Stork-billed kingfishers feeding on Caryota urens fruits 

The idea that some kingfishers might occasionally consume plant material is not entirely unheard of. There is no documented evidence or scholarly reference indicating that the Stork-billed Kingfisher consumes palm seeds. For example, the Blue-breasted Kingfisher in Africa has been noted to eat oil palm fruits (YC Wee 2006 reference Bird ecology study group accessed on 6th July 2024).
