My first World Series was 2005. I was in a $1500 event and moved into Annie’s table. She busted, and Negreanu ended up filling her old seat. Once he found out it was her old seat, he made a grossed-out gasp and pulled sanitary wipes out of his backpack and wiped down the rail and chair😂. It was a weird and memorable moment for a first timer with the pros lol.
@@ItsaMAGAWorld Yeah no, sorry. she's retired at only $4.1m in winnings. Daniel still playing after $20m+. She won WSOP and a national championship once and let it get to her head, Daniel won WSOP 7 times and WPT twice and still humble.
Annie Duke and Howard Lederer both proved to be despicable human beings after the early controversies surrounding online poker and their involvements in cheating, stealing and essentially making it untenable for anyone to play on the sites they endorsed. They unfortunately got Chris Ferguson caught up in the mess as well. Not that Chris deserves any less hostility from the poker community.
Sooo...this public feud all started when DN commented about an unnamed female player's bad behavior. Then HOWARD outed Annie as the unnamed female, while claiming to be defending her? Nice move, Perfesser.
I thought I had missed something too. Lol. Daniel kept her private, and then Howard names her and calls Daniel out .....precursor of how Howard really was? 🤔
Please detail how you were defrauded out of thousands in the FT collapse. We were all made whole after the purchase, and there would've never been a problem if the feds had not shut down the site. We should all be mad at the feds.
@@johnskrbFull tilt owners were using players funds. They were taking money that wasnt theirs. The fact that pokerstars eventually made players whole doesnt change the fact that their money was stolen by full tilt ownership.
@@ladiesman2222003 They did not have the player funds separate from operating funds, but the site was still solvent. It's track towards insolvency started when they still allowed US players to continue to play and credit with a "deposit" even though FT could not always complete the financial withdrawal from US accounts. FT had started to execute / complete those back transactions when they feds shut them down. So, the US fed UIGEA illegally (i.e., they had no legal right to stop me from gambling) caused the first problem, and then they stepped in to stop FT from getting around their restrictions, which is what they really cared about (they did not care about protecting me and you).
her bf won ahuge torny just found this she denies being in chat wtf. Im not sure if this is same torny. I just found this post. To people saying there is no "proof" of Annie cheating, her boyfriend was using her account and she continually denied knowing who the user was in her commentary for the final table of that 1k tournament. She even goes out of her way to say, "Who could this unknown be?" multiple times. It was her boyfriend who took down a 1k tournament on a website that was proven to be fraudulent and she denies even knowing who the guy is(maybe because people would put, 2 and 2 together? which makes her come out looking worse for denying it)
she was in with russ hamilton also on ub .she stole there stole here stole everywhere .she probably just drew at everything like a fish cause we were paying for it on ft .fher
No data to back this up, but I dealt for a living for over 15 years and played with some small success. Based on my experiences, I've come to believe the incidence of narcissism among professional poker players has to be tremendously higher than the population at large, and in my opinion, this feud is a perfect example of two toxic narcissists going at each other and thinking people care. Of the two, I definitely think Annie Duke is much worse. I have real-time experience with her, and in my opinion, she's just as crooked and entitled as Negreanu says she is. Daniel can be extremely hypocritical, though. When Daniel was so openly critical of Howard Lederer after the Full Tilt debacle, I agreed with every word he said, BUT in the months and years after, I noticed Daniel doesn't hold friends to anywhere near the same standard. He often defends them in equally shady circumstances; for example when Eric Lindgren flat-out stole a million bucks from Chris Ferguson. 15+ years later, Lindgren still hasn't paid it back, and Negreanu still insists it's Full Tilt's bookkeeping department's fault. Lindgren knew Ferguson agreed to loan him a million bucks, Full Tilt accidentally wired him the million bucks twice, and he never gave the extra million back. Never paid the other million back, either. During the poker boom I was always amazed that so many people were lining up to blow all these "poker pros", treating them like rockstars when so many of them are crooks, thieves and con artists.
@@peppergrand1072 Pokerstars bought FTP and yes everyone who was in the know and took the steps got their FTP accounts paid back. Many never knew about it though.
@@peppergrand1072 I got back around 10 cents on the dollar, I believe before they folded. After Pokerstars bought them out, I got some more back, but nowhere near all of it. I never kept a lot of money on there. I played on both Full Tilt and Pokerstars, but always Felt Full Tilt was shady. When I'd call customer service at Pokerstars, I felt like I was dealing with professionals. When I called customer service at Full Titl, it was like talking to somebody in a trailer house in Arkansas.
