You should use plastic jackets on the lambs . If you were to plant a good thick hedging around different places on the farm , even on the hill . The shelter break will give them great protection from the wind and rain .
2024 has turned into a bloody hard lambing year for you guys - as a farmers kid from New Zealand we understand what you are going through - hopefully that rain stops - a frost overnight is one thing but the rain is just a killer
You are doing an amazing job considering the weather you’re having. Everyone else have locked the doors and stayed inside in the heat while farmers don’t have a choice! And who said farmers don’t care about their livestock. Well done lads
I have no words 😶 I appreciate that with all that is going on you are still editing and uploading videos! I an in America looking up information about the storm. I’m all worried about you , that I don’t know, and sheep ,that I don’t own. Stay the course. The sun comes after the rain
I’m so so sorry for all of you farmers. My heart goes out to all of you. It’s just terrible. Please stay safe and look after your poor dad. He is amazing., as are you.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I respect all that our famers do ,as a child we had 5 milk cows to sell our milk in our corner shop ,to really understand calving midle of night ,call the vet and cesarian to happen it was magical for me getting the hot water and giving the towel ,but the worry on the faces when i look up sent messages to me ,pain can follow joy so allways respect nature .You will keep going because its your story to share and leave an imprent on the land that you stomp on ,its your poetry ,song ,short story ,not written but lived ,others only can watch on ,but you get to live it . Thank you for what you do and sharing it .🤗👋💚☘️
After seeing what you guys and many other sheep farmers in Ireland and UK have gone through this year. I now know why my grandfather and other sheep farmers in the western Isles Scotland wouldn't start lambing till the end of April, while these days they begin lambing end of March beginning of April
Fair play for putting that vlog up, tough going with the shit weather that we are having. Who would of thought after last years weather that it would be worse this year
This year and the weather has been atrocious, ive ground saturated, slurry tanks overflowing and had 6 weeks silage id booked off a man stolen. Cattle wouldn't be out here in Leitrim for another month in a normal year but it'll take 2 months to dry the ground, and that's not going to happen. If this is the future im finished
You guys sure are copping it with the weather, Glyn! Something that might help for next year is Cammy has little plastic coats for the lambs. It helps keep the warm in bad weather etc. It's not much help at the moment, but maybe look into getting a few after the craziness of this year's lambing has settled.
Welcome back and absolutely another spectacular beautiful shooting filming footage compilation documentary countryside content video and as always I really appreciate and enjoy watching your lifestyle documentary video channel and you guys nailed it again .. thanks again and happy Sunday from Montreal QC Canada
I feel your pain fellas, I had this many years ago and it was soul destroying just going around the next day picking up dead lambs, you feel like crying. Keep your peckers up all the best gaz ✊
As I watch you guys struggle with hard work, and heartbreak trying to make a living, I think of the words of W B Yeats " romantic Ireland is dead, and gone, its with O Leary in the grave". If the weather does not come good soon, a lot of farmers incomes will be with O Leary in the grave.
Weather is shocking but nothing you can do only your best. A stiff drink helps too I suppose!! Did you ever see the plastic covers to put on lambs? You could put them on when you are marking them. Keeps the rain off them. Which is most likely the killer. Once it gets to the skin it pulls the heat out of them and they are a gonner. Bit more work but probably worth it if it saves lambs. I’m sure you are watching Cammy at the moment, he is using them.
Fierce work all on this farm just been on a farm holiday cottage in Wexford with Kathleen blowing in …wild weather hope government gives you some support after this winter
I feel for ye and for all the sheep and lambs. My heart is with ye. We gave up the lambing good few years ago, except to help a neighbour. Never again lamb for ourselves. You couldn't make money anymore, and its just not fair to the animals. I really hope and pray the weather improves now.
