I can't imagine how exhausting the tick's can be, but you handle yourself with charm and delight. I know that anxiety, depression and even a breakdown can change ones life, it has changed many, myself included and I've come to find that being honest with oneself is never too easy, but in the end will bring only the truest people into your life. I think you are dashing, handsome, warm and charming, I'd be happy to be with someone who comes across with the light you seem to carry in your heart and soul. Just watched this, and I'm so glad I did. It tells the story behind the handsome first dater we all saw on the Channel 4 programme. It will help anyone with or without Tourettes to know more about the condition and show what people with Tourettes go trough. Respect!

I enjoyed your story so much! You are such an inspiring young man! Your tics don't define you... your heart defines you! And you have such a kind, lovely soul. Seeing you with those young children, being a role model... I am so impressed! Regardless of the words that you can't help, or the gestures you can't control, just keep being you. Knowing that you want to get into the mental health field, in order to help others, while you struggle at times, yourself... that shows true compassion and understanding. It's maddening to say the least that people treat you in the way that they do. But you seem to have what may be missing in wider society, courage, compassion and heart. My heart is breaking for you . I was in a very familiar place to you over a break up. I'm so glad you didn't take your life over a tosser . Your so handsome and sweet he really must of been a complete fool . The fact that This happened to you because of emotional stress makes me wonder could it be cured with counselling? It's must be very hard for you to live with this condition. I'm kinda emotional watching all the way to the end of this video. I've heard this condition before but I never seen one in my place. I'm okay if I have friend like you, be strong Damian. I'll pray for your happiness, I'm rooting for you.

I feel for you Damian but you're strong and will continue to be beautiful person inside and out. I've experienced how people have treated those with Tourette's. I would get off work late and this young guy would blend in with rest of the strap hangers on the A train in NYC. He then would start yelling out whatever and yes, some things were offensive. Some people just don't know about it. Being white the N word was shouted several times made this one black man hot. So hot he threatened him. Someone had to tell him that he had Tourette's and explain that what it was. Unfortunately, that person like many in NYC had his own mental health issues. He was homeless and triggered something. We insisted that he move to another car so the situation wouldn't escalate. I'd see this young guy occasionally, some nights I would hear very little and some a whole bunch. Just like any else we need more understanding and education on these issues. These are sweet people who deserve to live a full life.

Stephen Nolan's observation at the end of this incredibly insightful programme is his comment, "If he (Damian) is accepted, he will be free." Damian, from watching you on First Dates I know your ticks developed after the man you loved rejected you. I think throughout your life you have focused on helping others feel safe, loved and accepted and I commend you for that. However, if we spend our lives making sure everyone else is OK we leave no time to focus on our own needs and on what makes ourselves happy. The long term effects of this are that we see everyone around us seemlingly happy and content while we are left behind feeling alone, miserable and self critical. I speak from personal experience.
