck inside the collar and hanging out? Does that question make sense?
I almost always have something on my neck. Either the cross from my confirmation or when im working my wedding band worn on a chain. Or if I am going out with an open collar I wear a heavy silver Torc that I commissioned to commemorate the start of my business.
😲 GOOD ADVICE!….For most of my life, outside of a wristwatch or tie clip, I wasn’t much of a jewelry person. I didn’t even buy and wear a class ring after my high school and college graduations. Besides that, I had an old pendant that I occasionally wore for casual dress occasions but that was all. Being from The Boomer Generation, I will admit that gender identity played a large part in that perception. Nowadays, it seems that ‘ all the rules are broken ’ regarding who can wear various types of fashion and jewelry. For better or worse, modern society has continually become less formal regarding dressing for most occasions. In today’s era, what used to seem like semi-casual attire often appears formal at mainstream events. That being said, I still believe in wearers making their jewelry selection(s) reflect their own character and personal style. Therefore, if you’re going to wear It then ‘ own it ‘ .
Does your jewelry have to match the color of the zipper on your jacket or the buttons. I have a million nice jackets (denim truckers, bombers, leathers of all colors, suedes of all colors). They've all been tailored. Most of them have silver colored zippers some of them have black zippers. None of them have gold zippers. My veins are green so I am told that I am supposed to wear gold jewelry. What am I to do?
When I got hired in my police department my parents gifted me a gold fogaro chain with a pendant of St. Michael. My parents also went to St. Michael’s church and got it blessed. I never go to work without it.
I wear a 9mm flat curb chain that I've had for 12 years that my mom bought me. And now I wear that same chain together with a 2.5mm box chain with a custom resin pendant that has moms ashes mixed in. RIP mom. Mom was always big on yellow gold but I've always preferred silver. Id rather deal with silver tarnish than deal with re plating rhodium on white gold.
So i sometimes wear one of three, one is a oval with the virgin mary, the second one is a cross, than the last one is more a statement piece its the cross and chain from Chrome Hearts; i forgot i got a sterling silver blacked out chain with black sapphires by a brand called Effy. And its a small charm or tag ig. Hard to describe in words 😂
Great stuff as usual Antonio. I wear a dog-tag on a beaded chain made by Road ID, which is a cyclist oriented company. In the event you crash your medical info and people you want to have called are etched on the plate per your design. They also make bracelets with the same vibe. That dog tag saved my life when one morning getting out of the shower I had a brain aneurism...a stroke where a blood vessel in your brain blows up. I was somehow able to call 911 and when the guys got there I was barely conscious and in an unbelievable amount of pain. I was able to say "my dog-tag with my medical info is in a tray on my dresser". Now I wear it every day and it does have a cool military look that I love.
On the Catholic items mentioned. Scapulars are technically not necklaces, they're an article of clothing. You have to be careful with wearing a Rosary, in many parts if the US it's a symbol of gang affiliation, and non-Catholics wearing a rosary is very much frowned upon. Catholics have very strong opinions on wearing rosaries because they're not a piece of jewelry, they're a sacramental. In general, Catholics from a European culture are more likely to say that you should never wear a rosary. Whereas Catholics from Central and South America are very much in favor as a way to keep the rosary on them and as a reminder to pray. Regardless of culture, medals depicting The Sacred Heart of Jesus, Mary, and the Saints are very popular. Most commonly you'll see the Miraculous Medal. There are also scapular medals like the 5-way medal or ones specifically worn by members of Lay Religious orders. I wear one depicting St. Dominic on the front, and the Queen of the Most Holy Rosary on the back.
I have worn 2 necklaces for years. One is a Celtic cross & the other is very personal to me. They are on separate chains. I don't always wear them in a public way and if I do exhibit in a public manner, it will the cross not my personal pendent.
You left out that wearing a chain with a pendent on it so that it creates a v shape on your chest creates an optical illusion that your body has a v shape that body builders are going for. You also should have mentioned more formal necklaces like western bolo ties. I wear necklaces on occasion when I'm dressed causally & I try to match it with my other jewelry or shoes, however, I'm going to experiment with bolo ties this year
The only necklace that I wear is a medic alert (one that doctors or emergency health care personnel can use to identify me and my medical conditions) I’ve had others over the years but none of them ever seem to suit me.
In my 20s and 30s, heck even early 40s, silver chains and simple pendants were part of my 'look'. Now, nah, not for me. Near naked, especially, in the heat, is the way to go. Great video Antonio!
