Looks like it was choreographed for sure, nice though. Just think only 9 years later their lives would forever, tragically change during WW2. I do believe the HESP building in the video was a holding place for Jews that were on their way to concentration camps😢
1:18 Another example of lady talking on a cellphone in distant past? The lady walking out of the store appears to be chatting away holding something to hear ear. I know its most likely something else but this is famously seen in other early 1920s footage- I suspect is explainable but I can't think of a satisfactory explanation for the gesture. I have heard that there was a brief period when mini-radios were used for communication across town (more like walkie talkie) but this trend ended pretty fast because the mini radios interfered with other peoples radios whenever they passed by. I suspect there is a mundane answer but fun to speculate.
the good old days before the moroccans turks surinamese indonesians took over amsterdam no racism expressed here just stating facts just stating an observation
I live nearby this street. When I discovered this video, I initially thought: ...such beautiful historical images... but I soon realized that some shops were owned by Jewish people, and I wanted to know what happened to them. I found out that the family that owned the bakery (the Cohen family) and the family that owned the hat shop: Maison Rosa, among others, were murdered by the Nazis. These beautiful, decent and skilled people who were significant in society were targeted by the Nazis and murdered. Many Jewish people lived in this street and they will undoubtedly be seen in this video. This knowledge makes it painful to watch these images.
You mustn't focus on the dark parts of life. Every positive has a negative that soon follows. It's the balanced way of life. These beautiful people didn't know the horrors to come, just like we right now don't understand why it happened. You should be happy they lived, and you get to live in a better time. Make the most of life.. for them. ❤🎉😊
@@IAmMrRoss I agree to some extent but..... Just think of all of the advanced technology the white 🎩's haven't exposed to mankind. This tech they have is generations ahead of what we are told.
@@midaiartwork did you see the woman in the b****** coming out of Jacob stores and it looks like that she's talking on a cell phone play it back slow motion
I love this channel and the contents. However let's place a camera at Walmart and record the people going in and out of there. I wonder how the future people 100 years from now will view the people of today?
We’re in the end of the end times! This world doesn’t have another hundred years! Biblical prophetic events are already taking place in fulfillment of bible prophecy and the beginning of the Great Tribulation written of in Revelation chapter 6-18
@@stevencohn922 Steve lad.. It has been the end times since before i was even born.. I am in my 60's. If your jesus was ever going to show up. He would have been now. Personally i think that waiting on somebody to show up and fix things is stupid. We as a race can either get to a point where we become rational and able to correct the things that happen in the world. Or we can jolly well go extinct. At the moment it look like extinction is very much on the table. That is if we do not get real about climate change. Hoping on some dead guy to show up, who has been dead for better than 2000 years, is no answer at all.
God. Western hemisphere. Hats. Suits. Socially harmonic societies, like a big family. Classic women. Graciousness. Tenderness. Gentlemen. Virtues. Strength. Weakness. Music. Transcendental architecture. Art. Beauty... God. love. faith. Prayer. Purpose...
‘Socially harmonic societies’ and ‘like a big family’ - apart from the 20 million deaths in the first world war not long before this footage was taken and 75 million more a couple of years after. Although i do know what you mean, despite all that people dressed smart and seemed to have more self respect.
@@iamme788 21 years of gap, and not only those deaths were caused by a minority compared to the totality of the western common citizens, it's not an impossibility to be even under a brutal war and still be a harmonic society, like a big family. It does not imply perfection or perfect peace; it implies greater trust, unity and better treatment in general; respect, virtues... The fact is that society got morally worse and that helped a lot of other things to deteriorate at the same time as many other things got incredibly better, like the treatment of diseases; it's not just self-respect. Today we have more knowledge of what moral excellence is, but we don't really do everything to be closer to it as possible. But in the past we tried way harder to follow what we had then discovered as morally excellent. The standard is clearer than ever today, but that means nothing if we don't follow it. In fact we've been indoctrinated to blur them and that's capturing a huge portion of the normal citizens of western hemisphere, not just a small group of far-left intelectuals or leaders. The idea that every generation complains about the next is true, but it's true because we're getting worse while getting better technologically. There was a lot to be discovered in the past about morality, but we followed most of what we could as a fallen species. I firmly believe the moral peak of the western hemisphere was hit a long time ago, now it's downfall(not even only morality, I even think other areas too like art, even though we can still find great things being done today). But we don't have to accept that passively. There's a way to fight back and that way is in individually being what we want the world to be while influencing more people with that, igniting the love for God, for family, igniting the unconditional love for human beings and the love for the classical things that need to be preserved or brought back, or changing what's old for something new that works because it is classic, eternal in society.

Interesting watching this thinking about how the Nazis were about to unleash horrible things on Holland. I kept thinking of Corrie Ten Boom and her family, running a watch shop at this time who would be sent to concentration camps for sheltering Jews.
I watched it in SLO Mo ten times and yes the lady coming out definitely has a black device of some sort up to her right ear and her mouth is moving... she's talking. What the deuce!!???😮
I disagree, but get it...close ups on anyone can be scary😂. But the entire effect...and that we can view these a century later...is pure gold, imho.😊☺⏳⌛⏳⌛⏳⌛⏳⌛⏳⌛❤❤
I unsubscribed when I realized you totally ignored indigenous people, latinos and those of color. Many were noteworthy but like history here in the US there lives were given short shrift and in comparison to whyte people their accomplishments are overlooked. Besides you don't need my subscription andI certainly don't need you!
Though at first we might recognize it as such, that was likely a hearing aid. Besides, you can't tell if what she's holding actually is a telephone, it could be a small radio, or anything else. Also, if you compare this to other (non-colorized) old footage from that time, you'd recognize that this clearly is from that time. Amsterdam does not currently look like that in the year 2024 anymore. I am Dutch, live in the Netherlands, and can also tell you that the text on the storefronts and signs is (by now) outdated Dutch that they used at the time (for example doubling letters in words like "Afdeeling" and "Goedkoope" whereas we nowadays say "Afdeling" and "Goedkope"), small detail, but this alone already proves that this is not in the current day. Lastly, for example, current day Dutch police don't ride on horseback wearing capes (I wish lol), you should come visit and see for yourself, you can even see some remaining storefronts from this time in certain cities! :)
@@Vanessa-ml9df yes i agree by holding something by her ear like that it gives a person the impression that its a mobile but it cant be since mobiles only came about in the last few decades not that long ago
You wanna trip out? Lay in the dark, play the video at half speed with volume up. Then zoom into the video on the people's faces. Take a good look at them and realize that every smiling face you see, no longer exists. With the sound slowed down it's like a sad horror show.
