This song has legs that just don't ever quit.. time after time, no matter when i hear it and sing along, it levels me.. I cry tears of joy every time.. God, I love you so much! But not nearly as much as you love us.. So amazing.. just knowing He loves us so so very much, girds us up and helps us get thru anything! Because He's so near to us.. God is Omnipresent and as close as our skin, listening to this song sure shows that raw emotion. His Spirit is so real and moves in us and brings us into that place we can sit in His very presence.. no wonder we weep! God bless you and thank you for writing this beautiful song..
I needed this today. I really needed this, which I am so happy that the Holy Spirit led me to this video because that is who awesome He is. He truly loves us.
We'll be doing this song in my Guitar Worship small group tonight. One of the things we like to go over is where the songs are born from. The lyrics may or may not be Bible-based but the song is born from an experience and God uses those experiences and reminds us of His word, His glory and His promises. The Word is a Living Word and speaks to us if we're willing to listen. Thank you for this post, this song and your obedience.
I was driving through the mountains of Colorado working construction with three coworkers asleep in the truck when I first heard this song on the radio in the middle of the night. I was also going through an unwanted divorce and had lost everything. This song at that moment OK and everything I needed as he sang over me
John thanks so much for sharing this story with us I know that it was painful to tell but it was amazing. I cried many times when I heard this. I glad to know the story behind my favorite song. I know that your friend Stephen is looking down you and he is happy with you John. He was so right about the song. Again this is the best version of the song. God Bless you John Mark McMillan, Luke.
I remember watching this streamed.. the testimony reminds me of the last time i saw my best friend Ryan before his passing... i liked to think i knew the story behind how he loves... Please John, never lose the love you sing of, because the vision of the love of jesus in these words...its beautiful beyond all ability to express. Sing with the wonderful compassionate heart you're blessed with
Thank you so much for posting this, John. God has used your music (especially from The Song Inside album) to help me see Him through so many seasons (including the one I'm in right now).
Your realness and genuine kind deep heart is so touching. I praise God for making such hearts. I am sorry that you had to lose such a friend, and I am glad that you will see him again one day.
John Mark, for another year you were my top Spotify artist. It's your heart, your poetry and musicality as well as moments like this that keep me coming back, buying merch, and getting concert tickets the day they come out!