How is Howard doing these days? Poker News says that Daniel is the 7th richest poker player in America with a net worth of $70 M in poker winnings. They ranked two players ahead of him but they didn't make their fortunes from only poker.
To be fair, Ferguson was the only person who'd profited off of Full Tilt to give back all his profits so it could be returned to the players. It was easy for him to do so; Ferguson's richer than god from software he's written, but Phil Gordon's even richer and he didn't give any money back.
I played with her once at the Bellagio and she didn't act up or act out. She took one bad beat and later drew out on the same guy for all his chips without commentary. I've only played with Daniel once at a WSOP event and he was talkative, friendly and fun from start to finish.
Sounds to me like Daniel's complaints about Annie (I'm halfway through the video) are not about her hair or make-up or tone of voice, they are about her behavior as a professional poker player. I get the feeling she could hang out on yachts or on rafts - away from the table - and it wouldn't make any difference at all to Daniel. She could bluff a blue streak, and he wouldn't complain. I.e. It's not personal, it is professional, like criticizing a cab driver who drives very badly, and not wanting to be on the same road. These guys aren't playing for $5.00 buy-ins with friends, but even then, guys would shun someone who, for example, peered over at their neighbor's hand.
I met and played with Annie one time when I was a 21, and she was a complete asshole to me and aggressive towards nearly everyone at the table. She genuinely came across as a horrible person to be around. I completely side with Daniel on this one.
I met Annie one time in Vegas during a sit-and-go at the Flamingo. She distracted me at the table and then her identical twin grabbed all my chips and ran! I couldn't believe it. That is the last time I ever trusted identical twins.
@@dashx1103 dumb story even if it was true , would be no point in stealing ur chips in a sit in go as they would be tourny chips and have no cash out value lol
"King and Queen of Poker Hall of Shame". Couldn't have said it better. Their careers have been littered with scandal for how long, at least two decades? I used to admire them both as great players, but they just epitomize the seedy side of the poker world.
Whats wrong with people who buy Book? some people just want to get knowledge dude, everybody have experience that worth to learn for, smart people learn from everything and everyone, average people only learn from their own experience, while dumb people already think they are doesn't need to learn anymore.
I know from your comment you probably doesn't like Annie Duke, but you use Book as a way of showing dislike, is kinda telling everybody that you dislike someone who make progress by reading a Book or aquiring knowledge.
5:58 you said Tony revealed his two aces, which changes the entire subject there. Tony did not reveal his hand, he mucked them. Thats why what she did was wrong. You made it seem like she grabbed her own mucked cards. I had to rewind the video a few times to figure out the problem by reading the post and ignoring your talk.
In my opinion, neither Annie Duke nor her brother Howard Lederer should be allowed to enter any poker room. When you read about Epic Poker and Full Tilt, it's obvious their morals are in the toilet. It's no coincidence they're brother and sister. Negreanu is right.
Duke is a perfect example of a big fish in a small pond getting eaten alive by a new wave of young, smart players. Daniel is a perfect example of adapting to a new, tougher game and finding success.
i got that feeling with Full Tilt poker before they were shut down. I forgot what it was called at the time but i turned 100 dollars into 5000 using their rapid seating game, it was fucking nuts. It took FOREVER to withdrawl my money, they had me go through hoops but i eventually got the check. They wanted me to keep playing and give it all back. I knew id never run that hot again and decided to eject. Long story short, got my money after like a 6 month ID verification process. Full Tilt went belly up less than a year later.
check this out i put 100 in at bodog bovada whatever its called this week .i played that 100 for 4 months on there and the nba finally got me .i played over 100 sit in gos 100 head up matches all for 5.00 . .also i never heard of anyone cashing out on there .hey i lived off suckers playing cards for 45 years so i know when its a cold deck because ive done it myself oops
Thank you! I played something called Global Poker and I was up a few hundred ( I know it’s Not a lot of money) but last one hundred and only put a total of 40$ into it. I was playing small tournaments to pass my time at work as a programmer. One day I tried logging in and it wouldn’t let me! I went to the help section and all I ever got was an email basically telling me that my own account is permanently locked out because I accidentally logged back in on another tab and they said someone hacked it. I told them it was me and I didn’t mean to do that, I know it’s a rookie mistake but they never got back to me. I tried multiple times and now they just get to keep my 100$ bucks and won’t even email back at all about it. Sad to say the least. What a dam scam.
