Oh my, - This was anxiety inducing to listen to! I don’t think my piercing pro even does this. I’m going to make a point to ask her next time I’m in! My worst for bleeding was definitely my conch. It was hell to sleep on generally, but I think I snagged it doing my hair in a goth club sometime in the 90’s. I was likely well oiled with alcohol too, but some stranger was kind enough to point out that I had a blood trail running down my neck and across my chest. Classy.
Wow that is an insane story, thank god for that doctor. I love your content! I had a medusa piercing and I had to take it out because I was in the hospital for a long time and I had to get scanned a lot. So after a year I decided I really wanted it again (it was my first) so I went to my regular piercer to have it redone. She warned me that it was gonna be a different experience than I'm used to and she was right. Going through that scar tissue was a b*tch, quite painful and it bled for a while. But so happy I had it redone, it's still my favorite!
Dude, I absolutely adore your intro claymation. I know how tedious that can be but it's charming as hell! I can only imagine how bad this sucked though, lol. Even if not in the initial punch, the healing must've been gnarly. I've had damn near everything pierced at one point in time, and for whatever reason the septum was by and far the most painful. Though I'm 98% positive they screwed it up because it was the worst healing process I've ever encountered. Ended up taking it out because it just wasn't worth it.
My first ever cartlidge piercing was a double helix. Bled so badly it was running down my neck. A friend was getting her rook after me and by the time she was done, the piercer turned around and went wide eyed because of all the blood everywhere. Ruined my shirt. Went back after having healing problems and that piercer had been "let go". Had to have it taken out and redone by someone else.
when i first had my tongue done, i was always aware that there was a chance of some pretty nasty bleeds due to it being full of veins....so i went to the most experienced and heavily mod'd artist in Australia. it took along time to get an appointment with them (i will not mention their name) but i was so excited that i decided to have it pierced abit larger than the standard thin gauge....i belive the standard was 16g. i asked for a 3mm enitial piercing, to which he was happy to do s, ASLONG as there was no direct vein there. he used lights through my tongue, and spent a good 15 mins lining it up and making sure all looked good. it didnt look like i had any major veins in the crux of my tongue, only on the sides.....so we went along with it. the SECOND he got half way through my tongue, i knew something was wrong and felt a hot stream of liquid filling my mouth and down my cheek....i thought it was saliva....but then the metallic taste hit me, he went all the way through and the second he got through the tongue, all i heard him whisper under his breath was "shi*"......... i looked down, and saw i was covered in about a quart of blood. he had accidentally MISSED his mark, didnt see the vein and went straight through it. i wont explain the healing process....but after 13 body mods and a nice big tattoo i can say, regardless of SKILL or experience things can always go the way you dont expect. it was a long....LONG month after the piercing, but on a positive note, i can leave my bar out for months and its always going to be there :') your videos are great, thanks scott!!!
Oooo, I have 8mm punches in that part of my ears, too! Out of the 38 piercings I have these were not only the most PAINFUL, but they were the only ones were I felt a bit nauseous afterwards (didn’t get sick, thankfully 😅). I had gotten both ears done in the same appointment, and the glass jewelry my piercer used was SLIGHTLY bigger than the holes, so he had to use some pressure to insert them (which was more painful than the piercings 😫). I did bleed for a few days, but eventually I developed some big nasty looking scabs which stopped the bleeding. Five years later and they’ve become one of my favorite piercings. 😁
I got my snakebites done about 2 months ago and i love them more than anything! It went how everyone said it would though. First pierce was smooth sailing, little to no pain. Second hurt like no ones business and blood just came gushing out of my lip! Thankfully it didn't get on my piercer, but it almost ruined my MCR shirt haha
My industrial bled a lot while healing. Luckily it ended up healing fine in the end, and I've had it for a few years now. My anatomy isn't right for an industrial technically (he told me prior to piercing it - he pierced it in a way that it would look okay and hopefully not reject). I'm so flipping happy that it healed so well an quickly but it definitely bled A LOT.
