I'm a big fan of the Numskull Gaming Lockers which hold ten games up to four controllers and a headset. As I usually only keep out around ten physical games per platform these cool looking, themed accessories are perfect for my Game Nook (TM). I also have a couple of old school branded game racks which hold my larger PS2 and Wii games. All my other games are typically stored away in Really Useful Boxes. Part of my DVD/VHS Collection are on display on a couple of shelves for easy browsing and these are mostly my semi-retro movies from the late 70s/early 80s which fit in with my gaming space theme. I tend to rotate my games every couple of months and on occasion, switch out my movies but pretty much everything that's taking up space in my Nook, will be played/watched over a period of maybe six months and if not, then it's destination storage for the offending items :-) Keep up the awesome work PK!
In 2012 I lost my house due to a house fire, and game collection too. So you never know. I got most of what I wanted back now. I like both ways to store games.
@PKInTheUniverse Also I had house insurance so they let me get 5 bucks per game. I had 1000 games so it's okay. Also this was the day after Xmas and no one died so that was the import thing.
As long as you can find your games and it is not a complete mess, then organize it however you want. Most of my games are in a spare bedroom on the second floor and only a small amount of my games are actually on shelves, mostly the disc-based games. My basement is not an ideal place for my games and is used for other purposes. The worst thing to happen to my game room so far was a leaky ceiling caused by an issue with the roof.
Sometimes the cats get into the games, their favorites are the Super Nintendo and the Sega Genesis. I might need to make a bomb-proof game room in case if my game room gets nuked.
Mostly storing them on shelves. I like to be able to go and look at the shelf and pull a game and play it. Correct, there is no 100% safe game room. If there was it would probably have to be inaccessible.
Nice solid shelves PK! It can look cool to have some of your fav games or ones your currently playing actually facing outward so they are up against the spins of the others, You're get to see cool artwork on the shelf and it only takes seconds to move them to see the spins behind. Your most definitely start doing it when space starts to run out! 😉 I'm mostly glass door shelves and have much of it in re-sealable plastic sleeves to keep du$t and other nasties off them, I smoke. We only smoke in the kitchen but that brown still gets around the rest of the home. Glass doors and plastic sleeves do the job for me.
Yeah, it’s a nice set up. I used to smoke back in the day. Kind of glad I don’t now because yeah, as you said that stuff can get into the air pretty easily even if it’s not directly in the same room.
Hey - Topic for you to do a video on. You're a new youtuber and this unconventional topic made me think of another topic to help people who collect: Buying: Places to buy, what to look for, how much does condition matter, how much do manuals matter? Are cheap ebay PS3 and X360 games good buys - and what to look for? Etc. I think people overspend sometimes and a buying guide might get traffic.
Mine are in bins. I pull them out when I want to play them - or rather IF I want to play them. Every few times in a year, I think I should sell a bunch of them off.
