For the artcic train, it could have sleeping cabins, a restaurant wagon or even car wagons, this is something you can see in Places around Finland and probably in other northern countries aswell.
For the arctic line you can use: amtrak AEM-7 with Amfleet coaches with the Amfleet cab car Class 390 Pendolino Class 68 with mk5 coaches and the nova end car If you want a challenge do the Amtrak Avelia Liberty
Looking nice, buddy. Are you sure you can't just replace the engines with a whole bunch of batteries and just have the train recharge at every second station or such? For highspeed trains you can look at the siemens velaro, looks really nice imo
now that you've gained the ability to switch points, you ought to be running on the left hand track in the direction of travel (for UK prototype), the question then becomes how you keep trains apart... you coud implement some form of block signalling, so one train between each station and one train at each platform (beware of conflicts around the junctions), or you could use a more modern approach and calculate relative position between each train and have following trains adjust their speed accordingly one thing i noticed was the train openning doors not accomodated on a platform, in reality we use a system called Automatice Selective Door Opening, which consists of a beacon mounted in 4 foot just approaching the station, which is read by an antenna under the leading cab, the beacon tells the train how long the platform is, the train knows how long it is, and calculates how many doors to open, once the train reaches about 13mph, it resets (if no beacon is detected the train will open in defult mode which will only open doors based on the shortest possible platform)... one potentially problamtic thing i can see with your emergency stop button, is that if a player activates it and leaves the train, the could botch the entire system until they return to reset it, as such it might be a good idea to set a timer of say 2-3 mins then have the train reset itself, (if the player needs to hold the train at a location they can always access the cab during that window and overide the computer)
For some more bidirectional train ideas, you could have a locomotive at one end of the train and a cab car, where the cab would look similar to the tube train, at the other. Some real life trains to take inspiration from are New Jersey Transit’s Comet cars, or if you want something double decker, there is their MultiLevel. If you want something sleeker looking, there is the Budd Metroliner. If you want something cool and different looking, the UAC TurboTrain is bidirectional. If you want to keep the British look, there’s the Blue Pullman (classes 251 and 261), but honestly for the long distance up to the Arctic personally I’d use the HST and whatever mid-level train you choose could do the mid-range journey.
Will you be Putting the Trains Logic on the Workshop for people Like me whos not good at logic, as these are amazing train systems and I think many people would like to use this train system. Also would you be able to make a Southern Railways Class 300C for another Line or the same line but another track. Keep up with the Good work
As for what train to use for the arctic... I've always loved the very distinctive shape of the Dutch Mat '64. Unfortunately, the Mat '64 is a electrical multiple unit. Luckily, the Dutch railways had a dieselelectric predecessor of the Mat '64, named the Plan U (also known as the DE3. I'll let you figure out what the DE stands for. ;) ). If you can get the round shape of the nose right, I think it would make for a very visually impressive train.
(Commented at 5:26 , so sorry if this is addressed later in the video) So, if the trains transmit data that can be read, you could (theoretically) actually create a timetable. That way, multiple trains will run in sync, rather than bunching up if one needs to make an unscheduled stop. Something like this, and I'll leave it to you to translate this to actual code: Has [train 1/2/3/...] arrived at, or gone past [station 1/2/3/...]? If yes, proceed to next station. If no, wait (x) seconds and check again. It doesn't have to do this for every station. It could just do this to compare two trains, and two stations.
Well the biggest problem is that we can mod the signals however there is only one file, So for example i can a possition of the signal but the game doesnt know the differences between them, So at some junction you can find up to 6, For the game they are all just one file. So no way to specify the signal.
Since this is British themed I recommend making an Eurostar which is am extremely fast and good looking train, or you could make an ICE (inter city express) which is also fast and well known. (or you could make a French TGV) (Also I need that WIP Intercity in meh life now)
The code for the pilot station stays in there so you know what the code is and on the out side of the plot doors haves a button to get in to break in without using the code
Instead of changing game files just send a signal to all switches to got to the right (or left) and then you will know the state of ever switch but you have to assume that the player won’t manually change it
@@MrNJersey I see, but what if a player enters the system, perhaps hauling cargo with their own train? Is that even possible then? Or do you just need to stay off the tracks completely?
Fingerprint eyeball scanner double keyhole DNA access guard robots. yea sure... The only terrorist on trains are drunks who got caught not paying a ticket and are angry enough to want to "speak" to the conductor
I’m probably just dumb but will any of this be available on the workshop at some point, I imagine you would load it in with a mission or as vehicles I’m not the best at trying to articulate this but, will people be able to download this and have trains going automatically in their single player worlds via steam workshop
Maybe a Central Control Room, with a huge display showing up the stations and tracks, the current position of all trains and a communication system with their drivers Anyway, is pretty awesome already!
For the Arctic line you could perhaps use a steam engine (it could perhaps be diesel, then the exhaust is the funnel, but it’s up to you), as I feel that would be really cool. Or maybe a freight train which could stop at some stops and then someone could operate a crane or something like that. I’m sure that whatever you do will be fabulous so keep up the good work!
Speaking of left-handed driver's seats, it's on the left because LU trains, and most if not all trains in the UK drive on the left. So if you're deciding to run right-handed, put a driver's seat on the right. Driving left-handed? a seat on the left. Seats in the centre occur on either running side, so those are always a good way to avoid annoying comments (though this DOES NOT work for multiple units such as the train you've got here) EDIT: One, thanks for the heart, two if you want some explanation into UK rail signalling, then you can ask and I'll try to post an explanation.
Please finish the project before 24.4.2020! If quarantine ends I gotta go to school and won’t be able to test the trains ( but if quarantine doesn’t end by 24.4 you can take your time😂
For the arctic line you should switch it up and make an American train, maybe something like the Avelia Liberty, Acela Express, Fly California, or even a streamlined train with a cab unit like an F7.
This is awesome. Amazing work. Can you do a British Northern train? I rode one from Manchester to Sheffield and back when I lived there. Edit: That highspeed train is excellent.
You could make a central Dispatch Tower with a track map that shows where each train is (by using the train's location transmitter) Additionally, you could make it run multiple trains at once, and have them always run on one side of the track , passing each other (like cars do in real life) Also, is there a publicly available version of the train controller? It'd be cool if people could make their own trains for the system. Can't wait to see more progress on this
A Class 37 with mk2 coaches would be nice or maybe an intercity 225 for the artic line and maybe as a variation to the tube stock for the short line maybe a 158
If the train barely uses fuel you should replace a lot of the tanks with batteries so that the engines run less frequently. Also you might want to consider using a pump and sending the exhaust straight down to hide it in the ground. Just some ideas I had while watching. I really like what you have so far
Hi. Make an azuma (class 800 in LNER livery) or make like a nova (in transpennine). A few others would be a class 170, 158, 390(pendilino virgin livery or avanti), 314, 318, class 68 or make something like a steam locomotive (60163 tornado, 60009 union of South Africa or 60103 flying scotsman.) Just some suggestions. :)
you should make the trains aware of the other trains on the line and for the arctic have one super duper long train like that one from the northern express
Hey man, I was wondering if you could model in a DSB IC3 train, its a very simplistic and beautiful train, that would fit perfectly for this game! Also, buying as soon as this comes out, it looks AMAZING! :D
