Thanks for all the kind words everyone...you folks are beyond gracious. A few of you commented that I should or should have mentioned the shop name. There was no need. The fella who owned the bike told far more people than I could have. My responsibility is to the fella that is handing me his hard earned money. I don't really care about what other folks do. I also dont like speaking ill of others. Most often, they tell on themselves or their work shows it. Besides...I don't feel the need to downplay others for my own benefit. I don't have to. I would prefer my work speak for itself. I guess the moral of the story is...don't dismiss people when they think they have an issue. "That's Normal" is a phrase I hate when regarding mechanical things and owners with a problem. It literally took me 5 mins to remove the cam cover. The other place could have done that in the parking lot...if anything, to put the owners mind at ease. 10 mins of double checking would have prevented SO MUCH drama, aches, and paints....but anyway...no one is perfect. Mistakes, accidents, and mis-communication can happen. I'd say it comes down to intent and then willingness to resolve issues. At times, apologies are necessary and you just have to make things right. Be fair. Be reasonable. Be compassionate. Be kind. Meet in the middle. As for stories to come...I think I will resurrect my "Tales From a Parts Store Counterman" series I wrote in the past and deliver it on RU-vid. Some are funny, a couple are sad, and a few still inspire me to this day. One in particular, haunts me...I get chills now just thinking about it. I hope you guys will enjoy them on top of the other tech stuff in the works. All the best everyone! I sincerely appreciate all of you.
Story was educational for all. We all know your shop is full and TIME is money when its putting food on your table plus. Customer are waiting for your shop to finish their ride. Great job! So you know, I believe your making a difference for members and non members. Please continue to do what you do and your passion. Thanks!
Weekly Storytime? Yes PLEASE! Your stories are always entertaining, but more importantly usually contain a valuable life lesson for all of us. And bring on the Potiac Ghoulies! Cheers from Oz. 👍👍🇦🇺
A genuine Ethical guy Kevin ..... a smart guy but even moreso a real ethical guy . P.S. Love YOUR stories about anything that makes your mind work . Keep on keepin on !
Kevin, thanks for taking the time out of your busy day to tell us that story. I for one would love to hear more of your stories, or should I say, " life experiences" ...or as we called them in the military and now as veterans, "war stories"
Thank you Kevin. We love your stories, so please include them on your channel as time allows. You’re a man of integrity, knowledge and wisdom. We’re all here because you’re also generous to share with us.
Just want to say you are an absolute gentleman. Love watching your content great information very well explained and it is always teaching me something. Always looking forward to new topics
God Bless You Brother!!! What a Great Story of humbling your self to help someone in need and hopefully helping another to find a blessing and follow the right path!!!
That story tells what kind of man you are, someone with integrity and respect for everyone, if I ever need to get anything done to my bike it will be you, a person true to what he says, keep the stories coming and great videos
Good morning 🌅, great story, I bet you there is a lot of older people out there that could tell a story, you could write ✍️ a book about it, Look 👀 forward to watching 👀,
As an elder gentleman used to say to me, and I will point it back in your direction, "You are my ideal..." The guy used to say that to me whenever I did anything that seemed to impress him. Yer one of the good ones.
I loved the story and did not know you could flip the tensioner. My wife and I are thrilled to donate to veterans, children, and animal charities. Keep up the great work, Kevin.
Kevin, you and your RU-vid site for Harley bikes are the awesome! Wish you the best in the years ahead for Harley bike and engines. If I ever need work done on my bike you would be the first I would contact. Thanks for al the video's.
I once had a friend tell me about being assigned to rebuild a near new Ford school bus engine. Inside the oil pan someone had written f---Henry Ford. Your story just reminded me of it.
It's not all about ft/lbs and hundred thousands of an inch, wanderlust parts or memorial builds. Sometimes the story means as much as the bike, especially in a memorial build or behind a no reveal policy. Keep up the stories behind the reasons. You're teaching the next ones why and showing them how to be of the caliber of character that you strive to maintain. Thank you, for all of those pieces mentioned, and for that caliber of character. Oh, and welcome to Tennessee.
