Exactly, with the exception of a very and I mean VERY small amount (probably less than a handful) of wrestlers the rest of the roster is cut from the exact same cloth. They don't have the look, they pretty much all have the same move-sets, and also have no mic skills. L.A. Knight, CM Punk, Jey Uso, and the part-timers are not enough to keep people watching for too much longer imo.
We all miss them night snuggled watching ppv night some on Mondays some on Fridays if I build a time machine lets all go back to 199 2000 2001 2002 2003 ...after Ray Patista it literally went down heal in my opinion
Even though the invasion storyline had its share of ups and downs, the Austin Angle feud was definitely one of the true standouts, from their comedic chemistry with Vince McMahon to their fiery promos to the intensity and emotion in their matches. Both guys really brought the best out of each other and had the fans firmly in their grasp. Austin was at his best as the cynical crazed Alliance leader and Angle was red hot as the heroic patrotic figure determined to win back the gold for his company. The summer of 2001 was my favourite period of the year mostly because of Austin and Angle
That’s why he’s the GOAT of professional wrestling in my opinion, injuries really robbed us more and more great years the man could have had. He was so damn entertaining to watch as both Face and Heel.
❤🎉😊 I also know that Stone Cold and Kurt Angle had a match at Unforgiven 2001, and when The Olympic Gold Medalist defeated The Texas Rattlesnake, it was a really big and emotional victory. What a way to be special ❤🎉😊
@wave201988 - That was a great match as well. Plus Booker/Rock, Jericho/Rhyno, and even Taker/Kane vs DDP/Kanyon were all solid. Overall, it was an awesome PPV despite the Invasion angle not being great.
Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit were the 2 most intense submissions in wrestling history. Once they have their submission locked on you, it's over a 💯 percent of the time.
You’re wrong the best and most technical submissiner is bret the hitman hart, the best there was, is and ever will be. The sharpshooter. Bret would destroy Kurt angle and Benoit
Or completely smelling the reality which was the rock was never wcw material or ecw The rock joining the alliance is completely laughable 😂 , rock was born in wwe
Absolute gem is this feud. Unique time as the Alliance angle was my introduction to various talents like RVD, Booker T. Also at the time was the legendary Smackdown fist arena.
I always hated this part of the Alliance story as it made everyone "kowtow" and kiss-ass to Austin for no other reason than it was "Austin".. it was done with a bit more hilarity than other power angles, but it elevated almost NOBODY but Austin.
On a side note, I had no idea that the origin story for the Hurricane was in this particular rivalry. All because Helms has a Green Lantern tattoo lol.
I never thought it was a failure cause I was booing the mess out of that man after he turned on the WWE at Invasion it legit made me sick to my stomach.
This whole story line with the alliance, and the WWF was one of my favorite story lines of all time, and it will go down as one of the greatest not the greatest one off
It don't get alot of praise but if I can chime inn it Def was history in the making as the best WCW talent was able to showcase there skills to a different crowd. .Austin was absolutely hilarious 😂 in this story line I loved it and I loved this time in wrestling ❤
*What’s wrong with Me?* 0:00 Stone Cold Is INSULTED by the lack of appreciation from Vince McMahon and the WWF Fans! 0:52 “A hug used to be something special.” 1:18 “There ain’t nothin wrong with me.” 2:29 Why you wanna call The Rock!?… You’ve got Stone Cold Steve Austin.” 3:13 Blood 🩸 Sweat 😅 Tears 😭 3:30 The Alliance 4:12 “Stone Cold Steve Austin will back down from nobody.”
I LOVE Austin turning around to the Alliance and saying "CLAP" when he's commenting. Austin and Booker T had so much chemistry....its a shame they never had a real single's program spanning a couple PPVs.
Was not a big fan of stone cold turning heel but at the same time he was able to put over a babyface Kurt Angle and it worked. Despite turning heel again A few months later, angle was able to have his moment in the sun.
01 - 02 was the greatest run of PPVs WWE has ever had. You can literally watch every PPV top to bottom from 01 through the end of 02 and every match is legit.