I live in a state where biopsy punches are legal, but merely regulated like any other "medical device". If we ever had a surprise audit at the shop, one of the first things they would always check was whether or not inventory matched up for our biopsy punches and if our regulatory paperwork was all in order. Frankly that was always one of their primary concerns if I'm being honest. I was the one who was responsible for most of that stuff and placing orders for a majority of the piercing supplies, and luckily I kept quite detailed records for all of it while keeping the records for any regulated items seperate in its own file. At any rate, what I've always found rather funny about all of that is that a biopsy punch and a chamfer needle (or "O-needle" to some) are essentially the same exact tool, the only difference being that a chamfer needle has a convenient little plastic handle on the end making it a bit more controllable. Beyond that however they basically serve the same purpose. That said, while a biopsy punch is a regulated medical device with strict limitations placed on who can purchase them and how many, the chamfer needles can be picked up from any piercing supplier by any random chucklefuck with a credit card or PayPal account. It always just baffled me really... I also created some reuseable handles that could have a chamfer needle placed into a little hole and held in place by friction if I ever wanted more control over the tool but didn't feel like wasting a biopsy punch or if we were waiting on a new shipment. Thw handles were autoclavable and capable of being totally sterilized after use, so I ended up using them frequently. I still have like two of them laying around here somewhere I'm pretty sure...
My first piercing outside of ear lobes was a dermal punched, 10g inner conch piercing. I never heard the fabled crunch, but I also didn't have any bleeding. I think my piercer did that method of piercing it a size smaller (it was almost 20 years ago now so I don't remember exactly). I really loved the whole experience. It healed much cleaner and faster. I recommend it to anyone doing a cartilage piercing for better healing if it's legal in your area. It was outlawed in FL pretty soon after I had mine done.
Last year during Friday the 13th I decided to get snake bites. Ironically, that wasn't a very lucky experience for me. The left side was done, everything went fine, but when the right side was pierced it bled for a bit because the piercer hit a vein. It wasn't too much so the piercer let me go home once the small trickle had stopped. The next day I woke up to having a bruised lip. My lip had swollen so much on the right side that it almost completely engulfed the circular backing of the bar. The left lip piercing was surprisingly ok. I immediately went to the same shop the next day right as it opened to have the right lip piercing removed. A different piercer managed to get the bar out of my lip and once it was removed my mouth immediately filled with blood. He had me stand over a trash can for a good ten minutes, blood dripping out of my mouth like an extremely bad leaky faucet. I went back and forth from putting paper towels over my lip, rinsing with salt water, and just letting the blood drip down. He eventually had to seal the hole up with vaseline because the bleeding didn't seem to want to let up. It helped and I was able to leave after the piercer made sure I didn't pass out from blood loss.
you are awesome, sir. love your personality. i really want my nostrils done in 6mm or even 8mm someday. now i'm super concerned about what artists can even do this!!!
I actually just got my first biopsy punch about a week ago. It had been in the plans for a long time, and we FINALLY got to it. My piercer said not to tell anyone WHO did it, because it's technically not legal here. I wanted to go to a 2g, because my lowest plugs are 5/8, and the plugs above those (mid lobe) are a 0... so it would have a nice tiered look. When I got there, he told me we were punching at a 4, and immediately stretching to a 2. I was a little nervous, because I was totally sure what the sensation was going to be (even though he explained in detail everything), and it was kinda a big deal piercing... a big commitment if you will. Procedure went perfectly, and the stretch more or less stopped the bleeding perfectly! We're only doing one ear at a time, because he wants this one to heal just a little before we do the other. The bonus fun part: he said when they do these, they usually make the client swallow the chunk of ear.. because they don't have proper, legal ways to dispose of it. But I had an alternate plan. I have a little glass jar that we are putting the pieces in. I'm putting alcohol in them (Irish whiskey, actually), and after the second one? I'm sealing the jar with twine and wax like an "old medical curio" jar and keeping my pieces of ears. 😁 Cheers!
Hi Scott! Came here to check out your story times after tou mentioned them in the livestream. I’m so glad I was able to research about my conch punch before I got it and went to a piercer who could answer all my questions about it correctly. It’s my favourite mod!
I just got my helix punched at 8g/3mm, literally an hour ago lol. Not my first time at this video, but happy to watch this again! It is very very bloody, comes with the territory I guess, but the pain was not as bad as I thought it would be!! I was expecting Big Spicy, but I think the pain I felt getting my rook pierced was worse.
Thanks for sharing your story. In 1996 I had George at Venus (from Nomad fame) in NYC pierce my conch (a "sadhu" Blake called it) with a 2g needle and stretched to 0. I didn't always want to wear jewelry in it and didn't like the fact that it would have closed up. So in 1998 I did a series of biopsy punches and stretches. My friend Joe (RIP) first punched it to 00g and we stretched to 3/8" in that session. I let it heal and then took out the jewelry to see what would happen. It shrunk to about a 00. So a year later we punched it again to 1/2". Anticipating that it would shrink a little if I took out the jewelry, I eventually I stretched to 5/8". Once healed I took out the jewelry and both conches healed to a comfortable 1/2". 20+ years later and I don't have to wear jewelry if I don't want to and have maintained the 1/2" hole. Stretching after the punch was the key to control the bleeding. 10 minute daily sea salt soaks for both ears also sped up the healing process considerably.