You will have to build an post lambing shed to hold them in for a month like Canada etc Or maybe have later lambing season to combat shit weather Hope the weather improves for the next few days ❤
John and Glyn, YIKES!! My heart goes out to you both ..! I am praying 🙏🏻 for some needed SUN, and SOON! With all you have going on Glyn, and you are still videoing and editing! You are a good man Glyn! You are too, John!! Hopefully your holy water helps your sheep/lambs. It usually does help!! 🙏🏻
Please try and get some Lammacs, they just may make the difference between life and death. I had you in my thoughts when the storm hit, you took the brunt of it.If you are feeding cake, you could dispense with the troughs in the bulking up areas and just scatter it on the ground. It worked well for me, also gave the ewes a bit of occupational therapy looking for more, it was never wasted.
Tough lambing there , did yous ever try the plastic coats for lambs , it will keep the rain of their back , we used to use them as a fox deterant . Hope the weather picks up for you , we are also stuck with sheds packed with lambs .
It’s a tough year for us all, hope the weather changes and you can get a load out….dont know what the knock on effect will be this coming year but more hardship no doubt. Good luck boys
It's tough going at the best of times but weather like that is heart breaking but chin up guys it will improve the spring of 2018 was heartbreaking here but we survived and so will you
just heard weather forecast lds they say 20mil off rain promised coming week like yer selfs we are running out off space for ewes dropping and cows just started as well ye show the good with the bad
Awful going worse the thing is getting and the government wouldn't care if the they where any farmers in the country. They'd rather see every acre planted
Ive many times is bad wether had to use all my walk ways and allies to keep everything inside during -45 with wind and snow storms. Only ever lost 2 calves out of over 150 a year cuz 1 got stepped on and 1 layed on.
I realize it's near impossible to catch all the lambs in that weather but if you can put Lamb Macs on those you are putting out of the barn at least it will give them a fighting chance against the wind and rain. Praying that you'll get a break in the weather soon. Appreciate you've taken time to vlog, it's just incredible what you are up against weather wise. Keep strong!
Do you have, or would you be open to, posting an Amazon wishlist for your farm? Or do you have a membership I could join? Or both? Just a way for us viewers to feel like we’re a part of something we’ve grown to care about. 💗
You might end up lambing in May while some in other parts are lambing in February. The weather is only going to get worse I'm afraid. Let's hope this is the last bad storm for now.
Hi im lambing out doors myself in the middle of this bad weather and now I no what hell is like conditions are very bad the worst I’ve ever seen. So every lamb that’s born I put a lamb cover on them, so your situation putting lambs out of shed u should put a cover on them it will save lambs from win chill. I’ve been lambing myself for 10days now at 70 lambs a day so far and have been putting covers on them all and most live. Tough work trying to keep morale high (glen keogh)
you certainly are hard workers and it is very difficult at the moment, and i cannot believe how hard your father works. You would be lost without him, where would you get anyone to do all that work in that weather. All i can do is wish you you well and don't give up, better days will come as they always do. The holy water for protection is important and in fairness wouldn't you want the bit of faith, its no load. Take care of yourselves and good luck.
Thats fu××ing rough going Glyn lambing them alive and the weather killing them you're doing the best that you can do Only for the shed's you have it would be a disaster altogether You're doing an amazing job in the worst weather conditions that i can remember All we can hope for is theirs better days to come wishing you and you're Dad the best for the rest of lambing Really enjoyed the video as always looking forward to the next one
While a big big squeeze you've a large slace there in the middle for you to work in the shed and feed up but in an emergency why not let them in there till the storm passes
You smart arse. Farmers produce food and deserve more supports during hard times. Those NGOs and ill legal migrants should not be getting tax payers money.
@@AbcdEfgh-zp1snNGOs and ill legal migrants do no deserve tax pays money. As for you comparing business to food production you haven't a clue. Go away with your smart arse comments.
Well said they shouldn't be its a disgrace in out own country what's going on .. we wouldn't get it in there country doe sure...thats shocking all the poor lambs an sheep in thar horrible weather...the government don't care about farmers an the hardship the are going through
What you recommend is like the hedgehog curling up in the middle of the road. The lads are doing what they can and whilst its not nice to see what they are coping with I love seeing the drive to keep pushing to minimise the damage
Take few hours would be great , but that's like telling your wife , could you hold from giving birth till I go down the pub to watch the game .Animal welfare comes first , to assist, relieve pain against all the odds too feed the world and make a hard earned living.