I worked at the Mirage poker room in 1984 to 1987. I never met Daniel but I did see Annie and Howard and she was not a very nice person at all Howard was decent but didn’t really see much of him but she was not very nice at all. !!
Scary that nearly 20 years ago i got extremely drunk with Jesus and Howard in London,i was on my way to Vegas to play poker and ran into them at a Casino in London and it was like the highlight of my life at that point(they were poker royalty at that point especially Ferguson),i still have the photos on Facebook, scary how time flies and also how little you know about people.
In the third of Daniel's list of examples of Annie's bad behavior (5:41), the narration explains that Tony "revealed his two Aces" and that "Annie grabbed the folded cards, glanced at them". This is not accurate to the text explanation of the story. In the text, the story is that Dan folded, Tony DID NOT show his Aces. He mucked his hole cards while telling Dan that it was Aces. Annie grabbed the mucked winning hole cards (the Aces) and checked whether Tony was telling the truth about it being Aces.
@@jeremykline6687 Yeah, I've played poker for a living for most of my adult life and I've never heard of anyone ever doing that. That's crazy and totally unacceptable.
@@Shad0wack Thinking everyone but you believes everything on TV and is an NPC is the most NPC way to think! If Daniel was a trash human it would have surfaced long ago. People talk.
Annie Duke has a history of being a bully and @sshole, especially towards the recreational and newer players, she has that 'entitled' and 'i am above you' way about her. So I have no problem with Daniel on this situation, I mean it is obvious she hates being put in her place, and this highlights that fact of she thinks she above everyone else.
Her name is forever tainted with her cheat brother... Negreanu's name is forever a legend and respectful great for the beautiful/terrible game of Poker ❤😂
My favorite thing from this whole thing knowing very little about either of these people going in, is Annie writing an "open letter to Pokerstars" - *"...about treating people with respect, and the use of a word that is abusive and demeaning to ALL WOMEN."* (Basically trying to get him fired/punished because she didn't like that he called her a mean word, and she wanted to distract and deflect away from any other points Dan was making at that moment...) Trying to make sure he's punished for "treating a woman poker player badly" -When he didn't hold back his take, regardless of the fact she's a woman, because that's irrelevant to her character, and the way she acts and behaves... Annie LOVES to talk on behalf.of all women, and utilize being a women whenever its convenient for her... As long as it benefits her in some way. Whenever its convenient for her to mention her gender in order to separate herself from her male competitors, usually as a point of pride... When somebody points out the hypocrisy in Annie declaring herself "the best *female* poker player, when Annie herself wants to try and make the point "men/women only tournaments" really shoudnt exist, because THAT separates by gender, and it should just be "poker" - not *men/women' poker"- gender is irrelevant to poker... Apparently... But then... Why does it matter that Daniel called you a c*nt, and moreso, why would it be any more or less demeaning because youre a "women poker player"? So you can demean him, and she can even call him a c*nt if she wanted with this logic, but if HE says that to HER, according to her, it's essentially the equivalent of the "N" word when used towards any woman... And she's a woman don't forget... All the sudden she gets to MAGICALLY invoke the power of a made up army of "the vast majority" of the 4+/- billion other women in the world, to defend eachothers honour or some shit... "Abusive and demeaning to all women" lmfao... Im pretty sure he was talking DIRECTLY TO YOU, and NOBODY else. Didn't call *any* other woman that word in this case... Once again, when its convenient to bring up her gender to separate herself, and especially as a way to put herself above others, there's NO hesitation or second thoughts... When others treat her like they would any other male competitor (which she claims she wants...) Especially treating her how they do, when she acts the way she does, LORD have mercy! You just did a FEMALE poker player wrong! Even tho its not wrong apparently if its a male...? It's worse? Ok Annie. SO clear to see through the type of person she is, and its exactly who Daniel said she was time after time after time...
In 2007, I was having a drink with friends at a bar and watching poker on tv. I had admiration for Annie at that time. A guy sitting by us told a story of a night drinking in Vegas and going home with her. I believed it.
Until I saw this video, I would have said what a lucky guy he was. I had a massive crush on Annie Duke. Not sure why, just something about her did it for me. But now I can't believe that she has been such a POS to others.
