I live in Michigan

I ended up staying with my grandparents until college.

@@livmonique oh ok. What would you recommend people without the option to live with family or friends to do?

@@kijulbyrd7271 The best thing to do is save up money for a cheap apartment. You don’t have to have it furnished, but there are places to get cheap furniture. Start off with an air mattress and work up from there. Places like Facebook market place have people sell furniture and any apartments needs for real cheap. I’m getting an apartment this fall and I’ll make videos on my process. Sorry for the late reply but if you have anymore questions the fastest way to reach me would be in my Instagram dms.

@@livmoniqueHow did you state who you were going to live with? Did you say you would rent under your grandparents or that they were willing to take you in. Please let me know im in a similar situation

I initially did until this past summer I studied abroad in London

So it took eight months. I had to be in North Carolina for six months before I could have my case heard. When I first got to North Carolina I set up my court date, for the time I would technically have lived there for six months.

@@livmonique How many times did u have to actually be present at the court during those times?

@@kaayli2907 I had to be present in court twice.

@@livmonique Oh okay thank you so much for responding, You have to be there the first time for the hearing and the second time after u got approved to pick up your emancipation ID?

@@kaayli2907 The first time we didn’t proceed because my mom wasn’t present. I went again after I had it notarized that my mom was aware of the proceedings.

I don’t truly understand the question. But once you are legal granted emancipation your family can try to appeal the decision. Honestly if the situation was granted in the first place I wouldn’t expect another case be granted

@@livmonique also another question is physical and mental and emotional abuse and being neglectful a good reason to be emancipated I’m 16 living with a legal guardian and my actual mom

No they didn’t, but if they do make sure you have money save. One thing I can say is that she asked me how I was going to get back to Michigan and I told her I will be flying back purchase the ticket and the transport of my things.

@@livmonique what happens after you file the petition?

@@icnfiger3628 they’ll give you a court date and you will have time to prep for your case

@@livmonique what do I have to show them to prove iam able to support myself?

@@icnfiger3628 I verbally told her I have my own bank account and a job when I got back to Michigan. For precaution just have the documents proving recent pay stubs and you’ll be fine with that. Also check your state’s requirements.
