Winds of 70mph left planes swaying in the skies above London as pilots attempted to land during Storm Noa.
The cult RU-vid aviation channel Big Jet TV was there to capture all the spills and skills necessary to land passenger jets in the howling crosswinds.

As a retired 747 pilot landing in crosswinds, heavy rain, fog and snow was very challenging and for me but it was the best part of my career 👍🏿

What people don't see is the dedicated team of air traffic controllers that keep the airspace safe even in challenging circumstances like this. At one point the Bovingdon stack was closed due to the storm passing through, and the controllers had to re-route traffic to different stacks. The pilots are in charge of 1 plane, whereas controllers can have the responsibility of up to 20 aircraft at one time! Massive respect to the controllers and pilots!

I flew from terminal 5 to Edinburgh on 1415 flight, delayed due to that weather, eventually took off about 1500. Easily the worst flight I've ever done. Sat there as we took off, feeling the plane swing and all that went through my head was " I wish I took the train!". The skill of the pilots and crew are second to none.

As someone whose only ever experienced 1 go around while in a plane and countless on Flight Simulator, these pilots shows remarkable control and skill, Especially the crew flying the Big Bus A380!

I was in one of those flights yesterday, trying to land in London City, OMG it was terrifying for me 😅 The pilot came talking to me after we landed to explain everything about how it works in such cases, and it is especially difficult in LCY as it's a very short runway surrounded by water and only small planes can land there, so it's shaking even more 😢 but it is perfectly safe, just scary!

Sitting in my friends car yesterday we thought we was seeing things seeing a plan fly past us in Cardiff it was so low it freaked us out, it didn't go any higher it didn't look like it was even heading for Cardiff air port it just disappeared, then a helicopter was flying in the same direction😮 I hope everyone was safe 🙏

I was sat on BA0766 at T3 from 13:00 - 15:15… all departures in that time were stopped…. Took off 2 and 1/2 hours late and it was a little hairy to say the least !!! Plane went sideways 3/4 down the runway during take off 😱💩