Good story, and showcasing your integrity! I'm not a Harley owner anymore, but I have a couple of Yamaha v-twins and I enjoy watching your videos and I have learned a lot about general mechanics and how systems operate. Keep up the good work and keep the stories coming!!
Kevin I could go on listening to you for hours. I saw the honesty in you when I first met you in Georgia at the old shop. That was an impressive story and I wish I could be so calm in times when somebody is ripping on you over the phone.
Your knowledge and skill set has inspired me to save up a bunch of $ and reach out to you for my build. This old KY guy is not far from TN. I learn so much from your videos; much better than TV.
I wish I knew a 1/4 of what u know on bikes. I'd give anything to apprentice under you for a year or two... you're a great man keep it up and yes we love ya stories keep them coming brother.
Good story, I could only imagine that man’s displeasure of getting bad work done and having such trouble getting it resolved. Keep up the stories, fun to watch
using logic and deduction Baxter's Garage must be the third closest shop to this guy and therefore the shop that carried out the work the second closest to Baxter's, the only question is, in which direction?. The generosity of the motorcycling community never ceases to amaze, rock on.
Awesome video!!! I really enjoy hearing good stories and you always have those. I am interested in the upcoming video series because I always learn so much from you. Thank you
Great human and business ethics is a key ingredient in achieving success in life and delivering customer excellence-you are sure doing well in both areas Kevin.
🤣😥🤠 That story is so funny and so sad at the same time. Thank you for telling this story and do agree that your policy is the best one. It will always come out in the wash. 😎 You already know the answer to that question... tell the story...😁🤠
I would love to hear your Pontiac 6000LE story!! I meant GOOOLE!!! I had on and that’s what we called it. That was 23yrs ago. Had the dreaded fuel pressure regulator leak and that leak got me out of a pretty hefty speeding ticket! 🤣
Kevin as I have said before, you are a wealth of information. Also looking forward to meeting you one day when in the Area. Remember to take a break.Lol
Kevin, Great story, don't we all have them. Sorry to hear you were verbally abused, it does happen more than it should. It could have been rectified very easy. As we all know now, it wasn't All he had to do is be honest about the mistake and THANK YOU for bringing it to his attention. My little story and I will tell you who said it. My grandmother told my Dad and my Dad told me, "If you always tell the truth, you won't have to remember as much." And yes grandma and granddad were were from Tennessee. Belvidere Tennessee to be exact. Just a spit from Winchester. Keep up the good work. Have a happy 4th.
Hey Kevin haven’t been watching your videos too long, but find your video very knowledgeable. Use to be a Harley mechanic at a dealership. Now I’m a mechanic at a gmc dealer. Want to open a shop of my own some day. My question is could you make or do you already have a video where you go over how you get new training and service info. On cars we have all data and stuff when I was at the Harley dealer everything was still in a book. Thank you
Hello Kevin , I like the stories but I personally would rather see you turning wrenches . Watching you machine parts is cool too. Thank you for your channel .
Uncle Bob has many of those stories but can not be told. Nice to know you also bite your tongue. Have a great day and enjoy your fourth of July fireworks.
Love it😂. I have something noisy as well. Second twin cam motor I install crane 290-h cams and seems like the valve train is noisy as hell. Make great power in the little 98ci but driving me nuts. 117hp 110tq. Any ideas would be a great help as I’m to far from you to bring my bike over or it would already be there. 2006 Flhtcu with all the goodies and SE conversion cam plate and oil pump
Hey KB.......where are you located? I'm currently in South Florida. Been mulling the idea of moving to a place that has hills, has a knowledgeable tech nearby that can service an 81 shovelhead and a 2010 Road King AND..... isn't 9,000,000 degrees in summer!😊 BTW......enjoyed the story. It's a damn shame the dealership horror stories are so abundant. And to write something like that on a customer's bike...... DESPICABLE! Tx for the vids!