I think Big Show is the only wrestler to alternate between face and heel for most of his career. The amount of times he's turned his back on someone is mind blowing lmao
Match was terrific. I think as far as an “invasion” feeling, I prefer Booker vs Rock that ppv since that really felt like a cool cross promotional match, whereas Austin/Angle didn’t. Still a great match with a great story told in the match.
Agreed. I think an Austin vs Hollywood Hogan (or Scott Steiner) or Austin vs DDP match for the WWF title would have been better for an "Invasion" arc/feeling. If it was a plain WWF only match (no "Invasion" arc) then it was/would have been a great match/angle
And can you do the following: -Sonya Deville vs. Mandy Rose (SummerSlam 2020) -Triple H vs. Cactus Jack (No Way Out 2000) -Daniel Bryan vs. Triple H/Daniel Bryan vs. Batista vs. Randy Orton (WrestleMania XXX) -Johnny Gargano vs. Adam Cole (NXT Takeover: New York) -Bayley (who just became a godmother to Carmella’s baby boy Dimitri) vs. Sasha Banks (NXT Takeover: Brooklyn I and Hell in a Cell 2020) -Goldberg vs. Kevin Nash (Starrcade 1998) -Hollywood Hogan vs. Sting (Starrcade 1997) -Team WWF vs. Team Alliance (Survivor Series 2001) -Alexa Bliss vs. Bayley (Payback 2017) -Goldberg vs. Triple H (Unforgiven 2003) -Becky Lynch vs. Bianca Belair (WrestleMania XXXVIII) -Batista vs. King Booker (Survivor Series 2006) -Tommaso Ciampa vs. Johnny Gargano (NXT Takeover: New Orleans) -Kane vs. The Undertaker (WrestleMania XIV) -The Undertaker vs. Mankind (1998 King of the Ring) -The Rock vs. “Stone Cold” Steve Austin (WrestleMania XIX) -Shawn Michaels vs. “Stone Cold” Steve Austin (WrestleMania XIV) -Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes (WrestleMania XL) -Booker T vs. Scott Steiner (Mayhem 2000) -Becky Lynch vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Ronda Rousey (WrestleMania 35) -The Rock vs. Kurt Angle (No Way Out 2001) …and… -The Rock, The Undertaker and Kane vs. Triple H, Shane McMahon and Mr. McMahon (2000 King of the Ring)
This was when wwe was actually entertaining. There were characters with charisma, entertaining, unique traits and behaviors. Today's wwe seems to be characters who are basically all the same, reading from que cards or something. Not sure how to describe it, but entertainment wise, it's completely dead compared to era's.
Just a suggestion but it would be cool to see a feud like the alliance vs wwe or some traditional survivor series match. Don’t know if it would be difficult but it would be different at least! Other than that keep it up you’re my favorite youtube channel.
I remember this I was like 12 at the time, I thought it was awesome the invasion angle, i was a nitro kid up until 2000, the cactus jack HHH fued got me into watching wwe religiously. But I remember this summer slam I got it on tape from when I ordered it on ppv. RvD vs hardy hardcore ladder match, tag team cage match, rock and booker t, even jericho vs rhyno and xpac and tajari this was the best ppv of the invasion angle.
43:12 "Well, usually, you're pretty mean to me..." With the topsy-turvy face/heel dynamics in 2001, I love how the writers just lampshade it when old enemies come together.
Naw mayne Austin ‘s heel character work was hilarious my boy really went all in you can tell he really wanted to make this character work legit crying tears he had me laughing so hard 😂😂😂
What was missing from this invasion storyline was the right star power of certain WCW guys, along with the injury to HHH, didn’t like the burial of DDP. Despite that this Angle between Austin and Angle was great, one of my all time favorite feuds. Kurt said in his podcast that Booker T was one of his top 5 opponents ever to work with in the ring
What a great edition! It was the first time I watched wrestling on TV. I love to SCSA Leader of the alliance entrance theme "venomous" OH hell yeaahhhh!!!🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺
