The funny part: I’ve looked through a good chunk of the comments, and it looks like no one knew that this incident actually happened. Look it up “What is the movie Unstoppable weed off of”. AWVR 777 actually happened and was actually stopped by the radioman for 1206, injured, held the brakes whilst the engineer climbed all the way to the lumber cars, where the radioman was picked up and taken via truck to the engine up front where he stopped the train
yeah, it did truly happen, for a little extension the incident is called "Crazy Eights" following along with the locomotives number, 8888, they actually stopped it like in the movie, they hooked a train to the back, and slowed it down until someone jumped on and applied the brake!
Even thought the AWVR 1206 in this video is more like an SD38 rather than SD40-2 beacuse on the top is only have 4 fans rather than 5 but hey great video
Ahh man the nostolgia. I remember the good old Unstoppable, we just need like the part in the movie that the train makes a sharp bend and 1206 using the independent brake because the main brake is gone and exploded because previously tried to slow it down
The main break is the independent. They were braking via the dynamic break which. Is why is blew. It turns the engine and electric traction motors into generators creating a lot of resistance but also buts strain on the engine which is why it's not usually used at high speed. In the real incident they used the independent and dynamic slowed it down to 11 or 12 miles an hours, got an operator to hop on and shut CSX 8888 down completely. When they inspected her her break shoes where completely worn out
next save 4 npc from a death train if you can do it with no problem its will be an excellent and amazing shelling in storm works ever done and 1 for 1 ever body have he's chins
