`Story telling was a very common norm in Ugandan cultures and it was often done to teach a moral to the ones listening. This was also done for family bonding or a way of passing down untainted wisdom to the younger generation. The fun part was that it was always done around a burning fire in the evenings, some stories were told at any time of the day though. So much of what we hear our parents say about what they know concerning life and their cultures was embedded in their minds in such moments of story telling. This moral is fading today because parents hardly have time to merely sit and talk to their children about anything, they are either too busy working or they think the toys and computer gadgets they buy for the children are enough. The detrimental thing is that these toys and staff do not teach morals and thats why we have a generation that is in no way connected to their cultures or know any things about it.
We had fun sharing some of he stories that were told to us by family and felt obligated to share them with you in this Video. Enjoy!
