Davis rd is closed almost every normal rainy season. It's funny to hear that guy say it hadn't seen it for 20 years.

Many people are unaware that the Salinas River also runs underground. It has often been referred to as the " underground river" in literature.

The initial forecast was that the river would crest at 30 feet, the the levy broke upstream and reduced the threat. If the 24.5 foot prediction is accurate none of road closures will occur.

At some point, Homo sapiens are going to have to retreat from floodplains and former wetlands and shorelines. Once we understand the water cycle and how it works once again, hopefully will act accordingly to restore natural systems and keep ourselves safe

It's crazy what one rainy month can do in California. They are not prepared for anything. Nothing has changed since the last time it happened.

Also this is similar to what happened during Hurricane Ian. Rivers in the Orlando area continued to rise for several days after the historic rain from Ian.

@@vice.nor.virtue Right.👍 But in the past, the effect of fossil fuel consumption will be earth destruction thru 'acid rain'. When nothing happened after about a decade, environmentalists changed 'acid rain' to 'Global Warming'. They added 'Ozone depletion' that would then cause the burning the earth with UV rays. When apparently nothing happened in about a decade, now they changed it to 'Climate Change'. I heard a scientist said 'the earth is still recovering from the last ice age, that all land surface of the earth was once teeming with life or civilization including many of submerged areas of past human habitations. That the polar ice caps would eventually melt and more arable lands will be available for human civilization as it was apparently once was. [I cant recall the aforesaid scientist but it's either Steve Austin or Kurt Wise or Robert Gentry or their contemporary]
@vice.nor.virtue
@vice.nor.virtue Год назад
@@analieromero Okay, well if you need fact based evidence you can SEE WITH YOU OWN EYES UNLESS YOU ARE BLIND. I'll give you a quick example. California went from having a 14 year mega-drought to be being flooded by _9 storms in a row._ Also in America hottest year on record followed by coldest winter storm for a century. It's not about the climate getting warmer, it's about greater and greater extremes. Please re-examine your vocabulary. Thank you.