Thanks for sharing your story, pretty full on, stretching Cartlidge, ephemeral Remy. He’s a real cool dude. I just realise this video is three years old 😮
my Daith kept bleeding for a month before I could finally sleep without waking up with blood on my pillow or dried up in my ear canal. had to go to the doctor twice to get this dried blood ball cluster mixed with ear wax out of my ear, was not fun
I feel like it would be horribly painful- Very cool looking! But not for me🤠 I would cry like a baby I mean I don't even have enough space on my cartilage
I had both of my conch’s pierced with 10g needles. One side kept bleeding for 3 days, soaking through multiple bandages. Finally went to the ER and the doctor injected my ear with some kind of blood clotting solution. 20 years later and I still wear jewelry in them every day!!
It can be stretched. It took me maybe three years of incremental stretching, but I took a guitar string piercing I did in college 20 years to a 0ga in the same location you show here. It sucked balls with each stretch but I got it done. When I do the other side I think a punch is preferable.
My was on a 0 gauge too, but was to big and hurts behind my ear. So I went down to a 2 gauge, so much better now. I wanted a punch, but no one was able in my area to do it and I started to stretched it by myself. Hurts a bit and got swollen a lot. Double or tripple my ear for 3 days and standing right from my head...looking really weird. But now it´s good. No problems and worked the same way with my inner conch. 6 gauge, more isn´t possible, 4 gauge was too big for me. But better than nothing :) I did this in a really short time, after the pain was nearly gone....I stretched again, because it will hurt again after doing it. Was a lot easier than my ear lobes ( 3/4 gauge ), 2. lobes ( 00 gauge ) or my septum ( 00 gauge ). I really think about my nostrils to stretch them too. We will see ;) Maybe not the best way, but my healing process is very good. Love your stories :)
I know I’m 3 years out, but I have a story about my daughter. For her 15th birthday, she really wanted a nose ring. I didn’t see anything wrong with that. I got mine done when I was 16. So I took her to the shop. Everything went well. As he was about to put the jewelry in, her nose started bleeding. Not a big deal. A lot of people bleed when getting pierced. It ran down to her top lip. He cleaned it up with a Q-tip. Then reached back for the jewelry. It bled again. Once more, he cleaned it up. Finally got the hoop through. I decided I’d get pierced with her. So, I got a 2nd nostril piercing (same side). As we were about to pay, she went and sat down on the bench in the lobby. The piercer looked at me and said “She’s going to pass out”. About 30 seconds after he said that, she laid down and was out cold. He said “Yep. Down she goes”. Probably about 1 minute later, she came to. She giggled about the whole thing. He gave her a delicious Snapple. We sat on the bench for another 5 minutes, we thanked the guy and was finally able to leave. I still have the video I took of her getting it pierced & all the bleeding (I sent it to her so she also has it). That’s a story we always love to tell people. She passed out when she got her first large piercing. Lol
My venom bites bled like crazy and would clot up a few times. I remember the time I got them first done, the bleeding was concerning and I had to call an ambulance 🤦♀️ apparently I was just fine because when I took out the jewelry, it didn't even bleed. I got my right side redone and it did the same thing but not as bad as the first time. Eventually I just let it do it's thing and it stopped and they're fully healed. I plan to have my labret dermal punched to 00g. I originally wanted 7/16ths but my piercer recommended I size down a smidge for anatomy reasons. I'm super excited to get paid and just do it. Body modification is something I really love and I love watching RU-vid videos of the procedures and other people's experiences.
