Thank you for another great video. I love your system. We ditched our plastic plates and bowls for stainless steel or titanium plates and bowls just because they clean so much easier. Yes call me lazy but metal is just easier. We feel your pain with the center console. Well in the newer Sienna ours doesn't remove as easily as the 2006... The 2017 gets better gas milage and is more dependable though. I love the aesthetics of the Honda though. Thank you for another great video. Safe travels.

I agree with the other commentor, tear out the center console, we want to see what you come up with and listen to your wonderful presentation of how you did it! I'm watching a second time to this, I'm getting some better ideas for my 4runner that I just had to use off season because of a huge fire here in Northern California and evacuations.

Hi Leslie! I love your channel! You just tell it like it is and that’s so refreshing. My husband and I are looking at vans, bumper pull trailers and RV’s. Eventually, we will find the right one that fits our family and our budget. Mainly it will be for just the two of us as our boys are grown. But it would be nice to have something big enough for them to tag along once in a while. I think so anyways. Thanks for the video! You’re the best! ❤️💜💚

Wow, Leslie..... I think you are the very first person I have ever seen put a motion activated light in your storage well! I think that is one of the most clever things yet! Yes, others have had straps to hold their bed up, but nope.... no light! I luv it! And since you're so honest about NOT ever making your bed, LOL, would you answer this question for me?.... Do you feel you run into cold &/or rainy weather enough where it's not all that wonderful trying to cook etc. outside & therefore would find it convenient to have an SUV tent (which works on minivans, also) in which to change, shower, and cook etc.? What's your honest opinion? Myself, I can't imagine having to be outside in inclement weather trying to cook & eat. (I'm a real cold bones!) And when you're boondocking, I can't imagine trying to change clothes inside a van either. Since a canopy really wouldn't do much in bad weather, I think I'd opt for a screen house or something like an SUV tent since it slips over the hatch at the back and you can go right into it from the van without having to access the outside. Yes, it would take 10 min. or so to set up, but if people are staying in one spot for the 14 days allowed, to me it would be most convenient to have a tent like that. And the nice thing is, the van hatch CAN still be closed at night for safety & privacy without removing the tent. What's your thoughts on all that? Great video as always.... You're very organized even tho' you don't make your bed! Naughty, naughty! LOL
@TheVanThatGotAway
@TheVanThatGotAway 2 года назад
Hi Pat, Thanks for the compliment 😃 I just love that light, goshdarnit. Regarding an S UV tent, I really thought we were definitely going to need that before we started. And I looked around but never pulled the trigger on one. So we went out on the road without one. I definitely think I'd like to add one at some point but don't really feel it's totally necessary. If there's a rare time when the weather is just too bad to cook, we'll have some cheese and crackers and call it a day.🤣Thanks for asking!

Add a link to your build in a little box above when you mention it at 5:55 or in the description. Great storage solutions, well detailed. TAKE OUT THE CENTER CONSOLE! I would love to see your design to replace it and will probably copy it! My latest a cast iron Dutch oven that you can cook with over a campfire or on the single burner stove. The lid can be used as a frying pan so it it does double duty. 🌿

I always like to have a form of paper map to confirm that the GPS is sending me in the right direction. They are also good for planning since a good cell/internet signal is not always available. Also, we do to have any "unlimited" use plans. Your knack for storage tips and organization is amazing. When you leave home, what is the longest you have done before returning even for a day? Thanks for sharing!

Hi MJ! We did 3 1/2 months before there was a little gap between B&B guests. We took advantage of the gap to pop in and go nuts on all kinds of little repairs. Then another 3 1/2 months out on the road. We would have kept going but the dreaded roadwork was about to start so we stopped renting out the house. Next year, MUCH longer adventures!😃😄

Whoa….. what about a sewing kit?! Also, does one have to be worried about the butane on the roof over heating? Seems the sun beating on it during the day while driving would be dangerous too.
@TheVanThatGotAway
@TheVanThatGotAway 2 года назад
LOL, Janis! I just had the sewing kit in my hand while packing and thought, "Just throw it in there.. who knows!" 🤣 We wrap the butane in pockets of reflectix so they're insulated and padded. No issues yet. Thanks for asking!

What backpacks are you using on the roof? Are they watertight?
@TheVanThatGotAway
@TheVanThatGotAway 2 года назад
Hey Craig, No the backpacks aren't waterproof, but we wrap the butane in pockets of reflective material so they're protected.. And the dirty laundry, we really don't care if it gets wet. We usually just pick up backpacks at the thrift store! They're always available and you can get high quality if you keep looking.😀😂

Hello Leslie I love your videos!! I don’t car camp but I am seriously considering it. I also live in Florida, south Florida to be exact. I would be a solo female camper and limited to the weekends only (not retired yet). So that means I would stay within the state. Do you have locations you could recommend? I will be taking my dog as well. Thank you!
@TheVanThatGotAway
@TheVanThatGotAway 2 года назад
Hi Janine, Glad you asked! Paynes Parairie Preserve is awesome and it's right along 75. Ft. Clinch State Park is a little bit of a drive - to Amelia Island - but its right up 95. We've camped at both and LOVED 'em. We visited Lake Wales in Polk County and and also Myakka state park for a day trip but never camped in either of those locations. However, it might be worth checking out because they are so much fun and would make a great weekend trip. Let me know what you think and where you decide to check out! What kind of car are you using for your camping?