At the very end of the video you mentioned Daniel's comment about Annie and Howard and shame, but failed to mention why Howard was included for that. He was involved in the Full Tilt Poker scandal. See, that was easy to explain.
@@aix23723 I've been playing poker for 19 years and I've "heard of her" but I knew basically nothing other than her name and face and that she is an old school pro. I couldn't tell you a single hand memorable hand with her.
Waittt number three...she turned over SOMEONE ELSE'S CARDS after the hand was through?! That should totally be some sort of penalty to say the least right??
Having an online feud is sociopathic behavior. It doesn’t matter if you’re wrong or right but going out of your way to make sure everyone knows is actually crazy
The interesting thing about those guys like Annie Duke and Lederer is that they used to be considered great when in reality they used to be nits, pure nits.
The Lederer "poker family" have proven to be bungholes up and down the list. Anyone from the era will never forget the black friday scandal, and finding out that they had their fingers in cash drawer, taking from the players. Howard, Annie, and others including Chris Ferguson had their careers destroyed by their own bad acts. I am with Daniel on this one. Both Howard and Annie are pieces of work, the poker world is much better off without both of them. Too bad so many people had to lose money with them.
I worked the 2006 WSOP, and I just got done dealing a event I went in the back hallway to goto lunch and In a random corner in the dark I saw Shannon Elizabeth’s husband making out with Anne. As I walked by they continued with their high school make out session and all I could think was “how you gonna do that to the American Pie girl. There needs to be more interviews with poker dealers on the how poker pros really are. That’s a video.
Serious question: Why would you need a (women only) Poker tourney? Are they imply women arent as intellectually capable as men? Iuno the thing seems patronizing and sexist...
I’d recommend that you point out much earlier than the very end that Howard Lederer and Annie Duke are brother and sister since it’s kind of important context, especially for the younger crowd who may not know that.
That's a legitimate point. You can't say that women can play just as well as men while at the same time saying there needs to be a women's only event where they don't have to compete against men.
Not that it matters, but just curious, what state/area did the two of them grow up in? Like I'm curious if they're both from a similar background/N.E.W.S.????
I agree with Annie on the girls only poker situation (there’s no advantage men have over women in intelligence, there doesn’t need to be a separate event) but side with Daniel on everything else because she does seem insufferable
ehhh... ther is a massive iq difference, IQ tests prove it, and how many main events have females won? bracelets and all? name a female albert einstein.... tesla.... newton... elon musk? anything? no, u can't, lol... the only iq tests u can point to where males and females r close, is when 10 to 14 years old, when women go thru puberty earlier which gives them an edge, mentally, and physically... remember mone davis? where is she now? o wait, the boys had their growth spurt and she disappeared.
Men do have an advantage in intelligence, specifically when it comes to high thought decision making activities like chess, poker, baccarat, puzzling, trading card games, etc
The results of high level events in all of these activities prove this. That isn't to say there aren't women doing these things at a high level. Maria Ho, Judit Polgar, etc
100 years from now, who you were and what you said or did or didn't say or do won't matter to anyone. Life is terminal. Nobody get's out alive. Some people play games for more money than most people even dream of and want for nothing yet cannot be happy. True happiness is a state of mind and is free.
So let me get this straight. Daniel makes comments about an unknown player. Then Howard comes out and says that's my sister. And then bashes Daniel for calling her out when he in fact, is the one that did it.
Annie’s maiden name is Lederer so it was her brother that named her. I don’t remember the game but Annie had the look of a hygiene deficient compulsive gambler that was on a major losing streak. I lost all respect for her that day. Not sure what happened to her but I haven’t seen her for years.
About 15 years ago, i played a 5K tourney at Bellagio, . I met Annie, she was really rude and obnoxious. Rude with both pkayers and dealers. We were on the same table for about 3-4 hours. Two different players accused her of angle shooting.
No mention of her boyfriend winning one of the biggest tornys she was in chat. Her bf probably had access to that cheating program. Daniel knew what was up with ub back then. I'm not sure what he said but He helped me quit ub for good. Before the cheating was exposed. I knew something was going on. I didn't know of all these accusations of cheating against annie but i believe it.
I remember this well 😂At one tournament, Annie had been to the toilets in bare feet, and Daniel did not like that at all, which I of course fully understand. I like them both for various reasons. Good episode.