it wasn't on that level but I got my labret scalpeled at a 0g and on the second night of recovery when I was doing my soak / brushing my teeth with water the jewelry came out and it spurted blood all over the bathroom even though the jewelry was only out for like ten seconds before I hastily shoved it back in, it didn't even hurt cause I was just panicked as FUCK, i was staying with a friend too so after I shoved the jewelry back in I had to clean her whole bathroom I've only ever seen more of my own blood in one place two other times (not piercing related), definitely a trip but now I've had my labret for 6 or 7 years and the rest of the healing was a breeze other than the swelling and slight pain, moral of the story if you continue this hobby long enough and go far enough eventually you're gonna have to learn how to clean up a lot of your own blood and ALWAYS make sure your o rings are in the correct place before doing anything involving a new piercing especially if it's a large gauge scalpel / punch
Yeah a friend of mine pierced my nose. Didn’t took long for the bleeding to stop but it was a little bleeding. And we had a real problem putting a ring in it. Maybe not my proudest moment but now it’s all good. 😊
Omg the nap 😢😮 it's so common when someone is losing a lot of blood to feel tired go to sleep and some don't even wake up it happened to my dad and two of my friends they woke up but in the hospital all of them in separate occasions
i stretched my cartilage from a common pierce to a 4g on my right ear same place as yours. then i went to a piercer to enlarge it to 2g by piercing inboard so it wouldn't bulge like mouse ear. he also found cartilage bits that were causing bumps and scraped them out (minor surgery) from the original pierce gun. i am pleased with the results and because the hole was enlarged on only one side it healed very fast within the month .skin was intact on the other side of the hole made from stretching
Wanted my conch punch out size I was about 15 years old... well I finally had it done about 2 years ago, it took a year and a half to fully heal. it is 6mm big. this was the absolute most painful piercing I have ever gotten to date, the plan was to do both sides but wweeeeeellllllll only the left is done. it bleed and bleed for a very long time and would just randomly bleed over the first like 4ish months or so.... definitely not a good idea for any really busy people, the faint of heart or young kids!
He may have used, back then, what I think is called silver nitrate. It's a powder or on pre treated pads you use with pressure or sometimes just using it stops bleeding. I learned about it from my dog groomer. If they clip a dog's nail too deep, due to the vein they bleed awful. Or in the case of my dog, she jerked and her ear had a nasty slice. Stops it in a min. Now with the pad, after it dries you have to clean it good, like stuck paper but using good saline on the ear...Used one on my finger after a nasty kitchen slice and saved me an ER visit.
I want this type of piercing on both ears as well, but want it at a small or "smedium" size at the corner-most flat part of my ear. Just don't want it to bleed out because my job doesn't want any jewelry basically
I stretched my cartilage. Took a long time n hurt like hell but i did it! On both ears! Fine now a days. Healing takes forever and a day though! Don’t regret at all
My sister got her septum done, it wasn’t the hole that bled, the needle just barely nicked her nostril. Bled like an SOB, she didn’t feel it, the piercer just put a little Vaseline on it
I stretched my conch to a 00, could fit 7/16 but just looked like giant black hole. Fast forward a few years... I currently have a small broken rubber band stuck in the cartilage due to the skin that's stretched back over the cartilage. Have spent days with a tweezers trying to get it out but the skin fits around the band far too well. I now need to use a dermal punch to get the rubber band out. Point being, you can stretch cartilage.
Not tryna argue here or anything... but I gauged my cartilage. Took about 3 years to get to my 00, but it's possible. All bc the person at the tattoo parlor said I couldn't when I mentioned wanting an earring maybe 1.5ga larger than the size it was pierced at. I told him I'd put a cigarette through it one day just to prove him wrong, and a 00 is what it took. It was painful af between the final few steps up, but it's been healed for about a decade now and I wear a black tunnel with several small gold rings going through it. I'm regularly told by strangers that they've never seen anything like it.
Glad mine wasnt as dramatic. I got my left nostril pierced 3 weeks ago, and it was a gusher! My piercer seemed a little surprised and a bit apologetic about it even though she explained it was no big deal, thst sometimes the needle will nick a vein. Maybe she meant to warn me about it beforehand, and just forgot. But anyways, its been healing beautifully....no pain or discomfort after the first 3 days, no infections so far!
Damn homie sorry you had to go through that! But it made for a great story. And you were able to keep your jewelry in hooray! We have learned a lot since 93 though you can definitely stretch cartilage if there's any non-believers check out Ephemeral-Remy.
When I got my second nostril piercing it clotted SO BAD! Probably as a protection mechanism because the day after I got it pierced I got a cold so it probably clotted to protect the piercing wound but every time I’d accidentally snag it and the clot would come off itd just clot again lmao Thankfully I’m about 6 weeks into the healing process now and I’ve had no other issues except for a little irritation bump from downsizing (the other nostril piercing was the same when I got it downsized)
None of my piercings bled too much after the initial piercing itself. They healed uneventfully. Of course, I followed my aftercare to the letter. All 27 of my piercings are 26 years old or older, with my right conch the youngest. Great story, and so sorry of all the blood loss. They look great though. I would like to punch my left conch to a 4 gauge. I live in AZ, and don't know if it's legal here though. Gotta check it out. (Jan Griffiths).
I did all my piercings myself. When I pierced my ears with the first four done at the same time at 6 gauge they bled alot. But that was due to my blood being thinner from daily aspirin I think. The next 6 gauge ear piercing I did in each ear wasn't quite as bloody. My septum piercing I did at 6 gauge didn't really bleed much at all. I never stopped taking the aspirin before piercing myself, which was my bad decision. But it all turned out good thankfully.
