I am from Uzbekistan. In Uzbekistan has so many beautiful places. If you wish to come to Uzbekistan, you can see how old folks lived in Bukhara, Khiva and Shakhrisabz. Thank to our community they saved so many manumentes which can describe old Uzbekistan

Old Russian people are conservatives because a lot of them lived in the Stalinist era, and for them their experience during that period are what they remember their childhood to be like/how they were raised. Lots of people in Russia today definitely do not support Stalin, and he’s seen as a tyrannical figure. Please read about the de-stalinization era in Russia after his death.

Adam, thanks for taking time to come and visit Mr. Aron’s museum - he’s a true treasure! It’s a big unfortunate that we no longer have the same vibrant population and culture of Bukharian Jews here in the old city anymore. There used to be three synagogues, but two functioning at the moment and are providing service to around a couple hundred living Jews in Bukhara. The synagogues follow the same traditions by closing for Shabbat. There’s one Jewish cemetery just outside the old city and Mr. Aron is right - local Uzbeks and Tajiks look after this place keeping it clean and presentable. But make no mistake, Bukharian Jews didn’t live only in Bukhara, a vast majority lived in another great city of Samarkand too. The reason they were called Bukharian is because they were Jews living in Bukhara Emirate / Khanate which is now a part of independent Uzbekistan.
We Soviet Jews are all Khazars. No reason to say Jews from here or there. All of us are from the Khazarian Turkic nomadic khaganate that converted to Judaism 1000 years ago. Still we divide ourselves.
One has to understand that Islam in Central Asia is very different from the one that’s exported now from Saudi Arabia. Also, Central Asia has a huge culture of hospitality
@@Neno908this is a wrong claim made by pan islamists. Not all muslims think alike, nor do they follow their religion in the same manner. There are important differences. Muslims in Iran or Tajikistan do not have the same beliefs as muslims in more radical countries like Pakistan or saudi arabia. I am saying this as an Iranian who has been to other muslim countries and seen and spoke to muslims in other countries. Even if we ignore the sunni-shia division, Islam is practiced differently in Arab countries compared to Iran and other Persian speaking countries (except afghanistan since unfortunately it has become radical there as well) and most Turkic countries. For instance, even the most radical Iranian muslim will never claim that music is haram, or that dancing is haram, or that a woman singing is haram (note that I am talking about muslim PEOPLE and not the government). We have famous female singers and musicians that are enjoyed by muslims and non muslims alike. I was very surprised when I spoke to Arab friends and they told me they consider those things as haram. Those are just a few differences but there are many many more (e.g. female dresses, depictions of the prophets, preservation of pre islamic beliefs, cultures and traditions, etc…). As much as some muslims would like it to be so, muslims are not a monolith .

By the way in my whole life I did not experience or hear any problem between Uzbek and jews or any other nations. I live in Tashkent and there also a lot of jews. Most people think they are russian but when you ask their ethnicity they say are jew proudly and everything is fine. If jews in Israel were just like in Uzbekistan, there wouldn't be any war. I always knew I had Russian Jewish ancestry but when I had DNA test it showed that I had some bukaran Jewish roots most likely from Uzbek I was shocked
I came here from a popped up short. Thank you for this video. Most of the ancestors on my mother side were atheist during the communist era in Russia. But they were Jews and always remembered about it. I wish all the best and long life for Aron!
Fun fact : Bukhara Jews are Sephardic because of a missionary from Tetuan, Morocco named Rabbi Yosef Maimon who travelled there and demanded they adopt the Sephardic traditions when he found the community in utter ignorance and following the Persian religious traditions.

My great great grandfather was the president of the Jewish community in Bukhara, Simkha Mosheyof was his name, he and his family immigrated to the land of Israel in about 1870 and established the Bukharian neighborhood in Jerusalem with other rich families at the time. They built the Mosheyof estate in the neighborhood, a huge estate which was later divided and used for different purposes and is no longer known as the Mosheyof Estate. I’m so sorry I won’t be able to visit the places he lived in, unless Islam leaves this country, then I will be able to visit. Everything was ruined.
