training.uplat... this video by Uplatz, you will learn about Storage Unit and Storage Unit Management in SAP WM (Warehouse Management) module. This tutorial will help your journey towards becoming an SAP WM consultant.
In SAP Warehouse Management (WM), storage unit management (SUM) is a functionality that allows you to manage individual storage units (SU) within the warehouse. A storage unit is a physical container that holds one or more materials, and it can be a pallet, a container, or any other transport unit.
Storage Unit Management, or SUM is a concept designed and developed by SAP, especially for the Warehouse Management (WM) to track and identify the containers holding items as it moves around within the warehouse. This concept leads us to define storage unit, which is a logical grouping of one or several amounts of items that can be managed within a warehouse as a unit that belongs together. Each storage unit is given an unique identification number which helps in locating that exact unit and what amount of materials is contained within it inside a warehouse.
Here are some of the key features of storage unit management in SAP WM:
1. Creation of storage units: You can create storage units in SAP WM either manually or automatically when you receive goods into the warehouse.
2. Identification of storage units: Each storage unit is identified by a unique identification number, which is used to track the movement and location of the unit within the warehouse.
3. Management of storage unit contents: You can manage the contents of each storage unit, which includes the materials and their quantities.
4. Storage unit movements: You can move storage units within the warehouse, including picking, putaway, and transfer of storage units between storage locations.
5. Reporting: Storage unit management in SAP WM allows you to generate reports that show the status of each storage unit, including its location, contents, and history of movements.
By using storage unit management in SAP WM, you can improve the efficiency of your warehouse operations, reduce errors, and provide better visibility into your inventory levels.

Hello , What is the basic difference between Quant and SU?
@Uplatz
@Uplatz 4 месяца назад
A quant represents the smallest storable unit of a material in a warehouse. Quants are used to manage the physical inventory in the warehouse, representing the actual stock of materials. Quants contain information such as material number, quantity, batch, storage location, and status. Quants are created when goods are received into the warehouse and are removed when goods are issued. They are used for inventory management, picking, and putaway processes. Storage Unit (SU): A storage unit is a logical grouping of materials for storage and transportation purposes. SUs can contain one or more quants of the same or different materials. They are used to simplify the handling of materials during putaway, picking, and internal movements. SUs can be pallets, containers, boxes, or any other type of storage equipment. They provide a convenient way to manage and track groups of materials in the warehouse. In summary, while quants represent the actual stock of materials in the warehouse at a granular level, storage units provide a higher-level grouping of materials for handling and logistical purposes. Quants are managed at the inventory level, whereas SUs are managed at the storage and transportation level.