Ive never had a piercing that wouldnt stop bleeding, however when i went to go get my nose done, i swear a nerve was hit because i lost feeling over the whole nostril to the tip of my nose for the first 5 months of having the piercing... i still have it to this day and gained back full feeling thank god! Lol it wigged me out to touch my nose and have no sensation at all 😬
I have my conch punched through 5mm, Scott when I tell u it’s the worse pain I’ve had it was the WORST pain I’ve ever EVER had i love it but if it closed up (it won’t obvs) but I will never ever do it and I’ve got 46 piercings and they weren’t that bad at all so for it to hurt that bad it was awful
The only piercing I’ve had that wouldn’t stop bleeding was the bottom end of my scaffold Industrial I don’t know why but applying even pressure for a good 5-10 minutes did the trick for me too.
High names cruz had os in my ears at 15 let em heal up i streshed by the way then now iam 31 decided to stretch em back out they bled so bad had old scar tissue in my ears or something i think ur piercings are unique and badass so iam keep watchin i let my girl do my nipples but i want my bridge done bad and my upper labret if thats what its called but i had like 12 gauge in my upper ears amd they was bar loops that always pulled on em so i said screw that and took em out. But man i dig ur punches though seems like heal easier then hats and pillows are not pullimg on em and the gauge out nose like did u invent this 😂 so dope me sayin iam not getting my nose done then see you and iam like well maybe like that? Its awesome hope u answer back I'm a new subscriber and your videos are awesome
So I'm basically allergic to all metals except gold. I've tried having piercings with other types but they always get infected and/or i end up with neurotic tissue. I've also had the back side of my lobe grow over the earring back. Would you suggest I just give up on having anything pierced or is there some other way?
i actually managed to stretch my conch a little, so people who are terrified of this but want cartilage above standard 1.6mm: u might be able to get to about 3mm. i used titanium horseshoe tapers.
I was stupid and have done all my own piercings myself since I wanted to look “cool” with least amount of money, I have pierced my lips a few times and before I fixed my snakebites one side I think I pierced too low and it just start spewing and squiring blood. I took it out 2 days later and repierced in a better spot
man oh man sure would have been easier than stretching my conch and helix from a 14g to 4g. LOL the conch tried to eat the jewelry at about 8g but i persevered. lolol
i got 4mm punched into my ear lobes that i eventually stretched to 8mm where i'm happy sitting at today. that fucker bledddddd. they did the 1 size up thing, and it helped my right ear. but my left ear still bled a lot, so i had to go back and size up again. so for a while, my left ear was 1mm bigger than my right
Had my left eyebrow pierced and repierced after it rejected. Second time I asked for two, right next to each other. That time I bled so much it washed off my makeup clean. Funniest is that at first I thought I'm just tearing up real bad then my piercer told me to not open my eyes. Outer pc rejected a second time so I just focused on making it symetrical and so did my body because it took a solid 10 minutes to stop my right eyebrow from bleeding. They are both healed now and I got a labret as well so all my selfies are sent back to me with the dots connected. 🔻🔽
My anti-helix stopped bleeding pretty quickly, it was my conch, it would randomly bleed and scab up for weeks after punching it, I have stretched those up from 5mm to 9mm on my conch and 7mm on the helical ridge, cartilage can stretch, slowly, I had to go to a store out of town to get the insertion pins and jewellery for 7 and 9 mm specially as those in-between sizes are hard to find, I think it can stretch more, but my anatomy doesn't make it easy without re-punching to adjust the position as I tried going a mm bigger and found the jewellery would cut into my left rook and the back of my right conch respectively, I guess removing the left rook where it meets my ear would let me go bigger in future, but I don't know where I'd begin to find someone who'd do it and I definitely wouldn't do it myself. Pressure on a wound slows blood-flow and allows a clot to form, when I had my left earlobe removed after tearing it on a night of drinking, that's what I did as i could feel it pouring down my shoulder, like standing under a warm tap, it stopped in minutes and healed pretty fast, actually like it, makes my behind the ear tattoo stand out more!
My nipples bled like crazy my piercer said you'll be fine didn't bandage them or nothing it poured blood the whole ride back home and all night. It finally stopped the next morning after I bought a tight sports bra and some simple gauze to go over my nipples. It sucked I love my nipple piercings but if they ever grow up they will stay grown up. Lol
I stretched my conch years ago, its about 5mm now, won't be going any bigger because of the pain, but it healed totally fine and was more fun than doing a punch lol