I think you said you were in the Marine Corps. I guess it makes sense that you would have a fashion channel. You guys had a ton of uniforms. When I was in the Navy, I saw them hit the Marines on the smallest imperfections during inspection, too.
Nice video Antonio, thanks for pulling this out. I am accessory guy, love to wear bracelets, chains and rings. From my POV and particular taste, a chain with a pendant is much better compared to a single chain. The pendant adds uniqueness, plus, it will draw more attention vs the chain that yeah, it could be more appealing for those looking a simple style, but honestly, it looks too common nowadays.
The Single Necklace is for the Good Guys and the Multichain Necklace is for the Bad Guys. Knight of Canada Brad Pitt came up with the Necklace Styles for himself. God with Him took the Necklace Styling into the Popular Culture. Natalie Helferty Queen of Canada Hollywood Royal as Wife of the King and the Knights of Canada as Hollywood Royals with God.
The Choker for Men was Invented by King of Canada Logan Lerman in high school. God designed the other longer chains ⛓️. I invented the Dog Tag in 1975 when I was 7 years old for Military as Queen of Canada and Royal Chieftain of Indians of America Natalie Helferty Toronto Tribe Mohawk Hollywood Royal.
short haired women look really cute with simple black collar type, but seriously what kind of men look good in this, not even a choker looks good on men IMO, for years I 've been wearing simple silver byzantine chain that is about the length of a V neckline or unbutonned collar on shirt, I think that is as far I can go with necklace as a 45 yo guy, because I also wear glasses that already count as accessory on my head
I wear a penant for a fake religion if it counts! It's from the game Assassin's Creed and it's the Assassin's Brotherhood symbol. It's nerdy but I think it speaks to me and the kind of person I am. Like some nerdy people will wear openly nerdy stuff like out of place jackets and coats or weird out there accessories; I feel like I can't pull that off like I don't have the confidence. So I wear small things to remind myself of the things I love and maybe even attract conversation about something I find intresting. Likke my necklace a lot of people have asked what religion is that and then I explain to them that it's from a video game and usually that's a great convo starter!
I work construction. What clothes do you suggest I wear? Work I do would never be able to wear a suit, but I would like to look nice and presentable for my customers and sub contractors.
I usually wear a thin silver or stainless steel necklace, with a pendant on it. I have a gold one but i dont like how gold looks on me. I think thick necklaces look cheap and idiotic and make a man look like a wannabe.
Great video! I remember wearing a crystal set it medal on a leather necklace. It was the '80s, I was in high school. Yes, so horrible that it doesn't even qualify as a viable option today. I'll probably never mention this again....lol
I wore that bold silver chain to make a statement, but most of the time if I am wearing a necklace its my fathers gold cross or a long modern stainless cross from Vitaly (they made the thicker chain as well)
This is a good one, I've been searching the net for tips on wearing the right length of silver/gold jewelry. They say when you go for thicker chain it will have a narrower fit, compared to a thinner chain with the same length. 😊
I'm a practicing Christian (Roman Catholic) so I wear a crucifix. I believe religious adherents should wear a necklace relevant to their religious beliefs because religion is a central identity to a person and makes it all the more valid and confident to wear.
Imagine having the name “Guarneschelli” as an 18 year old in high school when that show blew up in popularity… haha. I resented that show so badly, knowing every time it came up during school that people were thinking of me 🙄… 😭
In my culture people with more refined taste do not wear necklaces but at school a lot of kids do. One of my kids wanted one and I really do not want him to do that because in my opinion there a lot of males who look like pimps with them. I don’t want my kid to look like that. He insists in having one because it’s the fashion he says. A simple ring it’s ok but I don’t want him to do more than that.
I cant believe you guys identify as real men in the first place! Now I was nice, didn't violate your im going to cry standards, and if they ban me from posting ,..good! I win!
I disagree. I am an adult man from the United States midwest. Jewelry is for women. (and I don't think it makes them more attractive either. I never thought anyone was more or less attractive based on some pieces of jewelry) Just try to be a decent person. Wear what makes you comfortable. I grew up on a farm in a small town and played sports. For me, wearing jewelry would be as cool as wearing a pink dress. If your value system says you are cooler because you have diamond bracelets and rings and chains... then I feel bad for your value system. Your value system should consider valuing things that actually have value to you, your life, and your loved ones.
Antonio, one religious medallion you left out that is excessively (almost overly) important to me is the Miraculous Medallion showing Mary. Catholicism teaches that anyone wearing this at death is given a 'free pass' into heaven.
