For the Roshi kill the reason I think they were going with is that Roshi already leapt at Jiraiya with his fist out so it didn't matter that he was caught because his body was already moving so fast it would tear through him anyway.

Yeah, it's usually considered one of the best episodes of the series, but the limitations it has to deal with can throw people off

A year late, but... It certainly can be a good indicator of that, but at the same time, I have since some around to liking the episode A LOT more since I made this video. I don't think I'd call it one of my all time favorites still, but it's enough that the placement I gave it here has aged like milk.

I would put jack vs afro much higher,its probably the best hand drawn fight done by any vs channel (and yes that includes saitama vs Popeye) But hey i respect your opinion

Thanos vs Darkseid is honestly my least favorite episode this season. And probably my least favorite finale overall. Deadpool vs Pinkie Pie is a worse episode, sure. But it was never meant to be a finale, so it was a victim of circumstance. But this episode was meant to be a finale, and I was still disappointed by it. I found the analysis painfully unfunny, especially the out of place Nomad of Nowhere reference that most people are not going to get. The fight itself, while long, felt like very little happened and it failed to use either of their powers properly for me. Thanos had many ways to kill the golem avatar, but all he did was snap over and over because the MCU popularized it. Also, Darkseid’s eye lasers miss Thanos completely which is inaccurate, and it’s not like they couldn’t have it hit because Thanos has ways to block the eye beams. And that’s not even factoring in the jank you pointed out already. That’s why I personally like episodes like Jack vs Afro more because while the fight is shorter it felt like a lot happened. The conclusion is fine enough, it was able to convince me that Darkseid would win from only what they provided within the analysis. My problem is that this finale episode feels like an average episode. If Deadpool vs Pinkie Pie was an average episode as intended, it would not get as much flack as it does. Don’t get me wrong btw, I respect your opinion entirely. I just wanted to share my personal disappointment with the episode.

I'm kinda surprised you didn't bring up how bad Mario vs Sonic's characterisation is for both characters, that alone made the episode age pretty badly for me (and i already wasn't a fan on my first watch).

Although this reply is a year late... Yeah I'm not sure how I missed something that crucial, but I think that's because I didn't really know what I was doing when I made this list. Even besides that, there's definitely a good chunk of placements I don't agree with anymore (and this is true for the lists for Seasons 2, 3, 4, and 6 too), and this episode is one of them. Nowadays, I wouldn't say the episode is good anymore. I'd say it's straight up bad now, which is probably how I've always felt, but I subconsciously forced myself to like the episode because it was Mario VS Sonic, the 100th episode. It HAD to be good, right?

I knew i was disappointed with the episode when i first saw it but i was basically trying to convince myself that it was only because Sonic losing stung so much for me and that it was still good just because it was that special episode. However, after i was completely fine with Sonic losing to Flash (i know it's a diffrent Sonic, but his banter at the start of that fight still felt close enough to things his game counterpart could say) that basically made me realize that i don't care if my favorite characters lose if they get a good episode that treats them with respect, which is exactly why i feel the Mario vs Sonic rematch has aged so badly after it's had the time for me to sink in. The bad characterisation and overly agressive tone make this episode feel a lot less like "Mario vs Sonic" and more like "Racist Mario vs Sonic for hire" due to how agressive Mario is and Sonic being depicted as an incompitent fighter who gives up too easilly. And yeah, the fact that this episode somehow has a shorter fight, less back and forth and less abilities/power ups used by both combatants compared to the original doesn't help it's case.

Personally, for me Twilight Sparkle vs Raven is straight up bad, though not as bad as Batman vs Black Panther. I don't like it, not because of the result cuz i think it was obvious from the start, but because of the fight itself; i don't see many connections between them aside from the fact that both of em are powerful mages and have the same voice actress, there are things that they didn't took into account comic Twilight even though they're the exact same character and not a different incarnation, and basically the match up is a literal stomp (though i haven't seen a single match up for Twi that is fair or fitting)

Why Optimus Prime Vs Gundam is #11? Is first Autobots episode in Transformers on series. (I happy by Autobots episode on series) Never watch first Decepticons episode in Transformers on series like Starscream Vs Rainbow Dash is badly episode. 🙄 (Death Battle in Transformers on season 1-10) Decepticons: first Starscream, second Megatron. Autobots: first Optimus Prime Heralds of Unicron: first Unicron

Mario vs Sonic 2018 is a zero for me. The verdict is wrong and feels like a spite match. I do like somethings but I can't look past the negatives that are obvious. But what I do like are the music and the animation. Both are great but that's really it.
