Very strong point on the video Roman! I think having a story telling project takes the silly pressure off taking that one in a life time photo every time you go out! It doesn’t have to be this way and in reality it’s very very rare to take a photo like that. Having a project on the day of story telling rather than one absolutely great shot, I find is challenging in a healthy way, sparks your creativity more and makes you more organised in terms of the thought process. Until of course you get good enough at it and pressure kicks in to tell a one in a life time story😂😂😂 Thanks for the video Roman, greatly appreciated!

This video gave me inspiration on doing a photo set, rather than just taking random images of a location, which may look nice themselves, but are not having enough variety to actually tell a story. Thanks for that,

What I like about your photography, is that when you say “street photography”, we don’t always get the same NYC or famous downtown city photos. Sometimes we get some nature in the background and different contexts. Great teaching as always, thank you!

This is because a photo can't tell a story!! A video, a film or a book tell stories....a photo only captures a still image of what ever you have taken. It can invoke questions, certainly, but I would challenge anyone to tell me what the "story" is from 1 or more images.
@MagicJF
@MagicJF Год назад
@@NJM1948 by accepting that a video can tell a story you are also saying that a sequence of photos are too.
@NJM1948
@NJM1948 Год назад
@@MagicJF Missed the point somewhat......a video IS a sequence of photos. That is just the point. A single photo cannot tell a story is what I said
@eXplosive91

I like the approach! A challenge is that I would often start with a horizontal picture as an establishing shot and then probably vertical ones for some of the rest. Now combining these in one story always requires trickery on our most popular social media Plattform which unfortunately still has the biggest audience 😅

I don’t think it’s all about luck, otherwise there wouldn’t be the few photographers who stand out over the others. I myself am always looking around, trying to find something that interests me, and through that, hopefully playful mind, I’ll find something to be inspired about. If serendipity can work in that realm, it just makes it better! My best pictures come when I’m having fun and looking at it as such and not as job or task. 🖖

Interesting about this "a photo should tell a story", when I look at your great photos or from other street photographers I read no stories. Not saying there is none, but I'm looking at the photos for the quality of the composition and the lighting. That's what I enjoy.

Great tip on storytelling! I struggle to chose which photos to publish on instagram. Lets say you have 3 strong images, and you dont want to have them stacked up in one post, what do you do? 1 perfect image + some less strong photos? And then again with the 2 other strong photos?

Is it possible to tell a story if you only have a 1 camera/1 lens configuration? Also, this is especially true if one does not have an interchangeable lens camera.

Hey Rom. You know I love your videos but I have a question. Is it possible that you show your settings for every pic you share in your videos? Just the shutterspeed and iso an aperture. And maybe your focal lengths? You know what I mean ? You know I’m on the Streetfotographyjourney since 2 years with my xt4 but sometimes when I see your picture I sometimes wonder witch settings did he use to get this dynamic range and everything.
@FRDFX
@FRDFX Год назад
Hopefully you understood what I wanted to ask you in my terrible English. Greets from Germany. ✌️
@snapsbyfox
@snapsbyfox Год назад
Hey man, the reasons I stopped sharing is as follows: If I share what focal length I use, it’s meaningless because most of my images are cropped. So it will mislead. If I share shutter speed / iso / aperture, it will be equally misleading. I often shoot over or under exposed for the edit. Secondly I always shoot in aperture priority so I don’t even decide on the iso and shutter speed. Now I could share aperture values but that again changes the perceived depth of field once the image is cropped. So these settings often have little to no value unless you also know the context, lighting, cropping and editing. That’s why I don’t share them, they usually hinder and don’t help
@FRDFX
@FRDFX Год назад
Thanks for the explanation. 😄 it’s understandable that you don’t share the settings under this condition. Have a great Christmas and a healthy new year. ✌️ greets from Germany.

I think this is the first Roman Fox video I did not like, and I have been following for a long time. Looking at the majority of comments on here I can see that I am out of step but many of the photos shown are not my idea of good ones and if I had taken them, I would have discarded them. However, I fully accept that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and over 99% of your videos appeal to me.
